    Michel, I have paid $600 to $900 in Florida and Nevada for my dog’s cleanings. I now use Banfield just so i can get it free once a year with the subscription package at $100 a month so $1200 a year. It’s worth having for the dental alone but also all of my vaccines are not additional cost. My Banfield is a standalone clinic and not in a Petsmart. Also, I didn’t like the non-anesthetic cleaning option (we tried that about five years ago). We also have a low income clinic here and it was still $500. Hope that helps.

    The cost of dental care for dogs in the UK can vary significantly depending on the type of treatment needed. Routine check-ups and cleanings may range from £50 to £200. More extensive procedures, such as tooth extractions or surgery, can cost from £200 to £500 or more.

    I live in Sacramento, Ca. I am dealing with my pooch’s dental cleaning situation right now. I’ve received several quotes all starting at $2000 and indicating more $$ based on number of extractions. I think that is very expensive. Btw my dog is 14 super healthy, high energy and very happy - people think he’s a pup! I have not made the decision yet to go forward.

  • @evahynonen4851

    The price of the vet sounds about right. The sedation and the observation of the sedated dog is expensive. Then again if he has it done twice in 8 years (or 6 with you if I remember correctly) it is not so bad. Max will stay overall in better health if his teeth are in order.❤

    My son has a goldendoodle & just paid $2,200 for her teeth cleaning & one tooth pulled. We are in Portland, OR. He told me that 3 years ago it was only around $1,000, so it has definitely gotten quite a bit more expensive!

  • @jenk4142
    @jenk4142 2 часа назад +2

    Dog dental work has gotten sooo expensive. I diligently got my dog’s teeth cleaned yearly. Back in 2012, I paid approx $300-$500 - granted that was without any teeth pulling because Barkley was about 5. In 2021, I was paying $1200 for just a cleaning and one appt, they had to pull 16 teeth. That bill was outrageous at over $3K. Unfortunately teeth cleaning is so important for a dog that it’s something I would never skip because of the cost. There are many programs out there, whether an insurance program or a program with the vet where regular dental is included so that could help. I have always taken the stance that I didn’t want to pour my money into insurance because you never know if you’re going to need it. Instead, I opened up a high-yield savings account and what a monthly insurance payment would cost me. I put that money into the high-yield savings account and left it there for my dog if he ever needed it. My dog passed away in 2022, and I will say the cost of medical bills does make me apprehensive about getting another dog at this time. I would have 100+ dogs if I could, but when they get older and you have decisions to make about their care and the cost is astronomical it’s hard to be put into that scenario.

      You’re such a good fur baby parent! Most people don’t think about the expense of having an animal & just get one because they’re cute. I get so annoyed when I see people not care for their animals because of the cost. Imo, that’s considered neglect. You shouldn’t own a pet if you’re not going to care for them! Sorry, it’s a big pet peeve of mine. Thank you for considering the cost before committing to adopting another dog! You’re awesome! 👏

    My dog looks to be around Max’s size and I got her teeth cleaned last year, in Texas. She ended up having 4 teeth pulled and it was $1,100 which is the highest I’ve ever paid. My previous vet charged closer to $500-$600. I also always ask if there’s a month where there’s a teeth cleaning discount, which has always been February for me. Both vets had 20% off teeth cleaning every February for national teeth cleaning month, or something like that.

  • @schoolell9886

    Be careful with the dental cleanings as they can lead to vets extracting teeth, that is what adds up in cost, but the dog can also go into shock and die (this happen to a coworker of mine). Shannon Sulllivan on youtube also had a horror experience that she spoke about in her videos where I think they removed close to a dozen teeth (without permission) and left her dog blind in one eye. I know the Emancipet clinics in Austin charge between $225-$425 if you look on their site. Also, there are many products out there, gels, toothpastes, snacks, water additives that you can get and use on a regular basis with him that will give him good dental hygiene.

    Max is so cute! I do have a question if you don’t mind, I noticed you don’t have any kind of screen on your slider door. Do you have a problem with insects getting inside? I do remember on one of your cooking vlogs that you had a bee. I would be terrified of bugs getting into my home.

  • @Sweetserenityofbooks
    @Sweetserenityofbooks Час назад

    The estimate for dental cleaning for Max seems overpriced! I’m a vet tech in Austin and for healthy dogs with no teeth extractions it is around $800, if there are multiple extractions it can go up to $1500.
    Really love the casual chatty, spend the day together content!

  • @SarahSchneider2
    @SarahSchneider2 3 часа назад +3

    I wouldn’t do the teeth cleaning for Max at least not for that price. Unless you/the vet think he could possibly have really bad/infected teeth that might cause him to have eating issues if no action is taken. That may be how the pricing is in California but if it’s not necessary for his overall health than I don’t think it’s worth it. Even if it is an overall health concern I would get at least 2 other quotes from vets that have great reviews/ratings.

    My flares are exactly how you describe the one you're having now. They are usually localized on one side either with my wrist and arms or on my legs and mostly my ankles and feet. I am having one now on my left ankle/foot. And I'm wondering if it has to do with weather change/temp change.

    I love your food vlogs! The cost of dental care for pets is outrageous. I used to work as veterinary assistant. Even back then it was expensive and one of the vets I worked for was the lowest cost one in the area. I personally won't get my pets teeth cleaned. I saw way too many bad outcomes. I think it's a money grab unless there are major problems like pain or not eating. Just my personal experience. If you want to do it no judgment here. If you do get it done make sure they do a pre op blood work if hes being sedated.

    When my lupus flares up, it often attacks the tendons in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers. It can get so bad that I can't even lift my arms or bend my elbows or bend certain fingers. It's incredibly disabling. I've been on prednisone since December trying to control it. At one point, I wasn't able to lift my arms at all for 3 weeks and was too embarrassed to ask for help so I couldn't wash my hair, shouders or underarms .
