- Ahoy mates! I decided to do a video about my view of the Rum industry at the moment plus a review of Flor de Cana 18 Rum Review! Savvy? I feel a little irate about the state of the Rum industry as a whole. It is more like the Wild Wild West where anything goes...just wish there was a standard modeled after other major spirit industries.
That glass you’re mentioning is called a Glencairn glass, it’s from the scotch industry but it is VERY helpful for rum. Definitely ask for a set for Christmas if nothing else, they’re great!
I will. I’m hoping to get a Glencairn some how etched with the skull and cross swords. I can’t be normal. 😂
I appreciate your perspective on industry standards & deceptive practice, as well as the gatekeeping that seems unavoidable in the “hobby” of rum drinking. But, I’m suddenly fascinated by your dropping in and out of character & can’t help but imagine a video with your 2 personas talking to each other.
Also, that bottle has a very nifty design!
The 2-persona video talking to each other is something for me to consider doing Captain Shinbones! I don't have the great comedy timing you have but I'll practice some more! I don't typically rant about much (politics is a no-go for me on FB, IG and YT) but the Rum industry seemed safe enough to rant about.
Ahoy River Pirate. I have a bottle of this rum im saving for a special occasion to enjoy it for the first time. Right now enjoying the Flor De Cana 7 with a fine cigar.

I agree with you on the 12 being similar to the 18 at least what I can remember. Haven’t had them side by side but now thinking I might just do that! Lol!

I was not impressed with the 18. Won’t be buying it again honestly
@@robfut9954 Not everyone likes the 18. I completely understand if you didn’t care for it. Maybe not as a flavorful and complex as other rums at its price point. Rum is like Artwork. Not everyone likes the same one. Thanks for watching my rum rant. Lol!
@@TheRiverPirate13 it’s not that it was gross, I’ve just had similar but better rums for far less money. I like McDonalds, but it’s like if I paid $25 at a sit down restaurant and was served that I would be disappointed.

If you want to open a can of worms start asking about use of pesticides on cane. Hoping they have more organic rums in the future is all I’ll say. I could care less if they add cane juice to the barrel, my only concern is that the end product tastes good and is as safe as possible
