You get what you pay for. It always amazes me how many people will spend hundreds on the latest GoPro when their existing older GoPro is perfectly good, but nickel and dine on the mounts. Better to skip a generation and get quality mounts. After all, the mounts will last for many years, and if a camera gets damaged because a cheap mount fails it will eat up any savings made buying the cheap ones.
Yet my cheap chest mount has lasted just as long as (and has performed almost indentical to) my more expensive one. Go figure. It amazes me that people still believe they have to pay more for quality. That's not always the case.
@@MoniJohnson Not always the case is accurate, and there are times when an item appears to be identical and out of the same factory. Plus GoPro stands behind their products and makes no questions asked replacements if necessary. With the alternatives you simply have to buy a replacement. Testing a new mount against a mount that has been used/worn for 2 years, of course there is gonna be a more noticeable difference. This was not an accurate or fair test between the 2.
The cheap one is ok. The gopro version is overpriced. Regarding your complaints on too low.. you can always adjust it. If its too loose, it's because you've used it already for 2 years for crying out loud. You can buy 10 pc of cheap ones vs the price of 1 gopro chesty.
I feel that this test didn't do the justice to the cheap one as it is old and worn out. But then again, even in that bad of a shape it is not *that* far off of the chesty v2. For my use case I would rather pay 5-6$ every year for a cheap one than 40$ for chesty. There is always a chance that even the more expensive one will wear out/break/get lost so it is much less of a pain to replacw the cheap one. And you can get like 5-8 of them for the price of chesty EDIT: grammar
if you're actually using the chest mount i would rather throw away 5$ then use the aliexpress one its that bad. obviously if you just have it laying in a corner the 5$ one is a lot better so for the average consumer i suggest the 5$ one
And also he did different tests for each mount. Rhe cheap one he did a bunch of faster jumping. And also he could have tightened the straps on top. There's no way that they stay that loose as a default. Very suspicious, Haha.
I don't know if you just needed to adjust the angle of the GoPro or the fact the Chesty positions the GoPro much higher on your chest so it swings more with your body when you ride but it does appear the video stabilization on GoPro is working better with the cheap mount than it is with the Chesty mount. The cheap mount the bike handlebars is at the bottom of the frame and this creates a better first person view. I am able to see everything in front of you. The Chesty mount the bike handlebars and the top tube dominates the frame and whatever is in front of you gets cutoff by the top of the frame. It feels like you're constantly looking down at the road instead of in front of you. But, again I don't know if this is because of the mounts or the angle you position the GoPro.
I currently have a cheap version I use for kitesurfing… what’s pretty annoying about it is underneath the straps on the connecting point is a little cut so you could slide straps off.. I already had multiple time a strap come off with a crash and it’s not easy to fix while in the water having a kite pulling you and everything that comes with it.. just my personal experience.. I definitely will try the GoPro mount

@@Romafedorov Thanks for making the video. However, your response to Vixlier doesn't make sense. He stated that both chest mounts would have the same setting. I would have liked to see that footage as well with the best stabilization turned on.
@@fritz9880 the exact same settings were used on both chest mounts. Hypersmooth was on HIGH. The reason why the footage looks shaky is because I’ve used an ND filter with a low shutter speed. Once you lower your shutter speed on your GoPro, the software stabilization won’t do a good job. That’s just how it works. So you either don’t mount an ND filter or you can use a gimbal for best stabilization results.

There is a noticeable difference between the two which is more pronounced while walking and running. This difference may be mitigated using the Hero 9 stabilization. Comfort is definitely a factor especially if you plan to ever use it without a shirt. Price wise, chesty is definitely much more expensive than the knock offs, however, the life of this product will far outweigh that of any knock-off. Maybe if you purchase one in the $25 range it might be comparable. If you do not already own a GoPro my suggestion is to save up and bundle all of the mounts you want with your GoPro when purchasing, which gives you 30-50% off every mount. I am saving up to do this so I don't have to sacrifice comfort or buy additional products every year.
