Young man, I have no idea who you are, but thank you for taking the time to save me a towing charge, a trip to the Caddy dealership and possibly a thousand dollars or more.. Like others, I've searched the web for this "Cadillac key stuck in ignition" thing with only a small smattering of useful things to try. However, your little trick got my car home instead of to the way over-priced Caddy dealership. Once the car was hot-wired, the computer seemed to reset itself and the key came out. As a precaution, I'll have a hot wire in my trunk, as well as the bottom exterior casing of the steering column, just in case the key gets stuck again and I have to push the pin to release it. Again, thanks!
Ricky Raccoon reading your story sounds sooo much like what my thought process was when I was stranded too! I am so happy that this could help and get you home, Ricky. As well as save $$$. Please be safe and take care.
@@MrRealistic316 I can afford to fix it just fine or else I wouldn't have it to begin with. My problem is with getting ripped off by the dealer. In fact, I've probably saved enough in non-Caddy dealership repairs over the years to buy a new Kia and my old Caddy would probably still outlast it.
@@GuitarReb All car dealerships(STEALERSHIPS) are rip offs! Get a Toyota or Honda if you want long-term reliability and quality IMHO plus top selling car for many years is Toyota Camry, so always easy to find parts and find someone knowledgeable to do repairs! CTS is top 2 of most complaints for Cadillacs and after owning and an old model Lexus; I can tell you Lexus(Toyota) quality is far superior in about every way. Cadillac old model's used to be very nice, unfortunately, IMHO, the new models are just not at all as respectable of a car brand as they once were :/
Thank you so much! My battery completely drained because of this problem. I have consulted two mechanics and neither could tell me how to get the key out the ignition. Lol, however I learned how to jump my car with the wire a few years ago, that also came in a time of need. Again thanks sooooooo much young man! Many blessings 🙏🏾❤️❤️🙏🏾
Keithdrick Smith my mechanic told me that it was the computer system that went bad. The anti theft system is kicking in when it’s not supposed to. That’s why the key gets stuck. The “hot wire” bypasses the computer system that’s why it starts. I just got a new car. Cadillac still in the backyard. Lol
@@patienthands2427 I ended up getting the ECM replaced for a total of $840. Mine is running like a dream again. The Caddy dealership wanted $1,100 for the part alone. The mechanic who repaired mine said it's a common issue on older Caddy's and mine was the second in a week he repaired.
IF YOUR KEY IN STUCK AND YOU CANT START THE CAR... JUST MOVE YOUR KEY TO ON POSITION, THEN TAKE OUT YOUR MINUS CABLE ON YOUR BATTERY, AND PUT IT BACK A COUPLE OF TIMES UNTILL YOU HEAR SOME SOUND FROM THE COMPUTER UNDER THE HOOD THAT IS LOADING SOMETHING AND THEN TRY TO START THR CAR WITH THE KEY... IT SHOULD WORK THIS TIME. NOT A PERMANENT FIX BUT ONE TIME FIX... IF O HELPED SOMEBODY JUST LET ME KNOW.

Over priced? Haha. Famous words... Don't get a car you can't afford to fix. Kia is your style then 🤔😉

Your pcm is going out common problem on those CTS
@@michaelmobilautodiagnostic6705 i hope not. But I need to fix it. It is a strange fault.... That it works "when it wants"
Great video! But that wire is entirely unnecessarily excessively too long.
Can’t be picky when emergency strikes 😂 thanks!
Thanks
I have. 2010 I don’t have purple wire
And what wired is that
It’s a copper wire from Walmart. Not an electrician so it’s not my strong suit, but it worked
@@patienthands2427 thx a lot man
