  • The TAMRON 15-30mm F/2.8 is one of my favorite lenses and is one that I always choose to put in my camera bag. It is great for B-Roll, portraits, and landscape and can also be used for astro-photography.
    Buy this lens from an official TAMRON distributor at milfordphoto.com/shop/tamron-...

    I got tired of waiting for my RF 15-35mm F2.8 to show up (order early march), so I rented one of these to use on my R5 at the national air force museum. I bought one the next day, that is how much I loved it. Even when my 15-35mm comes in I am going to keep the Tamron for a few reasons. For one, it's paid for. For two, it's really good; sharp images and the distortion is much less than I expected. For three, I like the idea of a lens that I can use with the drop in filter adapter to gain CPL and ND capabilities but behind the lens (I feel like this will have less overall flaring this way). To add to this, the Canon version has a holder behind the mount that can insert gels to use for ND and I think grads too, but it looks like a pain to use. And four, it also works on my 5D and 90D, though I don't see myself using it for those cameras. For what it cost vs the Canon EF 16-35mm mkIII, I can't see getting the Canon version, especially since this one comes with IS and the Canon doesn't. And I really only am going to go ahead with the RF 15-35mm because I want the tandem IS/IBIS combo, and it looks as though distortion is even less. And also because it's paid for LOL, I traded a bunch of gear to pay for it!

    -Nice work I will be using it for interiors / stills , and other side projects not much into video. I am leaning towards the Tamron over the Sigma... In the day I had a 28-70 2 touch (manual focus) for Nikon and it was tack sharp

    Thank you for this. Have you used it on a Canon RF body which has IBIS? If yes, does the lens's VC work well with the camera's IBIS?
    Also I have heard that this lens's wide end is actually closer to 16mm than 15mm. That didn't make me feel good. In terms of focal length, 1mm is huge. I like to get what it says on the box. Other than that this lens is superb. It's images are tack sharp every time for me.

    How does it work with the new Nikon mirrorless series, the Z6, Z6ii and others? Does it cause any issues when used on nikon mirrorless with FTZ adapter?

    does the G2 has an EF or RF mount for Canon? Or is it compatible with both mounts? I've seen people using it on old DSLRs but also on Mirrorless cameras so I'm a bit confused

    Hello, after two years of sporadic use, there was a problem with the curtains, I am from Chile and it had to be sent to the US, it has been more than two months to have a solution (it has not yet been shipped to the US), I am waiting to pay the arrangement to sell it.

    What is the minimum focus distance,is this good for wide angle acro shots

    • @kevindiaz3459
      @kevindiaz3459 3 года назад +2

      Spec is 11.2 inches, or 280mm. Measured from the sensor. Can't say if wide angle macros are good or not, the magnification is pretty low 0.2X. Most lenses like this really lack at magnification. I like to use them close up to things to get that really heavy distortion, exaggerate the features. But this is like, animals, people, cars, nothing small, as it will still be very small even at the min distance.

    Hi! Does IS function with R6(it has a IBIS)?

    • @kevindiaz3459
      @kevindiaz3459 3 года назад +1

      I don't think so. Only the Canon RF lenses do for sure, maybe some of the most recent EF lenses do but I don't know. I doubt any third party lens does or ever will. I know when I used it on my R5 I did some serious stress test for the IS, and I could not push it beyond the normal lens threshold (4 stops). While on my RF 24-70mm that I had on my R6 I was able to push it as slow as 2sec, handheld, and got sharp images (though I took three to be sure I would, most the time all three were sharp).
      Unless you are asking if the lens IS will still work even when the R6 has IBIS, it does, just the IBIS does not appear to.

    Why this over the 18-35 sigma

    • @tomaskoeck
      @tomaskoeck  3 года назад

      I like it because it is wider, but you are comparing a different class of lens.

    • @kevindiaz3459
      @kevindiaz3459 3 года назад

      The 18-35mm Sigma is a crop body only lens. The 15-35mm is for full frame. Anyone using a full frame would be better off with this. Though the Sigma lens is perfect for crops, the 18mm on a crop has a much more narrow field of view, it will appear more like a 28mm lens does on a full frame. So it's not really a comparable scenario unless both are on a crop body, in which case I probably would rather the 18-35mm F1.8 for the wider aperture and better price tag. Another thing to consider though is the Sigma does not have any image stabilization, the Tamron does. And the Sigma is not sealed while the Tamron is.

    Here's what you didn't know, This lens is way to heavy in a long time use , lens barrel will snap and cracking its metal circle holder inside ( Base on true events )
    1 of my friend also has the version 1 of this Tamron. same fate happened. other than that this lens is awesome.
    if your want evidence dm me your email add ill send photos of my ill fated Tamron lens.
