I have been dreaming of visiting Hawaii again and couldn't think of a better way to spend my week than going hiking, swimming and eating (way too much) delicious food. I ended up filming quite a lot so will be posting our trip in two parts (instead of a 30-min video), hope you enjoy the first half of our week & are excited for part 2!

Thank you for saying “Honolulu” correctly!!! I hate when mainlanders say “Hanalulu”. The Hawaiian language pronounces their vowels exactly like Español and Japanese.
I’m glad you went to Olomana...it’s my absolute favourite hike, and I’m glad that you guys didn’t go to all 3 peaks...and yes, people have died the day after I hiked it. I like the hike ‘cause it’s a little more challenging with the ropes and escalations. At 3:26, that was the city of Kailua...it’s been the recent destination for mainlanders who move here. Those two islands at Lanikai Beach are the Mokulua Islands and they’re protected bird sanctuaries. And 13:33...they’re called “blowholes”...so I guess they are kind gay. 😍🌈
L&L on the mainland is pretty different from L&L here....the sauces taste different IMO.
BTW, you guys don’t need bathing suits to swim here...I’ve gone swimming in walking shorts. Hehe.
PS - I live, literally 1,000 feet, from Leonard’s Bakery...so yeah, I never go during the day ‘cause his chaotic! But yes, they’re ONO!!! (“Ono” is the Hawaiian word for “delicious”) My favourite one is the Lilikoi custard. (“Lilikoi” is the Hawaiian word for “passion fruit”)
Aldo MOST people pronounce is “hAnAlulu”. It’s like if someone saw your Italian name, and pronounced it “aldA”. Or if people took the word for ‘you’re welcome’, and instead of correctly saying “pregO”, they said “pregA”. I hope that makes sense, and since Italian also pronounces their vowels almost exactly like Hawaiian, Español, and 日本語, I thought that might make it more relatable. 😁🤙🏽
Honestly, most Americans BUTCHER the Hawaiian and Japanese languages. Biggest case in point, “karaoke” is NOT an Irish woman’s name...Carrie O’Key! It’s actually:

Aldo I hear you, I’ve studied 日本語, Españolac and Fraçais. So I try not to be too critical of small mistakes...but karaoke really bothers me ‘cause that horribly inaccurate pronunciation has never been corrected. Just hearing a few RUclipsrs talking about pronouncing Japanese words would thrill me. 😁🤙🏽
