Ah, the joys of nitro. So many times I've thought about getting another nitro, but then I see videos like this... I don't know, too much hassle just to run an RC. 🤷🏼♂️
I agree, but I love the sound, smoke and smell. Maybe try a HPI roto starter. I hate pull starters. My main rc cars are all electric, but I just got to have one nitro car also. Some days its just nice to burn some fuel 🙂
I’ve heard something about a $20 part (maybe a pin) is the cause of that 2 speed problem. Heard another RUclipsr say he like almost everyone has had to replace it but he didn’t go in dept and I didn’t pay close attention since I don’t plan on buying one lol
Oh, that’s a bummer. I thought they would of update the rotor start to accept like a 2s or 3s battery. Although pull start isn’t that bad. Roto start is really easy to get that thing started.
I've got the old version of the x 4.6 and it is awesome. The new version,hpi seems to have left out a few hings mainly the auto start ,that would have been nice. I hope you get the 2 speed working. Nice video bro 👌

I got HRP to release a brand new Savage X 4.6 that was sitting in a warehouse for years with all the nonsense going on with HPI. They sold it to be for $399 and let me apply the $30 off coupon from their website. They didn’t charge tax or shipping so out the door for a final cost of $370. The guy that has the let’s make nitro great again channel will verify all of this because I told him what they were doing and he picked one up for the same price and made a video about it.
Not sure what the issue would be with the tranny as I upgraded mine to the 3spd years ago. Here’s a little hint for an easier start. Instead of plugging the exhaust and yanking away on the cord, take the hoses off and blow into the exhaust end till it comes out the carb end. Quickly pinch, slide onto carb and voila. As for that damn cord, do your first upgrade and change it out to the roto start or nitro start (whatever the hell they call it now) lol. You’ll never go back to pull start again! 😉

We as a society have grown accustomed to instant reward and satisfaction with little effort. Nitro isn’t really much work once you know how it works.

you definitely need a screw loose (or glow plug!) if you want to do nitro. 🤣 I'm having a lot of fun though, I enjoy the challenge (mostly!).
Nitro is fun, but I had the best luck with Traxxas nitro cars. No gearbox issues and awesome easy start

Yeh roto start is good but not when you break the pins on the end of the shaft ...ive had 7 in 3 months🤨

Nitro is fine when you run a single speed and a bump box to start it, my 8t 4.0 runs all day long

When breaking in an engine, you should take the tires off and set it up on the chassis.
yup, that was my rookie mistake, got it all sorted now with some aluminum clutch shoes thanks!

Had the 2.5 back in the day, got a flux due to nostalgia, quickly realized I hate TVP (twin vertical plates) again, haha!

My original savage 21 wouldn't shift. After much back and forth they had me send the Trans to them. It came back and yeah 2nd gear whoa......
