As long as Apple keep supporting Pixelmator then I'm happy, we need more competition, Adobe is abusing artists like there's no tomorrow
Fingers crossed 🤞 the thing I dislike most about Adobe is the same thing I dislike Steam for: that damn client you have to install and run in the background.
I hope Apple uses this acquisition to make an app like Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro. I think those two apps are absolutely fantastic and I think the market is really hungry for a one-time purchase photoshop or Lightroom competitor. I hope they follow the words of Steve Jobs and remember that they're a software company and make this a wonderful app for professionals and normal users alike!
You and me both. I think it is a real possibility though. They seem more interested these days in the PRO moniker, whereas in the not-so-distant past they seemed more interested in the average consumer. Like with this new focus (though it is small) on gaming on Mac. That is quite a turn for them.
I hope so too because I just bought it even after getting the same kind of replies from the developers for my own enquiries and concerns! I decided to be optimistic!😉 However I shall have a plan B set up in case your fears come to fruition! 👍🏾 🏴🇸🇪🇹🇹
We should be good in the short term. I don’t suspect it is going anywhere. But in the long term? 😬 Who knows.
Great vid, crossing fingers the acquisition works out well for all of us. I still cringe when I think about Aperture and hope they don't ever follow suit with FCP. Enjoy the style of your videos, Josh...it's almost a niche I didn't realize I was missing: relaxing Apple gaming videos :-)
Aperture will forever be missed 😞
Aperture loss still hurts. It wipes the floor with every other option, still.
There is maybe some renewed hope with the Pixelmator acquisition. Some are speculating a sort of Photos Pro app 🤔
Personally, I purchased Pixelmator after hearing Apple would buy them
Then welcome aboard. Hopefully the app does not disappear 😅
I don’t believe that Apple is buying Pixelmator to make it vanish into consumer purgatory. Pixelmator, I believe, will become part of a pro software suite. Photomator is less clear to me. I HOPE that Photomator is enhanced as a full LR competitor and resides in the pro suite. It could also be asset stripped and reside inside of photos (in purgatory). I purchased Photomator for the Mac when I heard the news of the acquisition. I’m betting that it stays on the “pro” side. But, to me, it’s not as clear as pixelmator. If this deal passes regulatory review and closes, I’m guessing that we’ll know the answer within 2-years.
Fingers crossed 🤞
