How come Buffalo can't have a Gordie Howe bridge? We could easily split our four boarder guards between it and the Peace bridge. Traffic would flow so much better.
The Buffalo-Niagara region already has 3 border crossings, 2 of which connect directly to highways on both sides of the border. The Windsor-Detroit area only has 2 border crossings which are also the top 2 busiest between Canada and the US and the Gordie Howe bridge will also be the only border crossing in the area that connects directly to highways on both sides of the border.
An expansion joint to allow for the movement of the bridge. Most all bridges have them. Those metal plates that you see when entering, crossing and exiting a bridge are expansion joints.
