All these people dislike the trading... I like it. I never felt like it was a waste of time. if I couldn't find the piece I wanted quickly I'd just hit the dungeon with what I had and hope for better luck next time. I guess for people searching for MAX roll perfect sets for Highroller maybe it could be difficult, but I think it should be difficult to find the best gear. Felt rewarding finding gear that I knew would be hard to find on the market.
Well said! I do think they need to add a little bit of QoL changes to the current system, but I don't want any sort of Auction House. Person to person trading not only enforces how social the game is, but it also kind of adds to the thrill of hunting for that good deal, and keeps the scrappy/struggling-to-survive feeling of the dungeon alive, where you just kind of go in with whatever mediocre gear you can scrounge together. If some rich moneybags (no offense orlanthi) wants to sit in trade all day just to find the perfect god set, then by all means do so, but atleast it's their choice to do that. Maybe the top 1% will want to do that, and so be it, but for 99% of adventurers, we just talk to some fellow tradesmen, spend a few mins and a few hundred gold, haggle a bit, strike a nice deal and be fine with it. We feel like we got our money and times worth and move on. It also quite literally adds value to all items across the board because 1. We value our time over curating the perfect set, so if we see gear with decent stats, we are willing to pay a slightly higher price just to save the time and hassle of finding another piece of similar quality for cheaper. And 2. all gear is more scarce due to it not being listed 24-7, like in an AH. The fact that both players need to be online, advertising and communicating in real-time for a trade to go through means all items are more scarce, again, since the listings are so fleeting/temporary. If we could all just spend 5 mins to tailor-make the perfect set with the perfect stats, I feel like the game would lose so much of the social aspect of trading and haggling, as well as the satisfaction and feeling like you earned a good set, or made a good deal through haggling, etc. In addition to all items losing value due to the artificial scarcity of the cleverly inefficient trading system. At least that's my take on it, sorry for the rant but I hope I atleast make some sense here.
Very solid take. Keeps some RNG in the game and arguably makes it more difficult for the most affluent players from just max bidding on all the best items all the time.
If you are referring to the video at 54:34 I'm confused. He literally just described it in a very matter-of-fact way, then said it "wasn't cool." I don't see how that's a brag?? More like a simple description.
