These are definitely not cheap eats. These are typically priced food for the most part. Especially Nat’s and Siegels bagels, those are the higher end of those type of spots for cost… I’m not an expert on the local food scene here, but I’ve been to most of these places and they’re definitely mid range for what your getting.
Thanks for watching! We weren't looking for "whopper Wednesday" type of food, but rather really tasty food at a good price. Which of these choices don't you like? Also. do you have any "cheap eats" recommendations for us, we're always looking for new places to try? Cheers :)
Depends on your definition of cheap eats... these are not dirt cheap eats. But at around $15, for the quality and taste, these are cheaper eats that are worth it. One tip, Kingyo used to have a 9 course bento box for lunch which you have to order ahead that's under $20. They have a limited amount of these boxes at lunch per day so that's why you have to order ahead (and it maybe sold out by the time you call so have to book another day). Not sure if they still have it or is still under $20. But it's a huge meal for that price and great food.
We definitely feel these are budget-friendly options that taste great! We did order the Kingyo bento box ahead, and it was delicious. We couldn't put it in this video because it's not that cheap lol, but we did include it in our West End Food Tour ruclips.net/video/2uCu7A9zm3Q/видео.html Thanks for watching :)
really blown away that east is east is offering that lunch special, woah, for kitsilano too, what an absolutely incredible deal! Definitely hitting that up with my buddies
We thought it was an amazing deal and it was Tom's favourite restaurant in Vancouver! Maybe give them a call to make sure they still have the lunch special. It was definitely a highlight for us. Thanks for watching :)
Excellent tips guys; I live in Vancouver and haven't eaten at many of the restaurants you suggested. But will now! How you both don't weigh 300 lbs amazes me!
Hopefully you'll enjoy these restaurants as much as we did! Quite often you will see us leaving a restaurant with a large bag of leftovers lol, because we order a number of dishes to give them a try. We do like to eat though...but we always try to walk at least 10 or 15 kilometres a day, which helps burn some calories. Thank you for watching, and for your kind words, we really appreciate it :)
If you're visiting, check out Tandoori Flame in Surrey. It's an all you can eat east Indian buffet, and is one of the largest in North America. And it actually serves decent food too - I can say this since 80% of the clientele were east Indian. Lunch on weekdays is around $25 (as of May 2024) - look them up for dinner and weekend prices. If you like fish and chips, there's also an all you can eat option for $18 or so, at Cockney Kings in New Westminster
Thank you for the great recommendations we love it when folks share their favourites with us! We'll keep these on our list for our next visit to Vancouver. Thank you for watching and sharing :)
Underwhelming at best, it is mass produced for college canteens. The smaller Indian restaurants serve better food, but if quantity is more important then you found your destination.
How things have changed from 2020. These "cheap prices" are a but stiff compared to 2020. But I guess we have to roll with the times. This reminds me how little I get into Vancouver compared to the 1980s when I lived in the city of Vancouver. Now at the far east end of the GVRD, just short of Mission, going into Vancouver is now like being a tourist all over again. But I wrote down the names of all these places. Maybe I will go to one or two in a couple months when I get relatives from the states here for a week.
Yes, prices seem to keep rising everywhere we travel in the world! We're always on the look out for budget friendly food, but it has to taste good...not looking for McD's lol. Hope you enjoy some of these places that we tried. Thank you for watching :)
Sorry to say, that is not cheap. Those restaurants are very expensive. You can get shredded cheese on baked pork chops with fried rice + a big hot coffee or tea for 15.50 including tax at the Crystal Mall Cafe in Burnaby BC. Although it is not a restaurant, it is a great food court meal. I buy that and walk across to the outside of Burnaby central library. Western Lake Restaurant in Vancouver is very good too. Good quality and big portion for their dim sum. Be sure to make reservations.
We found all of these restaurants budget friendly and quite tasty! This video was only for Vancouver restaurants that we could walk to, so we really didn't venture out to Burnaby. Maybe the next time we're in Vancouver, we can try your recommendations, and we would also like to try some in Richmond that people have mentioned. Thanks for watching :)
A big mac meal from mcdonalds costs 15 bucks now, are you telling me that these restaurants are not a better value than a pressed steamed patty at a fast food restaurant?
@@TakeTimeToTravel actually Western Lake restaurant is in Vancouver. They closed Tuesday. Must try their Pan fried shrimp with chive dumplings. Have fun! FYI,,, most food court cost $15 average now due to inflation.
We really enjoyed Phnom Penh, although you have to get there early before the line-up gets too long! The food was delicious and not expensive at all. Thanks for watching, we really appreciate it :)
Phnom is amazing so delicious. I like newtown in Chinatown. Jam cafe for brunch but always a lineup. Best cinnamon buns are either grounds for coffee on Alma or UBC.
We'll have to keep these in mind! We did like Jam Cafe, but like you say, there's always a lineup. Love a good cinnamon bun so definitely need to check them out. Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this tour guys. I hope all food you have tried was delicious. Breka Bakery & Café is the cheapest from your list, but their quality has dropped in last half year. Which places do you recommend to try definitely? I which ones do not recommend?
We would highly recommend Ramen Danbo, East is East, Phnom Penh and Chinatown BBQ. The rest are definitely worth a try too, but those were some of our favourites. Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)

We felt these places had very budget friendly options for Vancouver! It's a really expensive city to live in and can also be quite costly to eat out. We were looking for food that tasted good and not the typical fast-food. Thanks for watching :)
Awww you guys are cute. You should do a more blue collar eating tour / working class immigrant eateries. You guys seem ballin take a chance. Prime time chicken, Kents Kitchen and Hong Kong bakery in vancouver proper. Or even just aberdeen foodcourt or crystal mall food court. (In richmond/burnaby)
Thank you for the recommendations, we love it when people share some of their favourites! Hopefully, we will get back to Vancouver some time soon, and try some of these places. Thank you also for watching and for your kind words, we really appreciate it :)
It’s not shocking that the Asian restaurants are the cheapest because Asians will not eat there if it’s expensive and Asians support Asian businesses having Greek restaurants since 1972 in Vancouver I didn’t see a lot of Greeks in there eating in our places I praise the Asian community for supporting each other, and forcing them to have honest decent prices
We love travelling in Asia, and when we're back in Canada we love searching out good Asian food! We just returned from three months in Greece and also had some absolutely incredible food! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
The water in Vancouver is not ideal for making traditional Montreal Bagels. Siegel's comes close but they turn out a bit hard on the outside. There was a Siegel's in Richmond years ago but, of course, it didn't last cus, well Richmond.
Nice video. I go to almost all these places. Surprised you didn't recommend Mamalee on Broadway and Trutch. They have the best Hainan chicken in town, and their Pan Mee noodles are amazing. And don't forget to order the roti. It's the best in the city. As for sushi, the one you should have gone to is Hitoe Sushi, located on the 3300 block of W. 4th. It's one of the last sushi places that still uses fresh wasabi. For the best XLB and Dan Dan Noodles, you need to go to Long's Noodle House which is now located in a tiny food court in Richmond, and while you're there, check out the best curry beef brisket in the city at Mui Garden.
Thanks so much for these recommendations! We're always looking for new places to try, and it's great when someone lets us know some of their favourites. We hope to get back to Vancouver some day soon, and try some of these restaurants. Thanks for watching, we really appreciate it :)
@TakeTimeToTravel If you are coming to Vancouver again, there's one particular pizza place that you might want to check out. Of course there are plenty of decent pizza places in East Vancouver and in Kitsilano, but if you go to the outlet mall by the airport, there's a pizzeria called BiBo. There's one particular pizza there that's worth the effort alone, and that's their Capricciosa. You won't regret it. 😎
They really are great places to eat! We went to the Richmond Night Market and had fun (and ate too much), but we haven't heard of the Richmond Public Market. We'll have to visit there the next time we're in Vancouver. Thanks for watching, and for the recommendation, we really appreciate it :)
@@TakeTimeToTravel also no tip and tax which is so expensive now try the Taiwanese food there very yummy both place have pork chop and rice dishes thats i signature of Taiwanese food
Bon’s*, Duffins, donair dude, japadog all kinda fit the value end of things along with places like crystal mall, Richmond public market, yaohan mall food court, Vancouver community college cafeteria/restaurant (student chef run). Lots of small food courts in Richmond with cheaper eats. Aberdeen is also an option but it will cost more there. For Vancouver proper there’s south Fraser street, south Victoria drive and Kingsway. Some places on commercial drive and Main Street are on the cheaper end. Can’t go wrong in Vancouver eastside in general for value.
Not sure where you thought it was $50 per person. At some restaurants we ordered quite a few different dishes to show the variety, but each dish could be a meal, and we took the rest home for leftovers. Thanks for watching.
We walk a lot every day, if possible. We usually try and walk at least 10 kms. every day, so I think that helps us stay in shape. Thank you for watching :)
You're so right, Vancouver is not an inexpensive place to live or to find budget friendly restaurants. We found that these places were not only less pricey, but also tasted really good! What are some of your budget friendly recommendations in Vancouver? Thank you for watching :)
Vancouver is not a very inexpensive place to live, or to eat! We were looking for not only cheap food, but also food that tastes good. We seldom eat at fast food places like McD's lol. What restaurants are your favourites for budget friendly food in Vancouver? Thanks for watching :)
yo wth... this is not budget friendly at all.. u literally went to 1 of the most expensive pizza shops in the city.... id rather have mega bite pizza for 4 dollar.. or even super great pizza for 3.... the title is misleadin 20 dollar sandwhich.... is budget friendly? im unsubscribing lol
wow- is this the bitch page? go to Seattle, Portland , San Diego, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto. Toronto's mid price restaurants are where Vancouver hi ends price out at. Also Mega bite is not in Vancouver, read the Top " Vancouver restaurants" ... Nats is better pizza- maybe more because its made with good ingredients and real cheese. not some pre shred fake stuff, and instant yeast lots of sugar, cheap white flour, make tons at a time. probably days old.
We found these restaurants quite reasonably priced and great food! Vancouver is not a cheap city to live in, so it was nice to find some budget friendly options. What restaurants would you recommend for cheap food in Vancouver?
There are many more less expensive good eats than what you showcased. Next time you should find a local to take you around. i laughed when you went to kits. Then Ramen Danbo is so gross poor service definitely would never be on a locals list. yikes!
Many locals have recommended Danbo for good ramen, so I guess it's a personal preference. Which restaurants do you recommend for good food at budget friendly prices in Vancouver? Thanks for watching :)
We usually don't eat meat at home, but when we're in restaurants we will eat meat and fish. Tom definitely prefers to eat fish when dining out, but he does try other food lol. Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)
We found the prices of these restaurants quite budget friendly and the food was delicious! When you consider that a meal at one of the fast food burger joints can cost $15, we definitely prefer these choices. What are your recommendations for cheap eats? Thanks for watching :)
We thought these were great budget friendly options and tasted good too! Which places do you recommend in Vancouver for "cheap eats"? Thanks for watching :)
@@TakeTimeToTravel I would say which I thought were cheap eats, but those places have all either closed down or raised their prices. So by that measure, there aren't many restaurants genuinely affordable any more. I am speaking as a person paying rent in Vancouver; most of my money goes straight to my landlord.
@@midnightkitty8172 in Vancouver it certainly is difficult to find budget friendly food, and we feel these are great options. We would prefer these rather than a Big Mac combo for the same price, for sure. We wanted to find food that tastes good and is affordable. Thanks for watching!

It seems to be quite popular with the lines of people waiting for it to open, and for the great reviews. Sorry that you didn't enjoy it. Thanks for watching :)

We found Phnom Penh very budget friendly! We ordered a variety of different dishes to see what they had to offer, but any one of these dishes could be a meal. We had enough leftovers to last for a couple of days lol. The restaurant has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, so it's great food and inexpensive. Thanks for watching.
13 bucks is not cheap man... if u want cheap food. go to mcdonalds...or super great pizza. or fresh slice pizza. rather have 5 slices. instead of a dish of pork n rice..

Sounds great, we appreciate the recommendation! Thanks for watching :)
You didn’t mentioned Bob’s on Broadway!!!! 2.99 all day breakfast!!!
That's because they're wealthy and don't know what "cheap" is.
Bon's and it's not a great breakfast just very cheap..
Lol, thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching, and for the recommendation!
Your review of cheap eats doesn’t Match at all with the prices .. it is well
Over $50 per person!! How is that cheap !! 🤪🤪🤪
Not sure where you thought it was $50 per person. At some restaurants we ordered quite a few different dishes to show the variety, but each dish could be a meal, and we took the rest home for leftovers. Thanks for watching.
Interesting way of speaking! To go to these restaurants either
A. You are wealthy
B. You will never be wealthy
That's an interesting view lol. Thanks for watching.
for some really cheap eats go east of main street
Thanks for the recommendation, and thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)
How do you manage to live so long and healthy?
We walk a lot every day, if possible. We usually try and walk at least 10 kms. every day, so I think that helps us stay in shape. Thank you for watching :)
Didnt see anything cheap on that video !!!!
We thought that these cheap eats were not only very budget friendly, but tasted great! Which cheap food options do you recommend in Vancouver?
Vancouver cheap eat ? No way! Nothing is cheap here and don’t forget about tax and 15% surcharge on something they called service!
You're so right, Vancouver is not an inexpensive place to live or to find budget friendly restaurants. We found that these places were not only less pricey, but also tasted really good! What are some of your budget friendly recommendations in Vancouver? Thank you for watching :)
$$$$$$$$$$$$
Which budget friendly restaurants do you recommend? Thanks for watching :)
$15 chicken burger. Cheap eats 😂
Vancouver is not a very inexpensive place to live, or to eat! We were looking for not only cheap food, but also food that tastes good. We seldom eat at fast food places like McD's lol. What restaurants are your favourites for budget friendly food in Vancouver? Thanks for watching :)
yo wth... this is not budget friendly at all.. u literally went to 1 of the most expensive pizza shops in the city.... id rather have mega bite pizza for 4 dollar.. or even super great pizza for 3.... the title is misleadin
20 dollar sandwhich.... is budget friendly? im unsubscribing lol
Thanks for watching!
wow- is this the bitch page? go to Seattle, Portland , San Diego, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto.
Not cheap at all
We found these restaurants quite reasonably priced and great food! Vancouver is not a cheap city to live in, so it was nice to find some budget friendly options. What restaurants would you recommend for cheap food in Vancouver?
It's relative to where you live.
I thought it was. For vancouver prices, its cheap. Good video :) thanks for the suggestions
That's so true! Thanks for watching :)
Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words, we really appreciate it :)
I thought one of you didn’t eat meat only fish and veg.
We usually don't eat meat at home, but when we're in restaurants we will eat meat and fish. Tom definitely prefers to eat fish when dining out, but he does try other food lol. Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)
@@TakeTimeToTravel Thank you for clarifying. Enjoy your day.
Why are you not giving the prices? Sure, they taste and look good, but whats the cost!!!?? I Seak Moneeze $$$ not gueseeze!!!
Lol I don't think you watched the video, as the prices are on every dish that we had in each restaurant! Maybe try again :)
$15 Dollar Chicken Sandwiches are not Cheap Eating especially if you have a partner Slim. Get Real trendy Kits is expensive...
We found the prices of these restaurants quite budget friendly and the food was delicious! When you consider that a meal at one of the fast food burger joints can cost $15, we definitely prefer these choices. What are your recommendations for cheap eats? Thanks for watching :)
So you like Asian food OK?
We love Asian food! Thanks for watching :)
If these are the 'Cheap Eats', then I'd hate to see what you call expensive.
Nat’s Pizza is awful
What pizza restaurants do you recommend in Vancouver?
This was great, thanks. But... did I hear right... was the first meat pie made out of kangaroo?
You heard right lol, it's kangaroo pie! Both the pies were quite tasty and we're glad we gave them a try. Thank you for watching :)
@@TakeTimeToTravel For some reason all I can picture is that happy kangaroo that used to punch out Sylvester in Loony Tunes. I might not be able to eat that. But it looked like a cool place to check out. Thanks.
Haha, I know how you feel! I love cows and have a hard time eating beef...but I do love a good burger now and then :)
Segals bagles is a rip off, always has been
Their Montreal Smoked Meat on a bagel was really tasty!
Guys this is NOT cheap. It's bloody expensive. Re name your darn video please
Vancouver is one of the most expensive city's in Canada! We felt that these food options were not only budget friendly, but very tasty! What places do you recommend for cheap eats in Vancouver?
East is East is terrible value for what you're paying. What a terrible inclusion for "cheap eats"
We thought East is East was a great value for an all-you-can-eat lunch for only $21 in Vancouver. The food is very tasty and the service was excellent. What places would you recommend for delicious “cheap eats”?
Couple a fellas
Thanks for watching, fella.
nice video but i liked none of those foods, nothing
Which places do you recommend? Thanks for watching :)
you talk like robots
Thanks for watching.
Phnom Penh is highly overrated and the food is average at best.
The waiters/waitress sometimes can be rude
It seems to be quite popular with the lines of people waiting for it to open, and for the great reviews. Sorry that you didn't enjoy it. Thanks for watching :)
We didn't find the servers to be rude at all, actually they were quite helpful for making our choices. That's too bad you had a different experience. Thanks for watching :)
Phnom Penh is really overrated, the famous chicken wing is not marinated, under average, very disappointed.
Why are you talking that way, no one talks like this, just talk normally
Thanks for watching.
Cheap for Vancouver standards 😂
That's what we thought too! Thanks for watching :)
Vancouver sucks
We loved our time in Vancouver! Thanks for watching.
Phenom Penh is not cheap? WTF?
We found Phnom Penh very budget friendly! We ordered a variety of different dishes to see what they had to offer, but any one of these dishes could be a meal. We had enough leftovers to last for a couple of days lol. The restaurant has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, so it's great food and inexpensive. Thanks for watching.
Food is overrated and way not cheap.
@@TakeTimeToTravel that tells Michelin is not trustable
13 bucks is not cheap man... if u want cheap food. go to mcdonalds...or super great pizza. or fresh slice pizza. rather have 5 slices. instead of a dish of pork n rice..
not being rude. just saying.. also i subbed and liked. cheers
It's not just about "cheap food", we also want it to taste good! Definitely no McD's for us lol. Thanks for watching.
Cheers!
hard to listen to
Thanks for watching.
lots of yummy food
We do love to eat lol. Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)
NOT cheap anywhere......
Vancouver is an expensive city to live in, so we thought these were great budget friendly options for tasty food! Even a combo burger meal at a fast-food restaurant can cost over $15, so we'd much prefer our choices in this video. Thanks for watching :)
