My humble opinion... this was the absolute BEST personnel for Commissioned. Nothing against Marvin, Marcus, and the others who were in the later line ups, but this was the original sound that I loved and that was an important part of my college experience!
this group was apart of shaping my spiritual life... their songs was my heart cries my prayers literally... it made me reach and hunger for GOD all the more.... at the beautiful age of 16....Man they just don't make praise and worship music the same any longer....
RIP Robert Guillaume I remember this on TV It was a Martin Luther King Jr National Holiday Special They Did a Skit About The Lunch Counters then Came Out And Killed It One Of My Favs. Greatest Group Of All Time!!!!!!
Commissioned was a band, not a singing group. The musicians were just as much as part of the group. Contractually speaking, if a venue books a group they book every member. If the venue didn’t want a full live performance, the non-singers sang into mics that weren’t on.
That was the one of the bread crumbs the LORD used to lead me in the right direction. That's from Psalm 137: 4 I literally dig songs that I have to research.
I HATE that they lip-synched the backgrounds, but glad they sang the leads. I would have loved to hear this song completely live, as it is one of my FAVORITE songs from them!
I was kinda thinking the same thing not too long ago about them being on Unsung... but have you seen a gospel group or singer on there yet? I haven't. I don't even think they cover gospel singers. Another thing I was thinking of... I don't know if I'd actually WANT them on that show only because that show is basically for those who had a negative/tragic ending to their life and/or career...lol! Even though Commissioned broke up, I don't think I want them seen like that..haha
+HowardStevenson Because they're apart of the group but no live music was used for this event. It would look silly for just the four singers to be onstage when people expect the whole group
I hope they never go on Unsung, sometimes its good to keep some things"private and in house" no offense but whatever growing pains IF any they went through should be kept among'st themselves and the Lord imho.
@@LegendaryVJtheDJ Late??? Naw Ur late!! Lol my comment was posted 2 years ago!!!😂😂😂😂😂 And I stand by it!! Their internal issues if any (and all groups have them at some point) should be kept in the house because it is not everybodies business!

I agree totally 💯

I was about 9 or 10 I LOVE this group I literally listen EVERY day!!!
Commissioned needs an episode of Unsung for real! Everyone from Jodeci to Robin Thicke either stole from or has mentioned them as an influence.
Harmony is flawless!!! This is truly a classic!!!
The harmony...THE HARMONIES!!!!!!
So much nostalgia watching this
That harmony is unbelievable.. The only ones on that level are Take 6 in my opinion...
NEVER EVER GETS OLD!

these brothers, theyre memories I hold Dear to my heart !!!
Greatest Gospel Group of all time
That harmony!!! So funny they have the musicians up there too

They were indeed anointed!
The Winans Brothers and Commissioned were at their height in the 80s
Best Gospel group ever
I have finally found you!🥰keep on singanneeeyannnneeeyannnaaannneyaan...one of the dopest riffs back then!
112 did a nice job covering this in acapella.
Okay these fellas killed that!! We need more Commissioned in these days and times!

I love that song
Psalm 137:4
How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?

Well to me the Winans don't touch Commissioned...........Pure Hearts for Jesus !!!!
💪🏾💪🏾
Okay. Thanks. And, I JUST put in a request for a Commissioned unsung on tv-1's website:-)
Yes their episode is on youtube.
My favorite group of all-time, but why do Michael Brooks and Michael Williams in the back have microphones...lol
In addition to being musicians , they also sang .
YES I AGREE THEY NEED TO BE ON UNSUNG, FOR REAL
YESSSSSS.Them The Winans Williams Brother
I believe it is, it was like the 2nd or 3rd episode, first season.
Fred Hammond and Keith Staten… enough said
+HowardStevenson Because they're apart of the group but no live music was used for this event. It would look silly for just the four singers to be onstage when people expect the whole group
Nothin' like the ORIGINAL LINE-UP...MICHAEL A. BROOKS, MICHAEL WILLIAMS, MITCHELL JONES, KARL REID, KEITH STATEN & FRED HAMMOND!!!!
LOL, I feel you on that aspect. But they did do the Clark Sisters, another Detroit Powerhouse Gospel Group in the first season though.
I hope they never go on Unsung, sometimes its good to keep some things"private and in house" no offense but whatever growing pains IF any they went through should be kept among'st themselves and the Lord imho.
so why even put this comment up...ur late

That was moving.
Just for you, I put a request out on TV-1's website to do a documentary on Commissioned:-)
c'mon man... brooks can sing. I was thinking the same thing for Mike Williams, though..lol I'm sure he sings too..he's just always playing the drums.
This is skinniest I've ever seen Fred Hammond in history
PERIOD!
Quit it, he just has more 'anointing' now...LOL!!!
appearances brotha lol
Really?? I didn't know they did the Clark Sisters. I missed that episode. Do you know if that's on youtube?
neetrab it is
Wish they didn't lip sync the harmony parts. Those guys were tough without it.
