    This happened to me 👎🏻 . Bought my first g35 and when I first got it , it broke down right away on me . Unfortunately it was my only vehicle that I had at the time and being a parent and also working full time I had to do what I had to do to fix the car so I was able to drive it . I was 23 at the time . Not knowing anything about cars , i watched lots of RUclips videos to figure out how to fix the problem and I ended up fixing it in the middle of a snowstorm . Took me 3 days to fix the car and the worst part of it was not having the right tools to do the job and the knowledge so it took longer to fix but when it was fixed , that car brought so much joy . 1 month later I was driving my daughter back to her moms and ended up getting Rod knock 💔 . Instead of getting rid of the car like everyone else would I decided to start building it . 2 years later I manual swapped it and still trying to finish the last of the project .

      Dang that's crazy I had a similar story with my 2006 altima the transmission went out on it and I struggled for months to get it fixed getting ripped off by multiple mechanics that's why I decided to work on cars myself I'm glad your still moving forward though

      hey buddy! actually came across this because it’s happening to me right now. 17. just sold my truck and bought a G35 and there was oil issues and i got rod knock within 48 hours. wondering what you had to do to fix yours, assuming it’s full engine swap, or if it’s possible to repair the engine after it was ran without oil. let me know!

    • @MagggzzTheOne
      @MagggzzTheOne 2 года назад

      @@syxfn8102 hey bro ! Sucks to hear that happened to you as well , unfortunately you will have to get a new motor for the car . Theirs ways to fix it if it isn’t that bad but to save the headache and $$$ the best way personally I think is to replace the whole motor. It would be a plug n play kinda thing unless you’re trying to manual swap the car then it’ll take you longer but unfortunately once you get Rod knock theirs almost a 90% chance that you will not fix it (unless it’s coming from the top of the engine then theirs hope)

    The G35 on my PFP the first week I had it the transmission blew out, I was tired of waiting and getting people quoting me like 1500$ on every shop, so I bought 200$ 6 ton jacks, borrowed a few tools and changed the transmission in 16 hours👍👍

    My 05 G35, 6SpMT, Sport Suspension, Areo, that has been cared for runs like new. You perform the preventative maintenance and they should easily last 200K miles or more. Unfortunately too many G's have been Riced & Raced to hell and back. These will require plenty of ca$h to make them reliable again.

    You crazy to junk that car with a clean title don't make the mistake. I got two couple and sedan I'm holding on to both rebuild the sedan engine wasn't that much either to do it easy motor to rebuild

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE

      Rebuilt engines don't last long I'm my opinion unless your a professional and have years of experience I don't recommend it. I made 4200 dollars parting it out and I still have the doors and the 4 brembos and rotors and interior parts. if I were to install a engine it would of marked up the price of my investment. I paid 1500 for it a replacement engine ranges 1000-1800 so lets say 3000 plus time to install the engine. I sell the car for 5500 or 6000 on a good day but I doubt it.. so I would make maybe 2000 to 3000 profit best case... not worth it

      @@ERICSDIYGARAGE Why doesn't rebuilt engines last?

    • @dohc1974
      @dohc1974 3 года назад +3

      @@MrSnakedoctor85 because it takes a lot of knowledge to rebuild the engine to the factory recommended specs. You have to take the motor apart and take it to a machine shop to deck, hone and check for cracks or warps, that means you’re putting a lot of trust into someone else to do the quality work to factory specs and you need to have the right tools and knowledge to double check the work they did. If they half assed it then you’re screwed. That’s only the first part of the rebuild lol the second part is assembling the internals to factory torque settings, making sure the torque wrench is actually torquing to properly and not out of adjustments, there’s so much that can go wrong. That’s the reason why rebuilt engines don’t last long unless done by a professional.
