Im genuinely happy you made this channel. Ive had this hunch that deep down you always wanted to break out of the "destiny bubble" but the way you explained it it just wasn't possible without hurting the original channel and that just makes complete sense so this is exactly what needed to happen. Perfect time to start this project too since final shape is still a long ways off.
The sky's the limit with this channel and it can go any direction your creativity takes it. Love to see all sorts of variety and reviews or even just day to day stuff, idk go nuts

Exactly, I genuinely like Datto and I came across this channel on a random recommendation and I thought this was someone ripping him off
"People would go to their sub feed, they would watch videos, and then they would leave the website." Thats how I do it! Although I watch a ton of videos, so its hard to say that I leave... I rarely watch recommended videos though, and I never even touch my home page. I just watch videos from people I'm already subscribed to.
Datto explaining things in a throughly but also very casual manner is a great genre of its own.

Datto has such level headed perspectives on things and I would LOVE to see him just talk and cover his reviews of other games, movies, music etc. even just pop culture takes.
I was doing a rare scroll through my home feed and saw one of the videos from this channel and thought "huh weird, a datto video i didn't see/get a notification for". I added that video to my watch later and kept scrolling and then I saw this video in my home feed as well, which made me realise you've got a new channel. So for what it's worth I'm both one of those viewers that would watch you regardless and also someone that 'discovered' you on the front page.

Datto guides is how I started the relationship, Datto does cooking (in your LA apartment?)…. I just discovered this channel and I'm beyond happy. I've hated Destiny 2 for a while and I've always loved seeing you play other games. Plus it's safe for you seeing where the game is going. This is how I think you'll survive after Destiny 2.
I was so confused when I saw a video from this channel thinking I missed an upload from the main channel. I love the variety content so this was a pleasant surprise.
I find it funny that while I found your channel through Destiny, I kept coming back for stuff like TTT and comp videos. Your TTT videos are how I found Mr. Fruit and the Dream Team. Now you guys are one of the main groups of friends I watch on RUclips.

Just got recommended this lol. I've done a very similar thing with my own channel, as my "main channel" was dying alongside the game it was based on. So I made this new channel for pretty much all the same reasons you did, and it blew up like insane, and now this one is more successful that I could've ever expected. RUclips works in strange ways.

I think you're going down the right path in Destiny's twilight years. Obviously this is your career, but holding onto Destiny forever is an absurd idea and starting a new channel gives a new avenue for viewers who enjoy your variety content. I didn't even know you had this channel. I thought it was a fan channel at first when I saw it in my feed and I was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to seeing how it progresses.
This video showed up at the top of my homepage today. I actually opened the main page to look up something totally unrelated and saw a Datto thumbnail, so it caught my attention, then I realized it was NOT your usual channel. Intrigued, I opened the vid and gave it a watch. I think everything you said here makes total sense, and I'm happy that you are branching out and experimenting! I do really enjoy your Destiny content, and I like to think that I enjoy Datto as a creator, I just don't generally engage with RUclips in a variety content sense, so I've only sporadically watched your variety videos on the main channel. Happy to see you making a dedicated space for that type of content, and I hope it really does help keep the main channel health as well. I've been waiting for this day for a long time! I've been following you since D1, and stopped playing Destiny only a little after D2 came out. I still watched some of your Destiny videos but I really just wanted to see more of the variety stuff you did with your friends. Now it finally has a home on this new channel. Excited to see more!
Always loved your guides and stuff, wouldn't be anywhere in destiny without you but I always loved seeing you outside of the "do this and that to get this" when you play with jez and juice. Glad this video showed up in my feed always enjoy more datto content to laugh at!
I totally feel you when it comes to breaking out from typical content, I've been on RUclips for 10 years this March, and I've barely gotten past 1K subs... ironically, my best videos and streams are Destiny 2... well, that and Starfield update vids. But I often feel like either my channel or my content is holding me back. I don't think Shorts are the answer for small channels, and I know having diverse content (lots of different games and videos all in one place) can hurt the growth of a channel. But finding a niche as a streamer is getting harder and harder to do. I am my own editor, and the thought of chopping up a 4 hour live stream into witty segments for viewer consumption makes my brain sweat. just know, that you and your friends have been major sources of inspiration for me this past year, and whenever I get depressed over the state of my channel, I just watch your vids or streams and get fired up to be productive. So, thanks for all the encouragement, even if you didn't even know you were doing it!

I remember when you first started uploading some Gold With Your Friends gameplay and TC's The Division coverage on the main channel, and was always super confused that it never did particularly well. The info presented about YT not wanting to throw content that isn't immediately successful into people's recommended feed does answer a lot of those questions quite neatly.

I do not subscribe to many channels, or "like" many videos (I'm more likely to have a podcast on because I'm running around a lot.) I have watched a lot of your videos over the past 2 years when I started playing D2 (and I watch you on Twitch, when I have time, maybe once every couple weeks - I'm a Prime subber there.) RUclips recommended a video from THIS channel to me a few days ago, the trivia video to be specific. The only reason I didn't click it was because I saw the channel name, assumed it was a fan channel, and that it was a recap of the shader game (which I watched live.) The whole algorithm thing is really interesting to me. Anyway, I'm off to watch that trivia video now - glad to see you pursuing what makes you happy!!! I think you'll do great and the right audience will find you.
When I see established creators make new channels, I write it off as them being overly ambitious, but your explanation really puts into perspective the situation many creators face and I really respect you for this. I hope you enjoy making content for this channel and that it performs well.
To give you another data point, I'm subscribed to you're D2 channel. This video popped into my feed as soon as you dropped it, but I didn't have the time to commit to watching for 20 minutes which your videos deserve, so I ran a couple podcasts in the backround while I did stuff. Every refresh to the main page this video was still in the top 2 rows, just got around to watching after it's been up 6 hours. I don't think I've ever gotten that from a channel I wasn't subscribed to, so yeah I think YT connected Datto to Datto since it's such a unique name
I'm here to support Datto the creator! I still love Destiny, but you having fun playing anything is really refreshing and entertaining! And also, yes please find time for yourself. We support a healthy balance even though it's near impossible these days.
I mean there’s a reason why I go for Destiny content from you, Jez, Danielle, Aztecross, Fallout, CoolGuy and Fruit, it cuz whilst I do like Destiny 2 (sometimes), I want to watch content from people who are 1. Funny, 2. Thoughtful and thorough with their content and 3. Genuinely enjoyable to watch. On the subject of RUclips algorithm, the amount of times I’ve gone to your main channel to find that there are tons of videos I haven’t watched like stream highlights (some of my favourite videos) or videos on other games is nuts. I watched your main channel content during 2021-2022 and some during D1 years and haven't watched in awhile since I quit Destiny. I like your personality, commentary, and we have common interests in other areas so this new channel is a great idea in my eyes and I hope you continue with it.

The Suika and Golf with Friends videos were the real start for selling me on "variety content Datto", and I caught the Mario Golf stream the other day. as a long time main channel viewer who has been enjoying the variety streams recently, i actually was curious why gameplay highlights weren’t being posted. the lethal company video from a month ago just got recommended to me on my homepage like 10 minutes ago, and i was surprised to find this channel, and this explanation, which clears up my confusion about why highlights weren’t being posted (on main) and also proves the point you’re making in this video about the algorithm. i kept thinking to myself, man, if datto was posting these on youtube, they’d be popping off (especially lethal company), so i’m happy to see that you knew that already and are maximizing the potential for the great moments that have been happening on stream recently to be seen by more people. huge props - was a delightful surprise to find out i was an unwitting guinea pig for an experiment that is going exactly as planned 😵💫

I’ve been following you since D1 days. Wanted to leave this here so you can see how traction is working (1/13/24). It randomly popped up on my 3rd video down when I refreshed RUclips home page. I follow a majority of destiny streamers but also gaming in general, music, manga/anime. So 3rd video down the list is interesting this early on in this channels life
Also, after now watching the video, good for you man! RUclips can definitely be ruthless with content. Destiny being in the tough spot it’s in, I’m sure it feels good trying to revive your own creativity. I’ll stick around because I enjoy YOUR content not just because of the game. I watched a lot of Datto content in the Destiny 1 era but dropped off when I stopped playing when the final expansion released. I always enjoyed your personality so I’m glad to have discovered you again and watch some videos!

Just seen this pop up on my recommended today, been watching your content for a long time, I enjoy all of your content, not just the destiny content, you are my go to for destiny guides, and always recommend you as the person to watch for what ever raid, dungeons, exotic mission, because of the simple and straight to the point way you teach encounters in your videos, Im always happy to watch alot of the different games you have played. enjoyed watching your monster hunter play through / walkthrough content. And one of my all time favorite videos is your chess competition, I listened to the whole thing at work, and was so invested I rewatched it to actually see the moves and such. I am an avid Mr. fruit, Dream Team, ext. watcher, I will say I think think the biggest deterrent for me to not watch a video is if I have plans to play it myself and don't want spoilers, but usually always give any series of videos a try. As I have grown up, I feel that the biggest factor for me is I used to watch alot more of everything, watching every video, but as I got older and could make my own decisions and my these game my favorite you tubers were playing, I found myself wanting to experience the games for myself a bit more. Anyway, I've really been enjoying the finals videos you have been in, sounds like you guys were having a blast! Been really happy seeing alot of you guys playing more games that make you happy, cause you, and everyone else deserve to be gamers like all the rest and enjoy how fun games can be without it feeling like a chore, or a job. Found the channel a few weeks ago on my front page, I think because I was watching a lot of lethal company vids. I wouldn't be surprised if the algorithm recommended your video because of your old channel, but probably also because of the content I was consuming.

I started playing D1 on PS3 after Rise of Iron but like a year before D2 released. I wanted to get some cool Exotics and searched for guides when your channel popped out.
Suffice to say I might have come for guides but I definitely stayed for your dry humour (and even your Elitist alter ego, man I relate but man I feel called out, it's hilarious)
I really, really hope everything worls out for you, because you absolutely deserve it, your vids helped me improve in the game a discover this amazing universe before I even started watching Byf and learned about lore.

I've been watching you since pre-relaease destiny 1, and I'm really glad you made this channel to show more of what your life has become. I remember you stuck in that shithole studio apartment in LA and you just seemed miserable. Then you released the datto does happiness video and moved up north met Danielle. it's like your whole life turned around. That's a really good thing to see and I'm excited to see more of it.

I've been a fan of you since Destiny 2's PC launch (your guides were mega helpful to a brand new Destiny player) and while I've stopped playing Destiny this past year, I always watched your stream highlight videos whenever they released, and I'm only *now* just finding out that you have a whole channel that's basically that?! I've been a fan of you for a while, and have stayed a fan of you even after stopping destiny 2ish years ago. I enjoyed playthroughs on your old second channel (itsdatto) and was sad when that channel stopped. I'm glad there's a new place to find Datto focused content.
Ay, glad to see you made a second channel, Datto. I've fallen out of Destiny 2 quite awhile ago, so while I still watched the D2 videos that weren't guides, I enjoyed watching all of your other content. Heres to see more branched out content from you. 🍻
As a LONG time subscriber, although I enjoy your Destiny videos, I think it's your breakdowns & analysis videos that make me click every time. It's not always Destiny, it's not always builds, etc. Like your Overwatch videos were always fantastic, and your FINALS preview. If the main channel ever had to deviate and pivot away from Destiny, I FIRMLY believe your in-depth analysis and raw takes on a topic are what sell you. There are a lot of Destiny RUclipsrs out there and a lot of them continue to look forward to YOUR thoughts on a topic, I think that says a LOT!
As for this channel, very much looking forward to the wild shenanigans may occur here! Here's to another 13 years!
This is awesome man I’m glad I can finally catch up with one of my fav RUclipsrs now. Been following since Destiny 1 house of wolves but now not being an active player of Destiny I never really watched recent stuff. Still hung around for some videos just to see what’s up over in Destiny-land but for the longest time wanted to watch more casual and variety content from you. I've subbed to that channel & unsubbed many times bc I love you & your content, but don't want to see Destiny anymore. Really happy YT recommended this channel. I got into Destiny 1 with The Taken Kings release. You were the only Destiny content creator that I subbed to at first. Your guides are top notch, imo. I enjoy your Destiny videos but genuinely enjoyed the more personal videos uploaded, so this is a win win. Fresh starts are always the best.
