It guy here, Windows starts downloading heavy updates when it runs for the first time. You can see the same on the XBOX console. That detriments the bandwidth quite a lot. It is a known issue that Windows OS takes your internet connection without letting you know. And that is by design, if you computer is not up to date it might contain security vulnerabilities that could compromise your machine when connected to internet. So if you need a real time application running at best speed and low latency you must make sure that your computer is up to date and then disable any other third party application that might also take the bandwidth. None of that was done, simply because of the stupid request to unbox a computer for every game.

@@jamesli2545 Exactly, the people who say Kramnik's not good are totally ridiculous. From before the time he was world champion for over 20 years he was consistently in the top 10 globally (1996 until his retirement in 2019), and to this day has one of the top 10 peak ratings of all time, and a rating that would put him top 50 if he competed OTB. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who think that just got into chess recently, and weren't around when he was consistently a top level threat.
It's totally reasonable to disagree with Kramnik's conclusions and methods. What is preposterous is saying that a storied player with a long history at the top level is "not good" despite him still being leagues above anyone saying this skill-wise. If you were to say the same thing about other retired world champions like Karpov or Kasparov you'd be laughed out of the room.

The 1,9 can easily be explained by the display lag, as you can also see the clock sometimes jump from 4,4 to 4,2 while he's thinking. BTW Divis was not happy at all about Kramnik posting some of their private discussions on twitter without his agreement. Vladimir wanted explanations? ..well Divis just published a 45' clarification vid on his channel, but I don't think he will like it (if he takes the pain to read the automatic translation).

in vladimir's defence(LOL not in this case), its really easy to get paranoid about chess cheating.
the problem of "smart cheating" will never get fixed because its impossible to prove.
sure if someone takes 4-7 seconds on EVERY move or on forced lines,
or if the account in newly made,
or the accuracy of the player is ridiculously high, its easy to catch them.
but in smart cheating, a player can only cheat on 1-2 critical moves a game, he can still lose, his acuuracy is not gonna be 97%, he is gonna be in losing positions many times and there is no way to PROVE he cheated.
also its worth mentioning that we must assume everyone innocent untill proven guilty.
and apparently, its easy for titled players to get triggered when losing to someone and just think they cheated.

It isn't an excuse if it is a valid issue. The issues definitely contributed to theboutcome of the match whichbwas still much more balanced than their one-sided pnline history would indicate should happen.
This entire exercise has essentially proven nothing. Jose is a strong 2700 blitz level player who can contend with Kramnik over the board. This becomes beating him online. We already knew this. Absolutely nobody expected Jose to get dominated, not even Kramnik.
What we wanted to see is if he is stronger than Kramnik by a large enough margin to justify winning 8 title tuesday's and finishing in the top 3 in countless others. We didn't get the answer to that definitively either way. I would probably say the indication is that he isn't atrong enough to do that if anything because he didn't dominate anywhere near enough to prove that.

There isn't any indication. For this to have any relevance to Jose's TT performance/cheating they should've had the same time controls. Doubling the increment and having OTB games made it a borderline worthless sideshow. That's completely Kramnik's fault. He's the one who bargained/demanded more favorable conditions for himself instead of testing Jose's ability in TT's format.

    • @thebiglebrowski3695

@thebiglebrowski3695 Not really, it's practically the foundation of the scientific method and experiments. The control group is supposed to be as identical as possible to whatever you're testing. The best experiment would probably be to have Jose play TT while monitored.

What if Vladimir Kramnik learnt how to properly use a computer mouse, including techniques that are currently too advanced for him, such as drag and drop? And if he switched to using a mouse that's not a trackball mouse from 1990? I think his problems with always running out of time in online blitz games would probably go away and he'd stop blaming his losses on cheaters
