      @@michaelSkUuTbh they may also have changed their mind. It's important to mention that this update adds another important structure and gameplay mechanic - they put more player based gameplay with the autocrafter. And ultimately it won't really change a lot in a game dominated by automatic farms. This will just make things more creative, faster and hopefully helps with game performance. Not to mention it helps with storage issues. Minecraft is so much different and they really are playing into the idea of exploration, adventure and challenge. Opposite to mindless crafting of the same item, that only takes time.

    This update has potential to be a "steampunk" update. As somebody here pointed out, tuff and copper golems would fit perfectly in here, and, as X pointed out, they kept repeating "tinkering" as the key word. The crafter (technical block with a face) and the breeze (steam?) would also fit the theme.

      So many of these features have bits that I just find slightly annoying. The trial chambers have a really strange and kind of out of place feel to them, they are unlike anything else in minecraft. The industrial vibes when everything else in minecraft is somewhat medieval is off putting. The rewards the trial spawner gives are diamonds and emeralds from what we have seen, emeralds are entirely useless as there are easier ways of obtaining more of them, and diamonds are just not very useful apart from armor and tools which you may or may not already have entering the dungeon. the new blocks look fine but the copper bulb really should've been named the copper lamp to keep with the tradition of redstone lamps and lanterns. The crafter I feel is a very good addition to the game but my problem with it is just its name. Why "the crafter" and not just "auto crafter". Idk but I just hate their naming techniques as of late. "the sniffer" and "the rascal" were some others from the last update that I really hated. They just don't fit. Like at that point rename the endermen to "the teleporter" and creepers to "the exploder". Another of the mobs that has this same shit naming technique is "the breeze". I like the addition of a new mini boss to the game, but there is a lot about it that I don't like. For example its animations are extremely out of place. The way it bounces around looks to fluid and dynamic for a game as janky as minecraft. It is a tornado it should be flying around or something. Another thing is I feel like the room it spawns in looks a little to purpose built, like the random redstone lamp with a lever on it in the middle of the room and the trapdoors that honestly should have a 30 block drop into spikes or lava instead of a small 2 block hole. All I hope is that it drops some new item which can be used to create like a tornado staff or something cool like that. They've gotta add some new weapons/armor/tools to the game for the sake of fun. I really wish minecraft added some kind of destructive weapon so that we can actually change the landscape around us when fighting eachother or other mobs. Just my two cents.
      Tldr: new dungeon feels out of place, drops seem kind of underwhelming rn, I really hate the new naming style that they seemed to have adopted, the crafter is cool but should've been named the auto crafter, the new mini boss (whose name I also dislike) moves too fluidly and doesn't fit with Minecraft's animation style, the boss room has random weird contraptions like that redstone lamp with a lever on it, and I hope that they add some new tools/weapons dropped by this mob or found in dungeon chests.

    I kinda like the new update, it feels plenty and tackles the demand of the redstone community as well as dungeoneering, adventuring and challenge of mini bosses. This new structure has an opportunity to put the Copper Golem as an acquirable pet or something, like the boss could drop a battery to charge it up and you could pick it up to go home and put it in your house. While the spawners did focus on the stray, the iceloger is an opportunity to be put into one of these spawners since they're focused on ice related things. I kinda wish there were more variants in the mini boss besides the wind one, like ice, rock, earth etc. It would really give you a challenge and an idea to be flexible in terms of what things to bring to fight them and the approach in fighting them.

The point is you can have your items passively crafting without you needing to do it manually, while you're doing other things, then you can come and pick up the results when you need them. Imagine an iron or gold farm that results in stacks of blocks instead of individual ingots or nuggets. Or a sugar farm without needing witches. Or a fully automated rocket farm. Etc. etc. There are so many things whose ingredients can be farmed, but then require manual crafting at the end, meaning the resources take up so much space and then require extra tedious time to complete yourself later. • @dranorter
      @dranorter 8 месяцев назад +12

      See X's video "Is Minecraft 1.19 A Disappointment?" I seem to remember some mob vote discussion in there too, although that might have been sprinkled across other videos instead. X has made his position pretty clear at some point or other. Maybe take my summary with a grain of salt, but here it is: Mojang has been knocking it out of the park on updates lately, changing things people never thought they would change and adding tons of stuff to the game. The reason it hasn't been perceived that way is because of the poor job they've done setting peoples' expectations. With regard to the major updates, it seems like Mojang is trying to address this issue, changing the way they communicate (IE, not showing off new features until they're almost ready).
      Mob votes are the same type of issue. When Mojang shows off (for example) penguins as if they're ready to belly-slide into the game any minute, then the mob vote feels like it's taking penguins away rather than like it's giving us armadillos. The big difference here is that Mojang hasn't come up with a way to change this perception. Recently X said they must have decided "any publicity is good publicity". Nonetheless, Xisuma encourages the community to just have some fun with the mob vote and do our best to take it in the spirit it's intended.
      X is a little reserved when stating his opinions of these things, because he wants to encourage good vibes not get people wound up. But I think overall he's been pretty forthright.

      @@dranorter I see
      Well yes, the main problem is not the fact that the updates are not always big sized a la 1.16, a game can have minor to medium updates obviously.
      But the fact that you are announcing the latter sized updates at basically THE Minecraft yearly event leaves a sour taste. It really feels like a waste of both time and marketing budget. 60 minutes for features that can be summarized in a 1:15 min video... It fits the "this meeting could have been an email" scenario.
      The fact that they are showing updates in chunks is also a bad decision imo. I would rather know what the update is all about and their vision for it rather than having snippets of it and having to imagine the rest. This method doesn't leave for realistic expectations, at best you set them so low that any change looks great and at worst you set the high enough just to be let down that it didn't go the way you imagined it. And the "shaping the update with the community" is also a dumb concept, is not that people never gave feedback post snapshot in the past, we've always been shaping it in a way.
      Regarding the mob vote I have this conspiracy theory that it was all decided from the start, the show was clearly pre recorded and even the Voting bits seemed... off, in a way. It either was for convenience or the PR team adviced a "smile and wave" approach. But again, I have no proof to back this up, so no one should take this part seriously (me included really).
      So overall the additions may be cool but the surrounding state of communication and community approach is very sad, especially since now everyone basically hates the devs (which I'm really bummed about, I really don't appreciate harassment towards game devs in the modern gaming industry).
      Next year will be definitely make or break, 15 years is very important and if they are going with the same approach...
      I have very low expectations, but we'll have to see i guess.

      @@giosph569 I agree Minecraft Live came off feeling weird. Zero buildup to the new feature announcements. I think the mob vote bits have always felt off.
      As for calling these things "smaller updates", I don't think they're as small as they might feel. They're adding new structures, blocks, and biomes every update. The updates 1.16, 1.17, 1.18, 1.19 and 1.20 are each much bigger than 1.15, 1.14, 1.13, 1.12, 1.11, 1.10.... For me, changing the world height and the entire biome generation system was a bold decision that got them a lot of credit.
      What we know of 1.21 already exceeds an update like 1.10 (which brought polar bears, husks, strays, magma blocks, and bone blocks) or arguably 1.12 (which brought concrete, glazed terracotta, and parrots). This update is bringing two long-requested features, wolf armor and auto-crafting; and they're finally stepping up their dungeon game at least a little.
      I do hope there's a bigger surprise with these trial chambers -- the lore is underwhelming/nonexistent and I would have expected a boss on the order of an elder guardian or wither.
      I think overall, Minecraft Live is a weird, awkward thing, a product of the pandemic. The Minecraft audience is too diverse to appeal to everyone in an hour of programming. 99% of the audience hasn't heard of 95% of the content creators featured. Every year, Java edition players get bored with the bedrock content. So yeah I agree that as **THE Minecraft yearly event** it doesn't work very well. It's THE event, but the official server for it is in Bedrock.
      Maybe the community needs to step up and do an unofficial event. Like, the "announcement trailers" for each major Minecraft release used to be fan projects; Mojang doing their own trailers actually lowers community engagement.
      ... Yeah, that feels about right. We don't need Mojang to do a good year 15 event. WE need to do a good year 15 event.

    Second... the madlads will really add automated crafting and I can't freaking believe it. It doesn't seem to be as complex as I feared it would be, but not as simple as I hoped it was. It seems to require some very specific timing to feed the ingredients instead of pre-setting what you want, and that will be a nightmare to make work, but it could've been way worse if it wasn't for that toggle.

    I've been thinking about it and now with the prevailing tinkering of this update I wanna suggest: copper hoppers! Copper hoppers are made of copper and use a single item as a filter for certain items. They could oxidize and that affects the speed of the hopper and obviously could be waxed for certain redstone inventions.

    • @RoseRed2004
      @RoseRed2004 8 месяцев назад +3

      This may well be one of the most amazing ideas I have ever heard🤯! It is a shame that this idea may very well never get past this comment section. I have just one thing to add to your idea: auto locking/unlocking depending on the number of items in the filter. You could have any number up to a stack of the specified item, and only after that threshold is met will items flow through the hopper. So, if you have one item, every item can flow through, while if you put say 9 items or a stack, the hopper will lock until the required amount is met, at which point it will unlock until it drops below the threshold again. And, of course, you can only have a threshold of one with nonstackable items. All in all, you came up with an incredible idea!

    I think it’d be neat if the Armadillo responded to sound like sculk does, where loud sounds would cause them to curl up into a ball and make them solid like Shulkers are. You could then “mine them” which would force them to uncurl and drop a scute without being hurt. The scute would take time to regrow for another harvest, but the Armadillo could still roll into a ball and be mined during that time.

    Edit: it's a whole dungeon dedicated to different challenges, and they showcased what, two of them? They said that they'll be showing and adding many, many more features like they have done in latest updates. It seems weird if there was just one boss, a weirdly specific wind boss too. Some things I noticed:
    - The new spawner gave emeralds and, more importantly, diamonds as a reward upon completing its challenge. If this makes it into the update, we might be able to farm diamonds renewably, possibly even fully automatically.
    - The copper trapdoors switched their state when they were hit by the Breeze AoE, both from close to open and vice versa. This gives me reason to believe that *all* copper redstone components will behave like a T-Flip-Flop, not just the bulbs.
    [Edit] After seeing the confusion about the second part in the replies, I watched the Breeze part again. Turns out it doesn't create a redstone pulse, but *interacts* with blocks like a player would. My bad!

    • @Cle-o
      @Cle-o 8 месяцев назад +26

    • @samwithasceptile801
      @samwithasceptile801 8 месяцев назад +16

      The Breeze just interacts with them like the player, it isn't sending a redstone pulse. A redstone pulse would open the trapdoor at the start of the pulse, and close the trapdoor at the end of the pulse. A player right-click would just open the trapdoors and keep it that way.
      In other words, the copper trapdoors here acted exactly how a wooden trapdoor would work in the same situation. We have no way of knowing if it actually shows flip-flop behaviour or not.

    I love that there's a new dungeon and that the boss of it has some unique sandbox effect.
    Minecraft dungeons have always been special since they utilize the sandbox to make each one unique.
    A dark souls dungeon is always just the same thing with a new look. You always beat enemies by hitting them with your sword and dodging. But the minecraft dungeons have unique gameplay mechanics such as the shulker making you float to try to kill you with fall damage, the Wither skeletons being three blocks tall but also giving you Wither, the cave spiders giving you poison, the guardians requiring water breathing and stopping you from breaking blocks, the warden triggering on sound and this requiring you to dampen your sound with wool and water, etc.

      The chambers themselves reminded me of quake, which is why they're my favorite so far

    It's a bit of a shame that there was only 10 minutes of actual Minecraft updates, if you ignore Education Edition and Legends.
    I'm hoping the Copper Grate will be able to let water through. As well as the Breeze's attacks.

    1. Copper and Tuff structure.
    2. Big focus on “tinkering”.
    3. Breeze activating redstone.
    I think Copper and Tuff Golems are about to make a return.

    for some reason the breeze reminds me of the "thermal expansion" mod mobs it adds, more specifically the blitz. But certainly interesting what is getting added
