12:20 The white porch in front of the Hall of Presidents was not originally there when Liberty Square and the park opened in October 1971. The crowds were so great to go into the attraction that a covered queue was constructed in front of the building to shield the waiting tourists from the hot Florida sun. Part of that queue is currently the spot used as a market to sell fruit, water etc.
I do not know if they are still available for meet and greets, but there used to be Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross walking around Liberty Square sharing historical facts. It was fun. Hope they still do this.
Very informative. We have been in Liberty Square countless times but many of your facts were new to us. Among our favorites were the crooked shutters, the Christmas Tree Shoppe, and the Little Mississippi River. FYI...there was also a Daughters of Liberty and they were quite as influential as the Sons of Liberty, although in different ways. They signed pledges to boycott buying or drinking tea and started what we would call today cottage industries to produce items (like wool and cloth) due to shortages when merchants signed an agreements to prevent the importation of British goods. Some young woman even refused to marry their fiancés if they purchased a stamped marriage license. Apparently their actions had significant effects on the cause for Independence. And they even had their own version of the Boston Tea Party dubbed the Coffee Party. Coffee and sugar were in shortage and it was discovered there was a local merchant who was only selling his coffee at extremely high prices. Apparently this greatly affected the women (you can identify) because they were not willing to include these items into their already long list of sacrifices. So the legend/story goes that a group of women (possibly up to 100) confronted and assaulted him until he relinquished the keys to his warehouse and they carried off the coffee in carts. Abigale Adams even wrote to her husband, John Adams, and related the story. It was my sons who suggested there was a group called Daughters of Liberty and I looked them up and found some great information on historyofmassachusetts.org. Both men and women contributed to the growth and development of our great nation! Just in different ways. One great movie to watch on this time period (if you haven’t already) in Johnny Tremain. It is a Disney classic which we watch every Fourth if July!
8:22 When you speak about the fireman's' symbol. The brick building next to it. This resembles the Williamsburg Capital Building. Take a look on their website.
Hey molly! Love you videos! I’m an American history tour guide in places along the east coast and I regularly go to places like the capitol building in DC and Gettysburg, etc. I don’t know if this would interest you, but in the hall of presidents the narrator is the same voice as the one in the official Capitol visitors center film and the music during the Lincoln/Gettysburg part is the same music that you find in the visitors center at Gettysburg National Park official video (which was narrated by the great Morgan freeman)-it’s not really any info that you can do anything with but every time I’m at the hall of presidents I feel like I’m immersed to an authentic American history experience bc of little details which would subconsciously draw people to those times. It also gives validity to the accuracy! The magic of Disney is always because of their attention to detail!! Next time you’re at the hall of presidents imaging listening to that music and then going to the actual field where they fought that battle then on November of that year where the president gave his famous speech, it makes it so much more special!! Anyway from one Disney need to another!!
Also, seriously this video was amazing and I learned so, so much!! I bring people to Disney all the time bc I love it and I have so many fun little facts I can now share!! You’re awesome and I hope to always bump into you when I come!!! Thanks!!
Fun fact: the thing on the sign on the music store part of the Christmas Shoppe is not a note, it is the symbol for the treble clef (the high part notes)
I used to work merchandise in liberty square. The Christmas shop was my absolute fave and I loved that the parade passed it, there was an amazing view of fireworks and let’s not forgot about the muppets show. So sad that they ended I
I am guilty of running through Liberty Square on my way to another land. Thanks to your video, I am going to commit to really stopping and appreciating these amazing little details. Thank you! (And yes, please, on a Haunted Mansion video!)
I saw a different video that said the haunted mansion is based off the mansions in Jim Thorpe, Pa and have seen similar looking buildings there when visiting. Also, fun fact, there is still a replica of the liberty bell in Pa in a little town near Dorney Park (amusement park) where you can visit the replica (it's in a small basement museum) and even ring it.
Awesome video! Thank you for all the cool facts and history! A video about the Haunted Mansion would be great. You always do a fabulous job with the videos! 😊
Great video. However one correction: the author of The Legend of Sleeping Hollow is named Washington Irving , not William Irving. Some fun facts: Walt Disney took the Vice President Richard Nixon on a joy ride they were fairly close friends. Ronald Reagan was present at the opening of Disneyland in 1955 when he was still an actor. Only three United States Presidents refused a salary to date: Herbert Hoover, John F Kennedy and Donald Trump. Franklin Roosevelt was the first President to have the Presidential seal in the Oval Office rug but it was very different to see, it wasn’t until Nixon’s administration that you could actually see the seal in the rug easily.
Hi molly,I'm just wondering where you got all this super interesting info from? As a British person who doesn't know much at all about American history I learnt alot just from a disney video 😁 thanks!
Great video! I have one quip, and that's with The Liberty Bell replica in Liberty Square. Pennsylvania still has its replica Bell, which was given to all 50 states and 5 US territories in 1950, not 1976. Its Bell is at The Liberty Bell Museum at Zion's United Church of Christ in Allentown. It's there because back in 1777, eleven bells, including the original Liberty Bell, were moved from Philadelphia to Allentown so the British couldn't take them and melt them down into bullets. After the British left Philadelphia, those bells were moved back. Wait Disney World's replica was created in 1989, by Disney asking the owners of the cast to make another replica of the Bell.
it was funny when you were interrupted twice when you were talking about the crooked window curtains: by the muppets and although it was loud the river belle riverboat's whistle
What a wonderful tour of Liberty Square. The attention to detail is always so important to the Imagineers. The music symbol is a Treble Clef sign -not a note-just sayin’.
Great vid Molly, but the numbers on the doors in Liberty Square is just an urban legend. Colonial Times were over by the time the 1800s were here. And also, it would ruin the "timeline" of Liberty Square and Frontierland. Liberty Square is pure 1700s while Frontierland is 1800s.
This is one of my favorite Molly videos!!
I just shared this with my 4th graders since we are studying Colonial Times. They LOVED it! Thank you for going over all of the historical facts.
I am such a nerd when it comes to history and would LOVE to see the Presidental display.

This was the best school day ever! So much info!! Thanks Molly.
BABY MOLLY!!!! I JUST DIED!
the nod to Ichabod Crane made my jaw drop! I never would have noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out, Molly!
So much fun! My two favorite things mashed together...history and Disney. Thank you! Keep these video tours coming please!
Please more videos like this! The history and imagineering of Disney lands is my favorite!
As someone who majored in U.S. history, this makes me so happy. :)
Thank you so much for posting! I am a huge history nerd and I learned so much from this! Please keep posting more videos about the history of things!!

This was amazing! I will have to watch it many times and take notes. Very inspiring. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful video and so unique!!! I would love to see more like this! Thank you for sharing
15min and 17 seconds in, the guy in the daisy dukes and LOL Minnie tank made me smile!
We love you molly and truly enjoy all your posts!!! Great people watching in your videos as well!
Also, fun fact about the Liberty Bell, you could also see it as a reference to National Treasure, which, of course, is a classic Disney film.
Fun!!! Yes - Haunted Mansion video... One little thing: Washington (not William) Irving wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. 😀
This is so awesome, Molly! I love American History! Thank you for sharing!!
Beautiful video

I just found this gem! I'm going to use it when introducing Colonial Times to my 4th graders! Thanks :)
It was so interesting. Thank you for the video.
I love that there's so much history embedded into Disney World! I'm feeling so patriotic. :)

"I just ran into that pole." Yeah in case you didn't know there was a pole there.
