TRANSCRIPT: Hello. I’m Anna Leahy of Tab Journal. I’m the Editor, and Claudine Jaenichen id the Creative Director. And we have just mailed out new print issue. We print an issue every January and then pick up the design concepts and elements on the website for the online issues. We used red Tyvek to mail the issue this time, and Tyvek is recyclable. However, it is categorized with plastic grocery bags, so it might not be able to go into your curbside pickup. They’re also study envelopes so you could just reuse them. And here is the issue! As you can probably see, we printed this on large format newsprint. I have to back up, it’s so big. Part of the reason we did this is because we’re experimenting with issues of time, chronology, and how we track time and, in this pandemic, how our sense of time has been changing. We created this entire issue during the pandemic. We have ten fantastic contributors. And if you open it up, you can see that each page has one poem on it and can work as a sort of broadside. So, you can cut the pages apart and use these as broadsides if you’d like. The large format also allowed us to play a lot with the dimensions of the page and the images on the pages and stick with our new, more accessible style guide that calls for a larger font for the poems. I’ll show you the inside centerfold, and you can see we oriented the page differently. And that’s in part to allow Keith S. Wilson’s poem to gallop across the page. And you can notice, if you go through the issue, that we pick up the images so that they do work in pairs, but the pairs are separated. And then the final poem is actually a cootie catcher poem that you can cut out and use to create versions of the poem. We purposefully left space on the back where the contributors’ notes are so that when you cut out the cootie catcher poem, you’re not actually losing text of the journal. Please take a look at our website: tabjournal.org. If you are a teacher or librarian and you’d like a batch of copiesto distribute to students or readers, let us know. You can contact us on the website. We look forward to hearing from readers, and we’re so proud of this issue.
