The thing that makes this super sad is Jared stated this was a super raw day of shooting for him and Jensen wasn't just playing Dean comforting Sam he was actually comforting Jared too. They both said this :(

Actually Lucifer was already out so Sam didn't have much choice, Dean somehow had managed to keep Michael within his head so Sam wanted time till their figure out solution. He will never ever want to lose Dean when there is chance
