  • Impressing potential mothers-in-law is not an easy task, especially if you're Peranakan.
For Nonyas like Angeline, embroidery is one of many important skills that a good daughter-in-law must have. One such display of their talent is their ability to handsew more than 10,000 coloured beads to complete a pair of Peranakan beaded shoe.
    Sole incredible!

I love these shoes - they’re brilliant! My grandmother made me a pair that has lasted almost two decades! My mother gave me hers some years back once her bunions made it unbearable to put on heels - who knows how long her pair has been around. I’ve lived on four continents and always bring them with me wherever I move to, no shortage of compliments from anyone who has seen them.

Remind me of Little Nyonya drama once aired on NTV7 (my) it's mediacorp production (sg). Best drama, I love it. I respect those who still hold their culture it's hard, even for me 😅 and I hope the video could be a lil bit longer 😁

Hai. I am only rediscovering my patrilineal Baba-Nyonya heritage. There is a significant number of us in Singapore but alas, only a minority carry on the culture and language.
Saya belajair chakap Baba Malay, tapi lembat.
