- Wheel throwing is so satisfying but have you even seen three wheel throwing videos synchronized to music WITH COLORED Porcelain? This video might be the first.
In this video, I show you how to make cups with colored porcelain that I made by mixing in different amounts of mason stains. When when wheel thrown, colored clay is referred to as neriage or agateware. I demonstrate the color layering and wedging techniques I used to prep each piece. I also list the percentages so you can try it out on your own if you're interested. Check out my channel for marbled clay, agateware, neriage or nerikomi if you're looking for more colored clay videos.

Your like the casey neistat version of ceramics. Videos are edited very professionally
WOW. Thank you Kim! That's a very nice compliment.
Not only is this one of the most satisfying things to watch... I want all of those pieces!!!
Thanks dude! Come by the studio again, I'll cut you a deal ;)
Loved this pottery...
Thanks. The edit was a lot of work. It worth it.
Such a great idea, combining the creation of the three at once, really showcases the contrasts and similarities between them. Thanks for making your videos!
I found that is teaches me a lot about how I throw too. And shows that just pieces can be made differently and still look similar. Or that the process changes the outcome of the swirls. Thanks Kathleen. I really appreciate your comment!
Wah so beautiful .....
Why, thank you 😁
Jimbo loves his colored clay ;)
That I do :)
They are so pretty.. I love them ... Great work Jim 😀👍
Thank you Rabz! Very kind of you to say.
Ahhh!! I love it. It like making polymer clay canes!!
Right? It’s so satisfying to see the reveal at the end. Keeps me coming back for more. Thanks for the comment, Kim!
Most loyal subscriber here, great video, can’t wait for ceramics club!!!!
We can try some of this at club for sure!
Beautiful.
Thank you. I'm fond of this first triple wheel throwing video I made.
Awesome...I liked the blue one all the way through the video (and I'm not fond of blue). I didn't think I was going to like either of the other two until you scraped the outside of them. Then they showed their "true colors".
The "reveal" as I call it, is the best part of throwing with colored clay. Blue is my fave too :)
I like all three, but perhaps the blue/black/white is my favourite. But I didn't like that you distorted them....... they were best in the strict cylinder shape because of the colouration in the clay.
I was very happy with the blue/black/white as well! Maybe I'll try a few and leave them straight walled.
What music do you have in the background? It sounds like a yoga music I use. Just curious!
