man it took me a min to learn the Shy D was from NYC he just fit in so when I found out he was from NYC I had no problem great dude and friend still rock with him today shout out cuz LOL stay blessed up
I grew up with Shy D music ....i always thauht he was from Atlanta not from New York ....but i love his style of music always and still a fan love you man
MC Shy D is honestly one of my favourite musical artists, love how raw and minimal his music is. So crazy how after all this time he still sounds the same.
Im from Toronto but after listening to Outkast, I wanted to see how deep the ATL game is. I came across Shy D and loved listening to joints like Shake It and Atlanta Thats Where I Stay. A humble man and definitely an important figure in ATL hiphop history. I keep blasting his joints in my car 😂😂😂
Imma use B High’s phrase. “My God”. I remember hearing Shy D back in the 80s and he sounds the same. So glad for this interview and I never knew he was from NY!
Much Respect to Shy D! Most MF not old enough to know Shy D music or impact. Atlanta has a lot of implants to the city and doesn’t know the roots of the city. Some rappers are from South Georgia or Alabama. Much respect to South Georgia and Alabama. Hope Shy D gets his flowers!
Man look here: Naw, Shy D wasn't the most lyrically inclined dude but for me; that was the appeal. It was like he knew he wasn't really a super technical rapper but he was just having fun. You couldn't deny the beats. Even more than that; yeah it can be said he made "booty shake/Miami Bass" aesthetic music, but he was a B-Boy and that's what made him stand out. For me, being a kid in the 80s who wanted to rap and knowing I would probably never sign to Def Jam or Jive; LUKE SKYYWALKER RECORDS was EVERYTHING. That yellow and green label gave us hope. Even though we didn't categorize it as "the south" like we do now, being from Louisiana, knowing there was a label down here gave me hope. MC Shy D is one of my favorites. Thanks for the inspiration and GREAT MUSIC!! 💯
Honestly, I think it's a good thing for Atlanta to acknowledge that an NY guy started their whole thing. That way you can gloat in NYers faces and say "Yeah one of y'all started us, so give us the respect we deserve" lol
Being from Sacramento, I think OutKast 1st album was my first experience with the ATL music scene. I didn't know this guy accept from some name drops over the years but that was an amazing interview. /salute!
Chicken, Cows & Horses? When did Atlanta or Decatur have those? LOL. Atlanta natives Mojo, Raheem The Dream, D-Rock & Hitman Sammy Sam did it in Atlanta before MC Shy D.
@@CleanMusicLover229 that don't count if you went to middle or high school in that state. If you went to middle or high in that state and stayed in that, you pretty much from that state. Raheem The Dream went to Therrell High School in Atlanta, a few blocks from East Point. He grew up in Atlanta as a child. Same thing with Ludacris being born in Chicago but was raised in College Park, Georgia (he went to Banneker High School). DJ Smurf(aka Mr. ColliPark) was born in Orlando, Florida but was raised in College Park, Georgia. He went to Banneker High School too. Big Boi, well we all know ge was born in Savannah, Georgia but went to Tri-Cites High School in East Point. We went to high school together, but he was Georgia anyway since he was born in Georgia. MC Shy D was totally different as he was born and pretty much grew up in New York and moved to Atlanta. You don't associate Kanye West or Spike Lee with Atlanta, eventhough they were both born in Atlanta. We associate Kanye West with Chicago, where he was raises and Spike Lee with New York, where he was raised. W.C, Spice 1 & DJ Premier are all from Texas (Spice 1 is related / cousin of Scarface), but WC and Spice 1 was both raised in California and DJ Premier in New York.
@@Mr.Majestic77 Then MC Shy D would be a native! MC Shy D went to Cedar Grove High with Tony MF Rock. Raheem (Mar 1967) and Shy D (Jan 1967) are only 2 months apart. Shy D moved to ATL in 1977 and Raheem moved in 1978.
It's funny back in the day as a fan we didn't know he was from New York we thought he was from the Atlanta it's new age that care about that foolishness

MC Shy D it’s a beautiful thing
Shy D said it we show love to everyone. Many rappers like Tupac, Eric Sermon and Too Short loved Atlanta as well.

B High, damn bruh....this is classic, Shy D the Legend.
Man appreciate this one so many memories with his music
Coming correct and 88 and 89 thanks B been waiting to hear from him for a long time part of my childhood I discovered Atlanta rappers threw him

We need a Mojo Interview.

Ya'll gotta do a interview with DJ Smurf Mr Colli Park
He certainly talks like he from the NYC! So I can see how that might rub some people the wrong way
First 2 albums slay
Really big in Alabama back in the Day when Hip-Hop was more Regional
Chicken, Cows & Horses? When did Atlanta or Decatur have those? LOL.
Atlanta natives Mojo, Raheem The Dream, D-Rock & Hitman Sammy Sam did it in Atlanta before MC Shy D.
He said that they were
Few and far between but it’s still the south…a house here and there could’ve had em, but not prevalent
Raheem The Dream isn't an ATL native. He's from Dallas, TX and moved to ATL the same time Shy D moved there.

DJ Thriller - 1 ❤ Entertainment circa late 90’s mid 2000’s
Didn’t know Shy D was originally from NYC
SAME THING WITH NEW ORLEANS WITH THE TRIGGERMAN BEAT
When it really comes to the South Uncle Luke put that gangsta slap down and came in the game already a millionaire.
They are talking about Atlanta not Miami
@@gbebee1 But Uncle Luke came to ATL and signed MC Shy D.

Shy D is a legend. I think because he signed with Luke out of Florida.
So he's only a legend because he signed with Luke out of Florida??🤦
