      I agree with what you just said. It shouldn't. Genres are only an indicator for newcomers and describing an artist by one/two words is like dancing about architecture.
      But I can't figure out what does this have to do with this song....

      since this song came out this has been my favorite song of hers and it's because it's the perfect bend between her alternative witchy style and the hard drop, it makes this song like if you were meditating and reached nirvana on the chorus but on drugs lmao
      or following the vibe, having some alone in my mind thoughts and coming to a realization (??) anyway this is still her style lmao

    The beat drop in this song is phenomenal. Just because something is catchy, doesn't make it a "sell out". And this isn't pop. If anything it's alt dubstep or electronic. This woman can make what ever music she wants and none of you are in any place to tell her otherwise.

    • @mindmonkey00
      @mindmonkey00 10 лет назад +2

      Robbie Baker As fans were at least allowed to give feedback. Good to know people on the internet freak out because not everyone shares the same opinion. I like the song okay but I am in no place to tell everyone they're wrong and quite frankly I can see where they're coming from. Many of the people who found out about grimes immediately fell in love because it stuck out so much. They loved that someone could create so many new things and have them consistently be really good. Whenever big artists like Rhinanna or Kesha we're topping the charts, the fanbase ignored all the business driven hit songs and found comfort in grimes' style. Since the people who depended on her for so long as someone who could create something new and didn't care what other people thought got something so generic and predictable it's really really disappointing. I don't think the song sucks but I completely understand why they're so upset. Also, you want a phenominal drop? Clubroot - Embryo. May not be your style, but it's healthy to expose people to something new.

    I adore this song and mv. The cinematography in the desert is gorgeous. First discovered Grimes in 2012 in my twenties. There’s no one else like her ❤ and so proud that she’s Canadian! I’m 36 now and it still feels like yesterday my sister and I would listen to Visions on vinyl on repeat at her old apartment, having drinks, doing art together. Good times. Good memories.

      I don't care much for the fish eye shots but the rest of the video is really great even though it's kinda random :D. On the other hand, it's better to have totally random eye candy music video than some ordinary looking "storytelling" video. I mean she built up her music and image exactly on the fact that she's doing things just for the lulz and it's not necessarily supposed to make sense :D.

    • @mcp866
      @mcp866 10 лет назад +7

      Zlobivka I would agree about the fish eye shots. Out of all the different shots she did, the fish eye shots were my least favorite, but that doesn't mean I didn't like them. My favorite shots were the desert shots, especially with the ribbons. The cinematographer almost painted on the frame with the ribbons.

    • @eelexa
      @eelexa 10 лет назад +4

      There's a reason why certain songs are written to someone. Artists are like brands that need to keep their identity in able to satisfy their specific target group.
      It's totally understandable that the people who liked the Grimes before are disappointed by this song.
      Then again Rihanna's fans would love it so I guess Grimes is going for a new audience.. for me personally it's just a shame

      And, being mainstream isn't a bad thing. Mainstream only means popular, not shitty music. People want to hear ''smart'' music on the radio, but they also want ''to keep'' the 'smart' artist for themselves, then they complain about an artist doing a ''mainstream'' song/album.

    Lyrics
    Dreams, they feel like memories when I dream of you
    Time won't stay, it'll stretch itself out from a minute to days
    And I'd like to think that we don't dream to wipe it off
    'Cause I've been here
    Living up, giving up
    When I go, can I go with you, you?
    When I go, can I go with
    Go, go, go, go, go with
    (Go with)
    Go, go, go, go, go
    (Blood diamonds)
    Happy scenes, a stupid dream when I dream of you
    They don't stay, it might all be delusion but I couldn't say
    And I'd like to think that we don't dream just to dream it off
    'Cause I've been here
    In love, give it up
    When I go, can I go with you, you?
    When I go, can I go with
    Go, can I go with
    Go, can I go with

      For me it's 7 days ago and I can't stop listening to her songs as well. Her songs become more addictive the more you listen to them 😂 especially when I found out that she sang Delicate Weapon which was my favorite Cyberpunk song 😂

    She should do a track with CLEAN BANDIT.
    I like this vibe. This is the first song I've heard from her. I checked her back catalogue, and I can see why some of her older fans have freaked out, but if anything I think this soundscape gives the track some more punch and direction and her vocals have more energy and ring out more than in her old stuff.
    Thumbs up from me. Phresh!!

    As an artist we have to challenge limitations of ones and others self. Grimes is that very definition, love it.

    Her best song! 🎵🎶 What a passion!
    With few lines from Dante's masterpiece Inferno (from Divine Comedy), which is probably an inspiration for Grime's work.

    Big ups to Blood Diamonds for such a great track. Love the music. Grimes only adds that perfect flare with her vocals.

    At first I thought this was too techno for my taste, but now I can't stop listening to it. It's such fascinating music. *press repeat*

      Spot on, I don't :) Thanks though! Maybe I'll look up some more. Grimes said something in an interview once about music that makes you uncomfortable at first, and how that can be an interesting thing. That's what I experience with this song :)

    As a prophetic dreamer it's so sad that' that you had to scratch this off your album. This song is amazing, it touches me, and I don't care what other fans say about the "sound." I saw this debut at fyf in Los Angeles and it gave me goosebumps. You're phenomenal and this song is phenomenal. Wish you hadn't given into the pressure and kept this on your album
