Purpose: The presented action research aimed to improve the reading comprehension skills of selected grade 8 students of Constancio E. Aure Sr. National High School through the use of e-modules. The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of e-modules in improving the reading comprehension skills of the learners.
Design/methodology/approach: Purposive sampling procedure was used to identify the respondents of the study. They were selected grade 8 students that obtained low scores from the pre-test administered.
Findings: The findings stressed that the scores of the post-test with a mean of 37 were higher compared to the pre-test with a mean of 22.62. It was proposed that the given e-modules to the learners were effective in improving learners’ reading comprehension skills.
Research limitations/implications: The students spent at least one-hour reading the e-modules and answer the questions according to its level of difficulty based on their preferred schedule with the help of their guardian. They read according to their own time, being easier to incorporate learning in their busy life, regardless of specifics.
Originality/value: E-modules were helpful in incorporating reading to the students since pandemic had begun. E-modules assisted teachers in reaching out to students to ensure that reading is maintained despite the fact that they were enrolled in a distance learning program.
