This was great, I've been looking for "exit sign emergency light batteries" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Eenseh Unthinkable Expediency - (do a search on google )? It is a good one off product for discovering how to get emergency light without relying on batteries without the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got cool results with it.✅
0:38 The power didn't go out, you just turned off the lights. 0:23 Most sign's don't do that. That sign didn't turn red, you edited that in. 0:28 The indicator light on that sign does NOT double as a test button. The test button and light were just close together.
@ firealarmdude5967 why does it say in the Home lake do people actually have exit signs in the home besides just as collectors what is it some code somewhere
1. The light won’t turn red when the sign is malfunctioning unless it is a Self diagnostics model or a newer Lithonia unit which has the color changed but it only turn red when the battery is disconnected 2.The indicator DOSE NOT count as a test button. I have the same exact unit has seen in the video and there’s a separate test button and indicator. 3 turn off the breaker before service the sign.
What you are saying is wrong, the sign’s indicator light doesn’t turn red when the sign is having problems, unless if the unit has self-diagnostics, only signs that have self-diagnostics can change the indicator light to red, if the self-diagnostic sign has different problems, they flash the indicator light red, and if the sign is tested, it tests itself, the green indicator light flashes, after when the sign is done, the indicator light turns red steadily when it is finished it’s test and the sign is charging at a high rate. Standard exit signs don’t do these features. Usually when the standard sign has problems like the battery died, Ig will only be illuminated when power is on and not when the power is off, and the green indicator light will stay green, and if the sign’s power supply/transformer is dying, the sign’s battery will only illuminate and after 90 minutes or more, the sign is completely done, also the indicator light doesn’t count as s test button, also some exit signs don’t have to be wired to a breaker. It only has to be wired to a breaker in a building or a big house that requires emergency lighting, some exit signs can be wired to a extension cord when people collect them for hobbies, and what you did is wrong. You didn’t shut off the power, you just turned off the lights and left the sign on to AC mode (power on). Please do better and give us good examples and tell us what Standard or self-diagnostic signs do.
If your going to replace the battery, you need to turn off the circuit breaker before you touch anything. Don't disassemble anything until all power is off.
My sign has a red light for normal operation but it goes green when the battery is disconnected. This video could confuse people by spreading false information. For that sign, maybe that’s how the lights work but not all signs work like that. Also this shows them going into it live. It is very dangerous to do things live. Always shut down the power to the unit before servicing the unit.
"How to replace the batteries: open it up and replace the batteries."
Well, that was helpful.

@@zacharykorbet1418 this probably isn’t a standard home, it’s likely a duplex or some other rental home where emergency lighting is required

And also, the indicator light would go out during a power outage.
Show how to take it out the battery please

The battery is usually just a simple plug-in. Any reason for this?

The LED may last 10 years, not the battery, they are typically NiCAD
“You’re home”
I just uploaded a video of my exit sign in the house. I'm thinking about switching over to LED bulbs which I do discuss.
If you need a exit sign your must gave memory loss and can't find the way around the house

My Exit Sign is wired to a plug
Did you route the wire to the nearest plug?
Melissa Dingle yes. I plugged it in my kitchen on an extension cord

Do all exit signs typically run off of 120V?

Most COMMERCIAL applications require 277 VAC for the commercial lighting system.
