Hey Debra, I just found your channel tonight but have been searching for bel canto tutorials for a while because of a singer named Grace Kinstler who supposedly uses bel canto techniques for contemporary singing and she has such a flawless voice. I’m 15 years old and have been improving my singing for over a year now, but have been singing all my life. As a contemporary singer, do you think bel canto is a good path for me to take, and how should I go about learning it? Thank you so much your videos are amazing! (P.s I watched some of your singing videos and you have such a beautiful voice!)

So glad you found me!! I started my singing studies at 15, also singing since I was very young. I do believe that pure bel canto understanding is fantastic for contemporary singers. Partly because it is a technique that allows flexibility. My inner artistry determines the quality of my sound. The vocal health benefits are unparalleled. Someone asked me once if I had ever lost my voice using these mechanics and the answer is no. This is the way many pros sing 8 shows a week and remain healthy. As to learning the principles…this becomes tricky part. You want a teacher that supports your vision and dreams, while they help you move through the process of gaining vocal control. If you’re a visual learner, my new book Sing Easy: The Magic of You! could help you understand the objective with this work. Happy to do a short consult with you, as well. Good luck and follow your heart!! 🙏❤️🥰
