Parrot
I use Kali but with only the tools I need like 10-20.
When I tried parrot, the unpacking during upgrades takes a lot of time. But it's worth it as it uses less resources so good for a vm.

I´ve been using Kali since it was named WHAX, then Wisfixlax, then Backtrack, so Needles to say I´m a hardcore Kali Linux user; I even use it as my daily driver. Still they both use the same commands so I would say they are like Cousins.
