I’ve been watching a lot of Joe Henderson videos lately. Did he ever have a bad night? He brought his A game every night for basically his entire career. It’s astounding. If you get/like what he plays, his every solo is a perfect work of art.
1982!! WOW!! The quality, visually, as well as the audio is simply incredible. These 5 guys are really amazing to watch. Tony's groove is off the charts. Thanks so much for this!!!
This my first negative commentary I am writing. This performance was during the "experimental" period. While it demonstrated the musicians competence, they are all terrific musicians, but I prefer Louis's rules re: Jazz. It has to swing and be melodic. This concert did neither. Sorry, I do like Freddie Hubbard's Trumpet and Flugelhorn ability. I played both and he was far better than I. But, Heh, I'm sorry.
Don't be sorry! If you play your notes over a certain speed limit, it will sound like mush, and not melodic or swinging to a certain amount of people. That's just the way it is apparently 😐 maybe with repeated listening you can start to understand how somebody would feel this is swinging hard and with beautiful melodic lines
Yeah ..if u want appreciate these Giants more slow RUclips down to 0.75 and catch the mastery of their lines in their groove. To say Tony Williams and Ron Carter are not swinging ???????? then who is?

Agreed! Joe's consistency, no matter the situation, is almost inhumane. I especially love the way he sounds with Tony, they really inspire eachother
Check out his album Multiple
That's an absolutely astute observation.

A quick Sketch seems based on harmonies from « I mean you »(Thelonious Monk), at least the solos. This is my favorite here.

Green outfit and yellow kit-now, I understand. No, wait, I don’t get it.
Williams did not require amplification: ask the back row.
