These sorts of ceremonial events have been going on since mankind knew of other lands. Its a show of respect and welcoming one's guest. Something we don't get to see much of.
OMG!!! THIS IS FOR REAL. BUT I SAW A MOVIE LIKE THIS HAVING THE SAME CELEBRATION. THIS IS AMAZING. GOD BLESS THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF SUSSEX, AND THE PEOPLE OF FUJI. LORD KEEP THEM SAFE. MUCH LOVE♥️♥️FOR THESE TWO FROM THE USA.
The posture and kindness of Megan's appearance during the welcoming activities is so phenomenal. It's the beautiful sign of appreciation of people's warmth which Duke Prince acknowledged.
Celebriting under the rain simbolise a lot, most especially for young n recent couple, May GOD Almighty guide and protect prince Harry n wife in all their endeavour.
WOW LOOKS BEAUTIFUL DUKE AND DUCHESS GOD BLESSINGS ON YOU ALSO THE ADDITION TO THE FAMILY MAY GOD CONTINUE TO GUIDE AND PROTECT YOU IN YOUR ENDEAVOR GOD BLESS LOVE YOU💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

My great great great grandfather David Whippy who was an American was instrumental in helping cede Fiji to Britain while America and France squabbled. God Save The Queen.
I ALWAYS WONDER WHAT WAS IN THAT DRINK. LOL. POOR PRINCE HARRY. I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO. THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF SUSSEX WERE AMAZING.💙💖 THE PEOPLE WERE INCREDIBLE TOO.❤
@MsWhoEverWhatEver what a load of crap. Stop feeding people your stupidity because no one believes in this ideology anymore. I suggest you should check your ego.
MsWhoEverWhatEver The British Empire as with other Imperialist states back in the day, robbed many of these countries of their heritage and resources in terms of people and such. However, they also did some good. Building infrastructure, education, and Law. Not perfect but those things enabled Fiji as with other ex Empire nations prepare for own rule. Gladly, the Empire is no more, but what remains is a Commonwealth of nations with shared values. This is even more so as we head into a era of diversity and equality: acceptance of all not the few. This is in my opinion, Queen Elizabeth’s legacy - in terms of the Commonwealth of nations started by her beloved father. We cannot undo what was done in the past but we can definitely learn some valuable lessons to make sure we move forward together for the good of all. What a proud nation Fiji is. What amazing humility and hospitality. They are as important as Australia, Canada and New Zealand selflessly fighting side by side with British troops in both world wars and as Prince Harry said, as recently in Afghanistan. Respect.
Even though they are behaving quite proper and British, Meghan appeals to so many different kinds of people, even though she’s a California girl and the ever charming Harry is all embracing of everyone. It’s refreshing to see other people’s culture being celebrated and shared. What a good sport Harry was for drinking something unknown. This was something great for Fiji, am sure they are so very happy to have HM visiting them, giving them the chance to showcase to the world who they are, rather then a vacation spot.
What do Fijians here think of the monarchy and of the British? Do you wish you could come back? Are you happy with independence or did you prefer being a colony? Im just interested!
Keith we are still very much a member of the commonwealth. Eventhough we are republic now, we still hold the Queen to high esteem. Fijians serving in the British Army make up the second largest group of soldiers next to the Gurhkas. As it is we are happy with being an independent state and we are doing well for ourselves. Thank you
Support the Monarchy and love the British!! At the same time we prefer our independence and maintain and protect our culture and tradition. We stand by Britain through thick and thin!! God bless the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and her armed forces !!
I don’t think much of the Monarchy. Come back? Well, we’re part of the commonwealth and while we don’t enjoy as much of a close relationship that we did in the past with Australia and New Zealand (due to the coup) I’d personally prefer we got our shit together and worked on a shift from old relations to counter Chinese influence in our region. 😕 My Grandmother..on the other hand is all for the Monarchy. I understand where she comes from with regards to the History we share. So I don’t engage her in negative talk about the Monarchy out of respect for her opinion as my elder. The British? As a people? From the stories relatives and family friends say after serving alongside them. They seem to like them quite a bit. They get our sense of humour (no matter how “bad” it is - in a raunchy way) so they have something to bond on since we do like to mess around a lot...and I tend to think their respect for what Great Britain has done for Fiji in the past in relation to interceding on our behalf internationally or helping us to build our own country (despite the fact it would’ve benefited any colonising country to lend their “efforts”); colours the light we see the Brits in quite positively.
The Fijians in his company should have advised him on what to do with the kava drink. He seemed confused on what to do and then the President and the guard behind him just whispered to him to say bula. Comeon man
@@korro5870 i know obviously. My point is they should have said that before he got the bowl as he seemed uncomfortable and waiting on what to do next when he received it
Prince Harry seems to have lost his smile somewhere in Australia. He looks so somber. But, I am so proud of the him, his duchess and the Fijian people.
I thiink he was just trying to be culturally appropriate and sensitive. Sometimes if you do not know some traditions you do not know how to react, and in that case is better not to do any thing but show respectful and gratitude and that is what he exactly did!
Tried only done 9 days mostly shaking hand ,meeting children and people ,hardly hard work .Driven everywhere, food supplied oh yes and made a few speeches .
The real value of Meghan Duchess.. is not about the cost of her dresses, but its what she will do for the Royals and nations in the Commonwealth...(My Family just got an email from me that we must consider one of our 2 yearly vacations to look into Fuji in 2019).... thats value
That must be one of the most miserable faces I've seen on Harry. He couldn't have made the fact that he didn't want to be there more plain if he'd just walked out. Even his wife played the part of accepting gracefully what was a wonderful traditional welcome.
What kind of drink was that? I am not sure I would drink it, though. Glad Meghan didn't have to drink it!! What the heck was it for anyway - I really hope it was good stuff for good intention!!!
of coz it was good stuff for good intention :) its the traditional fijian drink to welcome guests/visitors to our shores and to assure them of safety, happiness, excitement and just peace!
Someone already told me what was in it (I find the ingredients pretty disturbing but nevertheless, that's your culture). He also said it was not made for pregnant women. Your explanation is a lot different compare to his. I am still glad Meghan did not drink it.
Neeta.. "both look uncomfortable" You are reading your interpretation of what you see into how YOU WOULD ACT/FEEL under these circumstances. You have made such a definitive statement of "fact" [both look uncomfortable] that one must be reminded that a belief system can blind one to actual reality.
That's how they look to Me ,I have seen many such displays they impress me .perhaps you are not looking at their faces .they don't know what to make of it ..

The Fijian traditional welcoming ceremony was beautiful and splendid to watch.
Beautiful ceremony I have learned so much about these cultures by following the Duke and Duchess on their tour.
The posture and kindness of Megan's appearance during the welcoming activities is so phenomenal. It's the beautiful sign of appreciation of people's warmth which Duke Prince acknowledged.
A nice reception of modern day continuity of the Royals..a splendid show from Fiji.

I really miss being there at Fiji and I never been there but one day I will because my whole family from Fiji love you Fiji!
Culture and custom at its best. Just a beautiful ceremony, I wish I was there to witness this, beautiful.
If I had been there, I wouldn't be able to sit still...I'd want to get up and dance a bit, lol! The beat is very catchy!

What a welcome ! Duke and Duchess look amazing together! Continued blessings to them and the new addition to the family.

Alice Glenn No longer American ,British subject bow to the Queen
Neeta: She will always be an American her roots are deep. However, that does not preclude other adventures of discovery and adaptation
Neeta: She now has dual citizenship. Always American.
YOUR WORDS MADE ME CRY GOD BLESS

Me too. I love all the traditional dress. There's so much incredible history we know very little about. Makes me want to read up on it.

He's probably tired and "over" the whole thing by now......lol!
I think he is afraid of spiritual ceremony
I thiink he was just trying to be culturally appropriate and sensitive. Sometimes if you do not know some traditions you do not know how to react, and in that case is better not to do any thing but show respectful and gratitude and that is what he exactly did!

Great!! btw its FIJI :) coz FUJI is the highest mountain in Japan :D x
Mikhail Dominiko Oh, let her and the rest of the fawning Markle PR 'tards go to Fuji....it's all the same to the clueless!
Why do you insist on using her maiden name!
This ceremony was put together in a few short days hence the choreography of the war dance looked lethargic to say the least.
Is it in Africa?
No it's in the South Pacific

Harry looks annoying for some reason. It's been a long day. Lol
Not as big crowd as people going on about both look uncomfortable .
Neeta.. "both look uncomfortable"
You are reading your interpretation of what you see into how YOU WOULD ACT/FEEL under these circumstances. You have made such a definitive statement of "fact" [both look uncomfortable] that one must be reminded that a belief system can blind one to actual reality.
"A belief system can blind one to actual reality" Perfect. I might steal that saying sometime, okay?
That's how they look to Me ,I have seen many such displays they impress me .perhaps you are not looking at their faces .they don't know what to make of it ..
k...:)
Neeta..got ya..
She looks like she thinks the whole experience is painful. Lol. Look at her face.
