Cbm is used to calculate the space or the volume of the cargo or the shipment.
Easiest formulae for CBM is LxWxH in meter and multiply with each other.

CBM is representing the volume of cargo, but volumetric weight is representing weight by calculating the volume for better freight charges.

Sir what if in one shipment we have different ctn sizes then how can we calculate cbm easily?

First thing to keep in mind is that the CBM of container is constant, either 20ft or 40ft.
Now if the cargo is having heterogenous cartons than average CBM will be taken by calculating cbm of one or two cartons and comparing it with the space they are consuming in container. It will be plus or minus.
Definitely it won't be accurate, and you might face wastage in CBM.
But for suppose you have 2000 cartons and there are 5 to 6 or 8 to 10 different sizes, than it is recommended to calculate each carton of each size than multiply with the total quantity.
You will get the CBM easily.
