I want to go out to support the local businesses; but 10% inflation over the past several years and the micro taxes and fees at SF restaurants are off putting. A casual meal for pho or burritos for 4 ppl is easily $60-70.
Have not been to the City (SF) in 2 years. Given the rampant crime, homelessness problem, lack of any affordable parking , congestion and so may closures of stores , businesses etc, there is little reason to visit SF from elsewhere in the Bay Area.
Thing is that people are going out closer to home rather than heading in to "the city" -- downtown walnut creek, Concord, Clayton, etc. are more lively than ever
Notice how Sara didn't mention crime concerns in San Francisco and San Jose but leads the segue into Oakland with crime. KPIX makes a point of singling out Oakland and bombarding with crime stories every day
That's surprising. But -20% in sf is still more than both Oakland and sj together. The other thing is that these land owners simply want too much for rent.
What the hell are you guys doing a new steady stream of positive “news” how great things are going? It looks to all of us like you have the keys to Gavin Newsom. 5 pop up shops??? Everything is now rectified.
Meanwhile.....everyone is in Japan or planning to go to Japan. Sorry, SF! fix the crime problem first. It's crazy in SF. It's dirty, and it's not safe. Goodluck!
Cuz SF people now hang out in Mission, Japantown, Stonestown, Mission Bay, Golden Gate Park, etc.

It is sad that the city tried to milk the big business but squeeze small business dry
I just paid $60 for 3 burritos. 😢
here here! the only real comment on communities
A 20 dollar burrito is one of life’s hard choices.

Exactly the east bay cities are booming, from Lafayette all the way down to Dublin. Noone wants to deal with "the city" now
Actually that’s not accurate. The restaurants during the week are almost Empty.

And that's a good thang.

San Francisco is a beautiful city. It just needs the right people to run it. It's an American icon, and it is to be maintained and treated like one.
“Right” people mean somebody from the right as in First one in almost a century?
San Francisco shuts down itself when it restricts motor vehicles....

As soon as a family of 4 sets foot out the door will easily spend $175/day = 2 meals and gas money. This excludes any paid attractions/entertainments.
Marijuana dispensaries will not go out of business.
Candle store? Good luck.
I don’t eat in downtown SJ because I get harrassed and rough up by police because I am poor I think.
Yeh, visits to lovely Oakland are up 21%....must be from renaming the airport

0:21 oakland was shaking by the earthquake

Guess what? There’s a pandemic going on right now in China, so a decrease in tourists from China is a good thing.
The city is filthy and has high crime parking problems car breaks, just problems in there ~!
Nobody wants to go to Downtown San Fentanyl
Oakland has First Friday, over 50 Art Galleries, Art Murmur, Night Life, Lake Merritt just a great place to spend the weekend
With a bullet proof vest 😂❤
All art related, that is very niche. Lake Merritt is pointless. Night life, 🤮
China's economy is low now.
