- Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA continues to push Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance as the Vendée Globe leaders close in on Les Sables d'Olonne, and we look at whether there could be an opportunity for Richomee to overtake his friend and rival.
We hear from Conrad Colman and Sam Davies, and also chat with Paul Knox-Johnston, nephew of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston who famously won the Golden Globe Race in 1968-69 in 312 days, and how different the boats and technology are now.
We then discuss the latest tracker, leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for Dalin into the finish.
We conclude with an interview with Alan Roura by Dee Caffari.

It's amazing to me as a 74 year old retired Merchant Marine captain in our USA fleet the steadfast advancements each day of these true sailing warrior's. The equipment from technology, the constant weather predictions and most of all the sailors themselves have been mind blowing. Best to all and for a safe and Healthful finish.
Greetings especially to Conrad! His joy and great mood, made my day! Thx mate!
All the best to the whole fleet!
@@Pfeilspalter-LA All the last global races Conrad was pretty quiet. But this one he is all around. Great communication and that is also what this race is about. Well well done!
Thank you for your show every day. Is great🎉
Glad you're enjoying them all!
Hats off to Alan Roura and Sam Davies too. Always high spirited, humble and positive!
100%!
Great to see Aunaud pass the cape, and if course conrad being so high spirited too, as always. Great entertainment! Great Job Sam Davies, stay safe!! ! 😊. Sad to see Johann lost his sail, and Boris too.😢 But hopefully Boris can get his fixed, before the end of the race, if he finds a calmer bit of sea, so he can climb the mast. And It's amazing how much different technology has changed to make these boats move so fast these days!! 😊. Love seeing how happy Alan is at this point, since passing the cape, im sure hell make the best decision for him and his boat. 😊 🎉 keep moving forward guys!! 😊
congrats to all Cap Horn rounders!
Amazing Race so far ❤
Loving every day of this race and don't know what I shall do without your daily updates , and the video clips we see daily . Next for me to watch addictive will be the 3 week cyclingevents on the roads of Europe in the 3 Grand Tours.
I'm aiming to do videos about the Globe 580 Transat which starts on Sunday and also the 2025 Mini Globe Race which sets off on 23rd February (five legs in total) and many other events so there should be plenty to keep you entertained!
@Sail-World OK thanks for that, will have a look 👍
@@Sail-World o cool! i am going to enjoy that - i was dreading the great black abyss there too, after the last VG-report...
Conrad Colman has one of the most mentally/emotionally balanced minds i have ever encounted. There he is admist the centre of nautical Hell, just loving it.
Great coverage and content as usual, love the sir robin knox Johnson article, also the video cam in corner of boats while your talking.🎉
Thank you! It was great to chat with Paul, he's so passionate about sailing! Can't imagine where he gets that from!
Great to see the emotion Arnaud has for taking a final last step toward the finish.
Great reporting. Thank you 👍
You're welcome and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Thank you for your show every day!
My pleasure!
Talking about Robin Knox J, I took my boat down the Thames to welcome him in London, after he had completed his race in Plymouth. I realy couldn’t believe how small his boat “Suhaili” was.
Seeing Suhaili up close is remarkable. She doesn't look that big even in the Solent! Paul H-K and I were supposed to be talking business, but the Vendee dominated much of our conversation!
I love how former teacher Dee Caffari ends the interview with "everyday is a school day". 😁
Conrad, enjoys whatever is thrown at him. Iceberg, Cape Horn “the stone”, high winds, cold air, nasty sea conditions. It’s really amazing, how he ‘accepts’ whatever the state maybe. Almost spiritual.
I could listen to him for hours!
Love the comments from Boris : if the race was easy then everyone would be doing it:🎉
Sebastian, w a broken foil, still doing great!
Love it❤
Jubilation and fleet compaction. Very tricky North Atlantic options. Common theme: boat preservation, choppy seas.
Yes technology has changed the game how about the boats sale the race minus all electronics info and see how good the sailors really are
K•Line Des produits attrayants et élégants. 🇨🇦 Je veux juste reconnaître les partisans de Vendée Globe.
Rainbow Roger that
Johann has a faster boat in tallwind, so theoretically nothing is done for the victory, just next to the exclusion zone winds may be more favourable for Johann.
But we just learned that Johann has almost lost his J0
His J0 suffered severe tears
Unless he is bluffing, his J0 seems to be unfixable
So this could be the potential REAL turning point of this battle
I don't believe for 1 second he is bluffing, he's just not the type and that isn't something you can really fake. Also even assuming he still tries to sew up the sail, that would take him massive time which a) he spends withtout that sail and b) he can't spend fine-tuning the steering and all the other adjustments, which is a massive blow.
More and more experts and observers were saying that it was looking more and more certain that Dalin would win, but by a slim margin due to a final approach in the Golf de Gascogne being more favorable to Richomme's boat, if I understood correctly.
But this event for me really puts that to bed. I don't see how Dalin can't win unless he breaks something too. Although, on the tracker it still says he's going really fast so I assume he can still be close to 100% especially in high wind stretches where they don't put the full sails on anyway.
This race is so fast moving, with so much happening even since I recorded my video. I'm trying to assess how much he needs his J0 for the closing stages and 100% think this is no bluff.
@@vladfromfrance What about not sewing the whole tear but taking a shorter time just to keep it from tearing any further? Should that be the best compromise solution?
If Seb Simon win the race Juan K will have designed the best boat from the Vendeè 2024 for the best sailor. What a race. Now I wish he can still win. OMG
Aucunes chances ! Mais SÉBASTIEN est un grand marin !
Seb Simon is not running a Juan K boats.... this is a Verdier boat the one which won the Ocean Race 2023
No Koumoudjian boats are running in official races since 2021, the Koumoudjian sisterships of 2020 are both on sale since ... 2021. Theses were Paprec Arkea of 2020 (Arkea Paprec of 2024 is another boat designed by Antoine Koch/Finot Conq), and "Corum Epargne " of 2020 with Nicolas Troussel who lost his sponsor just after VDG 2020/ 2021 and so was unable to race.
@ Yes, you are right. He was with a JK boat 2019 but not in this race. Now the race is two Verdier versus one Finot Conq/Koch.
How much prize money is up for grabs?
200,000 first prize
There's almost no chance Richomme can win at this point. He would need to average over 3 Knots faster than Dalin for the next 53.5 hours to makeup the gap, and based on how Dalin has consistently maintained the lead throughout the race, the window of reasonable time for Richomme to overtake him has all but closed.
