    The ILX has flown under the radar for the past few years, and now it's making way for the Integra. Would you scoop one up now or wait to see what next year's every level Acura looks like?

    this is the most reliable Acura in the line up and faster than the new Integra.

      You're probably right. The NA motor and less tech means less to go wrong. The Civic SI and Civic Sport Touring are great though, so I imagine handling and ride quality and tech are likely better in the Integra.

    For a model that started life as a 9th gen civic...Acura did what they could to keep it modern. Love the torque converter on the DCT to make that low speed clunkiness go away.
    Thanks for the video!

      Yeah, they're definitely working with some dated technology, but it was a nice little car. Very excited to see what comes next with the Integra though!

      Yeah, it definitely surprised me! I'm really looking forward to the Integra. The styling doesn't seem great, but the 2022 Civic is really good and the SI looks to be much improved in terms of driving dynamics. It should be a pretty solid car 🤞

      Yeah, the interior could definitely use an update. The new Civic has a very nice dash so that's good news for the Integra.

    I actually really like this car. People say the infotainment is dated. I had a 2018 TLX and it is the same. Some people are ok with having what they know already. I know it changed in the 2023 Integra, but it still is better than the Nissan I had in 2015.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  11 месяцев назад +1

      100%. If it's what you're used to, it doesn't feel dated. It's really just tough if you're going backwards from more tech to less. At the same time, it can be kind of refreshing getting into something that doesn't have a big screen in it at this point as well ha. I can definitely see the appeal.

    I bet they are practically giving these away like Honda put everyone who applied for an Accord in 2017 got them.. Honda Credit isn't easy to get.. My Daughter went to look at a used CR-V and left with a new 2017 Accord V6 Touring.. She just paid it off and it looks and runs like it did the day they pulled the plastic off the seats and unwrapped it.. She says she's not even thinking about another car because this one is paid for.. Hopefully she'll listen to me and buy a Home of her own now.. I got her debt-free and down to using just one credit card.. And the charge card from her job.. House is next.. She'll have the House paid off in 15 years and the Honda will still be running like a 🏆 champ...

      Nice! Glad your daughter is loving her Accord and it's holding up so well! Yeah, this one would be a good one to try to get a deal on since they're not seeing a whole lot of love these days.

    I feel like this could car fade into obscurity (if it’s not there already) and be a bargain to buy used in a few years

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  2 года назад

      Yeah, I kind of feel like you can probably already get a good deal on it even new. The problem is that it almost doesn't feel worth it to buy over a top trim Civic anymore.

      Just fly out and drive it back or have it shipped to you. You'll still save a lot that way. I'm surprised anybody is charging over for an ILX with the Integra out now though.

  • @thatinformativeguy
    @thatinformativeguy 2 года назад +1

    Well the Integra is out now, so hello to even more discounts and significant depreciation on these as if it was getting any attention anyway.😂 Fun thing is I don’t see a DCT in the Integra.👀

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, I'm kind of surprised at how many of these they produced, but if anyone is looking for entry level luxury for cheap, now's the time to scoop one up. Yeah, I really wish they'd put a DCT in the Integra. I can't say I'm too surprised that they didn't though.

      @@GearboxCarReviews Yeah… it is Acura we’re talking about… look at the TLX Type S, not that it’s a bad car, it’s just rather underwhelming.🤷‍♂️

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  2 года назад +1

      @@thatinformativeguy I feel like the TLX Type S is a marketing issue more than anything. Like you said, it's not a bad car, it's just underwhelming. The use of the Type S badge and the fact that they put it on track for the media set the expectations all wrong.

    • @thatinformativeguy
      @thatinformativeguy 2 года назад

      @@GearboxCarReviews Exactly, do you know how ridiculous the car would be if they kept using the old concept from the first gen TLX? The first gen V6 TLX started at $35,000. Okay fine, car shortage, inflation, blah blah blah, XYZ, I get it. They couldn’t charge just $35,000 for a TLX Type S that has 60+ more horsepower 6 years later. But $55,000?! No. Just no. Make it $45,000, the Stinger does still exist too, but they’d be able to get away with the “the Stinger isn’t a luxury car” excuse and be the cheapest compact “luxury” car in its class. But what do I know… we don’t know what all it took to make a Type S anyway…

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  2 года назад

      @That Informative Guy There is more to it than just the engine though. Honda/Acura has never been about power. Comfort, reliability, handling, are all things it does well. And I think the pricing is probably about right for the segment. I'd pit it against the G70 before the Stinger, and personally I'd pick the G70. But if ride quality and reliability are higher on the priority list, then the Acura wins. I just think they should've maybe let Type S die and come up with a new moniker, and instead of putting it on a track, put it on a back road or something. I think you and I aren't the right market, even though it seems like Acura targeted us, if that makes sense.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  Год назад

      Definitely fair. Initial impressions, it was better than my expectations, but can't really speak to long-term. Sorry to hear yours isn't holding up too well. The biggest problem I think is that it's based off of a couple of generation old Civic, so definitely due for an upgrade (hence the Integra).

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  2 года назад +3

      For sure, you definitely don't want to rush into it. Honestly, at 30k for a sedan that's comfortable but still punchy, I'd look at a Mazda3 turbo. It really does everything the ILX does but better and it has AWD as a bonus. Even the new Civic Sport Touring is really nice and drives really well, and it's definitely leapfrogged the ILX. The only thing I don't love is the CVT in the Civic. The GLI is also worth a look, if you want something that's more sporty felling and you add in the LSD, but will sacrifice a little ride quality and noise.

      I have the same car and I don’t think the trans is bad at all I like the DCT. I think it does make a lot of noise on the road tho, maybe the noise cancellation doesn’t last long who knows. I also complain about the interior because throughout its years, they haven’t really updated it.

      Hey, thanks I appreciate the comment. I'm definitely still trying to find a balance, since I believe some people are interested in the person making the content as well as the cars themselves. Many of the big name auto reviewers have the camera on themselves for most of the review, and I also want to provide some extra background info and information about the car for the people that are interested in more than just the car itself. I'm going to try to be better about adding chapters as well, so people can skip around more easily. Thanks again!
