Here you are from a foreign nation and you are presenting stuff that has yet to be produced here. You are awesome. Thank you so much for your awesome contributions! Keep them coming.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I've been to most of the places you've visited over the last 30 years, so it's in part a trip down memory lane for me.
Jealous does not even start to describe how I'm feeling right now! This log of your trip, and especially your flights, is Amazing! Thank you once again!
I got up this morning, had some breakfast, turned on my computer, looked at facebook, forums and things. Then I came on youtube and saw that there were 3 beautyintheuniverse videos in my subscriptions box and it instantly made my day a good one :D It's awesome that you are putting all this on youtube. thunderf00t and beautyintheuniverse are my two favourite channels right now. I know that every video that is put on those channels will be of excellent quality and will be interesting to watch :)
It's the accent that caused the officer to feel insecure. My accent is neutral/English and I had a police officer call me a smart-ass over nothing. I should clarify I live in the US. Just nod and smile, b/c you cannot win. Incidentally, six stars for yet another stunning video!
"Thank god that bomb landed in that smoking crater." - Chief Wiggum Excellent video! It makes me want to go on a road trip of my own. Hopefully there will be no more troublesome rangers in your future.
Wow. I visited Crater Lake in August of '69 at age 16 while on a road trip from the east coast with 5 buddies. I thought then, that it was the most beautiful place on the planet and in the past forty years that opinion hasn't changed. Why I haven't thought to look for YT vid of it, I don't know. I've done some RC plane mounted vids myself, so your ballsy flight was amazing to see. Five stars. Think I'll go dig up my 8mm movie of Crater Lake...
Good vid. Been to crater lake twice in the winter and summer. I'm not to sure if the 20 feet of snow or the 75 degree summer days(I live in Texas) are more fun. It's an awesome site to see though.
re: Sigh, the officious are a bane on society. I thought that was brilliant, and I enjoyed reading the rest of the description very much as well!! kudos :)
Ah the joys of encountering Ranger Rick! Too bad they don't understand that being nice only helps the situation and acting as the ranger did to you escalates it.
OMG, sooo beautiful! That is an amazing area, it almost look fake! Wow, I watched the whole video man :) well ok.. I admit, I skpped a little bit.. but I watche dto the end :) But I still couldn't figure out what plane that is... what is it?!? Is that you?!? I didn't think you were australian or english or whatever that accent is ;p doesn't quite look like you either, although I could be wrong ;p
#1 You are wearing a virtual display for FPV flight which obscures your immediate view. #2 You do this while standing inches from cliffs that drop of for hundreds, sometimes thousands of feet. I think it is safe to say that we all appreciate the epic views you are providing us from your journeys across the US but if it is the lottery you are interested in just go buy yourself a ticket... :)
He kind of has already. He's given some detailed views of the pan and tilt camera mechanism and has commented on the various components in the total system. Other than the pan/tilt mechanism it's all pretty simple. Oh, the headset setup appears to be crude. If it's the same as it was when he featured it, it's just some sort of digital camera (or something like that) with a video input that he's mounted onto a bicycle helmet so it's hanging in front of one eye.
Man TF is making me want to make a setup like that for my little park flyer. It's lighter weight than TF's plane, it can't handle wind as well, but it could lift a lightweight video setup, I've used it to lift a P&S camera that probably weighs more than the lighter weight all in one wireless video cameras. Actually what I should do is find a light weight and inexpensive P&S, I might be able to get higher quality output but no live monitoring ability. For those in the know, mine is a Slow Stik
Goddamnit thunderf00t - stay away from the fucking edge! Great video. Truly awesome view from where you were at and very clever using the 2nd camera! :)
I'm sorry about the mean ranger, Tf! I'd give you a hug if I were there! But Tf, you really need to post the names of the songs you use! You make us all want songs we can't find!
I had no idea this was Thunderf00t!! Please check out my version of this flight, I'm sure you'll like it. Shame I missed you on your trip, I'd have loved to have met you in person!

Keep them coming.
I just can stress enough how much I enjoy this video series. The "split" screen effect was great. Thanks man!

Great post. I didn't take a vacation this year. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through yours!
The blue of crater late does not convey to photos or video. Truly spectacular to behold with ones own eyes.
You took my breath away twice...first with the lake and then with the drop-off
That was a beautiful landing. That water is so blue; it is breathtaking.
Crater lake has some of the cleanest, most pure water to naturally occur in the whole world.
these videos makes me happy. i love watching them.
Very cool that you got to do some flying there. Triumphant landing! Once again, great scenery and interesting geology.

I thought that was brilliant, and I enjoyed reading the rest of the description very much as well!! kudos :)
That's some altitude for the plane. Beautiful place.

This is so cool! I wish I had a plane like that.. Have you ever actually lost a plane?
How does that help if it crashes in the middle of that huge lake? :D
Wrt the volcano, how long ago are we talking?

OH MY GOD.
Howd YOU BUILD SOMETHING WHICH FLY BUT DOESNT BEAT FEATHER WINGS?
Song is The Space Brothers, Heaven Will Come
is that an Edward Current prayer amplifier on your head
No, there's a ferry ride to the Island in Summer months.
I'd love to know what the music on this video is.
I like how some people, when given even the smallest amount of authority, go completely power hungry on innocent people.
Wah! Thanks!
sweet beats
this guy is awesome
Couldn't agree more!
haha that chuckle at 3:58 is priceless
The science wizard flys his plane to wizard island. Cool.
Beautiful. =)

The space-time continuum was sooo 60 years ago :P
Very nice!
Amazing
Nice head gear!
Heaven will come.
Holy shit, I just realized you look like Doc Brown from back to the future what that mind reader device on your head.

I'm sorry about the mean ranger, Tf! I'd give you a hug if I were there!
But Tf, you really need to post the names of the songs you use! You make us all want songs we can't find!

If only I had the time to do the things you do
America The beautiful!
TF always gets epic-ass music.
Suggestion: Incubus - Aqueous Transmission
very cool
There seems to be a thumbs down campaign on this video. If you support TFoot, thumb up the positive comments.
At 8:30 it looks like he's standing in front of a mural. It looks like the lighting on him and the background are different. Who agrees w/me?
**hugs**
"I haven't tested this plane to see if it flies yet, so I'm going to strap a bunch of expensive electronics onto it and throw it off a cliff"
That crater is the remnant of the great flood. Oh wait. Nevermind. A remnant of the great asteroid. or something.
man this guy is looking crazy hairy
man you make me feel dizzy leaning out over the edges
he has already done that.
Lol, yeah... I could never make the landing on the aircraft carrier.
What's teh craic with your song choices TF? Are they crowd pleasers or stuff you're into or what?
any landing you can walk away from.
Thunderwin
Why don't you fly it looking at the airplane's video display? Then you wouldn't have to worry about keeping it in view.
I had no idea this was Thunderf00t!! Please check out my version of this flight, I'm sure you'll like it. Shame I missed you on your trip, I'd have loved to have met you in person!
should tour Canada some time tfoot
