I’ve been here many times in my life especially when I was younger. I still wake up looking for an inhaler. I always forget how scary it is now my four-year-old daughter is so bad with asthma. I can’t sleep by getting anxiety. She’s having an asthma attack right now with an inhaler that’s on zero but it’s not completely empty, she breathes in and out so fast and she has a little wheeze. This is because we went to the carnival and beautiful weather. Every time we go out this would happens to fuck you Covid.

I'm having a asthma attack while I type this. My chest feels tight, my throat feels clear of obstruction, but I'm still having trouble breathing properly. It's scary as hell and I feel like I'm dying. I know I'm not, but it's just scary.
I hope this is helpful to anyone reading this.
It's scary, you're not dying, you're okay, and it's only temporary.
    It's all mental,
    get somewhere where you're comfortable,
and get with someone you feel comfortable with, and just Relax. You're okay... Just Relax

I had an asthma attack today and I freaked out. I ran around trying to find my rescue inhaler but I couldn't find it. I texted my mom and she told me to start hot a shower so it can expand my airways. Finally after like ten minutes my dad came with my rescue inhaler! I'd forgotten how scary it can be to have an asthma attack bc I haven't had one in 8 years and it was very terrifying

Keep spare inhalers at home, work, school in the car at peoples home's you visit ect. One inhaler is not enough. Always carry an inhaler if you have asthma. When one inhaler is getting close to empty, I carry a second full one with me. When I travel I always bring a second or third inhaler, in case I lose one.

I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned, but for many, having a caffeinated drink can help, as caffeine is a bronchodilator (albeit a mild one). Tea or cola came in handy for me at various points. Drinking water in general can help. And if you have access to steam, it is useful for some. You should not encourage them to lie down, that makes it harder to breathe. Sitting, leaning forward works. Do all these things before it becomes bad enough that it's a huge emergency.

The pressure points to treat asthma are right below the clavicle. Look em up. I lay on my stomach with my pillow under my breast and then stuff a towel under my clavicle so that it feels hard/tough as if someone is pressing it. Then I hang my head down a little and put something under my head for support while it’s hanging. I feel this draining the phlegm from my lungs and the lung that has more pressure on the clavicle is actually clear. I also have someone massage up and down my upper spine. Forcing a burp or few also helps if you need instant clarity at least for a few seconds at a time. No pump 😢 and this is a life saver rn. Was about to pass out. Smh

Yes, slowing down the breathing definitely helps. Making sure they rest and stop talking. I personally find a cough sweet works better than any inhaler and I have severe asthma. The mention of caffiene is also really helpful too especially in a hot drink. I find a bit of sugar in the drink helps too.

I've been slowly going off my inhalers. Not on purpose. I mean I just forget or my breathing feels great. Even when I lay down. I notice how my breathing is. It's deep and slow. No restriction like that feel of breathing through a pillow. Nothing. I laid there. Hmm. I didn't take my inhaler tonight. It's been like that off an on.
But now I have learned a trick to get back to breathing. I use one airline breathing tubes. Mine goes up to 4000 ml. I can get to 2000 to 2500ml. It teaches me to inhale slowly all the way and then let it out slowly without using that gizmo. Once I do that 3 or 4 times my breathing is back on track working normally without a care in the world. Except I do have my rescue inhaler in my pocket. God knows I was out shoveling snow and I completely couldn't suck air. And my inhaler was inside the house by 6 ft. I grabbed it. A few puffs an I was 👍 good. Close call. Just before seeing this video I had to slowly inhale, exhale slow. About 4 times. Now I'm feeling great. Don't leave home without it.
I did see my doctor about it. She said just quit. What?! Is she nuts?! She's never had asthma. Do it at your own pace. And let God almighty guide you in how to get off it. Them meds cause muscle stiffness and cramps. And I can't remember when I had that last. All is good.

I had a severe asthma attack at a party once and it was the worst feeling of my life because I got very close to dying. The feeling of not being able to breathe is HORRIBLE. My dumbass left my inhaler at home. I was panicking and hitting the walls. A friend noticed me and was trying to ask what was wrong. I couldnt talk. I eventually collapsed on the floor. It was like all the sound got muted and everything was a blur. I was surrounded by people at this point. Someone ran to get their mom who was a nurse. I ended up vomiting on the floor and was suddenly able to take a breathe. I was crying and three people had to help me into a bathroom. My face was dark purple. I looked like something out of a horror movie. The nurse said me throwing up was the best thing that could have happened. I did not know until that night but if you do not have an inhaler and you begin having an asthma attack, make yourself throw up because it forces open your airways. I feel the need to share that advice with everyone now. Be careful out there.
