The two paddles in my bag are the Apollo & Jelly Bean, and for the same reasons you give......gawd I want to frankenstein these two paddles together so bad......I keep rotating between them; trading spin/feel for power & then back again all the time.
I have the Apollo and the Jelly Bean, and I go back and forth trying to decide which is my favorite. Equal but different. I agree 100% with your description and assessment of their play qualities. Keep up the good work.
I love my Hyper Beat Two! Noticed a difference in my game from the first time used it. Have more power and control with the Beatnik Paddle. Excited to try more products from the brand!
Awesome review! I bought the Hyper Beat from Beatnik two months ago and I'm thrilled with its performance. A lot of my friends are starting to buy it. It gives you the performance of any paddle close to $200, but at half the price. Personally I love the graphs. There's so much more out there beyond the well-known brands trying to charge us $250 for a paddle.
So happy you like them. Spending that amount on a paddle is definitely harder to justify for a lot of people these days and sounds like you’re not regretting that decision at all :)
You should take a look at the Hisk Rav Pro with T 700 carbon fibre for $69.99, come with cover, carbon eraser, replacement grip and wrist bands, great value.
Spartus Apollo is the best paddle on the market. I had tried all the expensive paddles from joola, Selkirk to Proton, ect. They do not play better than the Apollo to me. Even the J2k feels overrated for me.
@@pickleballtechdude you should def consider checking it out! with discount code, its below $120. It's a hybrid Kevlar paddle that uses "Gen 3" core for great power. It's not as powerful as Joola gen 3 and like paddles, but i think its more controllable than those. and they donate 50% of their earnings to charity which is really cool
I appreciate your paddle analysis. A big question on all paddles is how long they will retain their new characteristics when used. Do they get more powerful as they get broken in or do the cores crush? How fast do they lose spin? How many hours of play do you get out of a particular paddle assuming your a 3.5 - 5.0 with a decent drive? Not an exact science but maybe one paddle relative to another?
This is something I’m actively working to establish a method for! For what it’s worth I would expect these paddles to last you 4-5 months minimum at a 3.5 level vs 2 months or so at a semi-pro to pro level, considering how much more you’re playing and with higher intensity.
@@pickleballtechdude it’s needed. At this point tho I can still keep up w Gen 2 but it’s annoying. And the trampoline effect is way different than power or pop. The issue is the deception. Can’t judge the speed when there’s no swing or half swing.
@@pickleballtechdude They already exist. Nexus Prostar, Pickln Alecto gen3 and the Ace Heart. Since Gen 3 paddles are in the catalog for many Chinese manufacturers, I think many more gen 3 paddles are coming to the market under the $150 mark.
@@adriankeen6095 i own the Pickln Alecto 3 and it's awesome! it's not quite as powerful as the Joola Gen 3 models, but i find it more controllable. And it's below $120 so that saves me a ton of money compared to buying the Joolas

As a Harvard trained engineer I have high hopes for you to "go where no man (one) has gone before." Cheers
Gen 1.5s are gonna have trouble competing in advanced. Way too underpowered v Mod TA and Joola 3s
The day we get a Gen 3 budget paddle will be crazy…

Awesome! They have new colors coming on those soon :)
