Chutes fail all the time, it's far to common in racing. It only takes one mistake when you're packing them to cause them to not deploy properly. Mad props to chuck because if he hadn't reacted the way he did he would have T-boned Monza and that wreck might have been fatal
a 5 point harness and a roll cage can really save your life. every bad wreck ive seen that the driver walked away from with virtually no injuries had all the proper safety equipment. there is a reason almost all tracks require it!!!

Cars can be replaced, but a world class drag racer cannot. Pushing their cars to the absolute edge of peak performance takes special breed of human being. Thank God they put just as much effort into the safety aspects as they do their performance.
Watching this makes me want to play Need for Speed ProStreet just so I can break out my favorite dragster cars built-in tuned the correct way in the game anyways
When a crash like that happens or any car crash, the most important thing is to make sure the drivers or don't worry about the car, cars are fixable and replaceable but the driver isn't. THE DRIVER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A CAR.

Only really know when you got it apart and get to detailed checking and inspecting. Maybe wishful thinking that some of his kit has survived and allow him to claw back the costs a bit. I know how much they cost in both financial and emotional terms and don't want to see anybody hurting. Just know his fellow racers going to rally around him like they done for all the others, like chief after his big off.

Besides the speed and racing. That's exactly how I wrecked my 67... only a month of ownership, going to class, light turns red sp I started slowing down then all of a sudden tears locked and hopped and it was busy intersection, roll into the same intersection, or use the light post to stop.

I think when he lifted off the throttle abruptly it upset the shock rebound and started the slicks bouncing after that it was all over but the ride sometimes having heavy wheels will benefit in keeping tires planted

Are you kidding, they have it made. Get to race on a familiar street with the “relative” safety of a track, he didn’t have to worry about getting arrested and if something unfortunate were to happen such as a tree limb coming in the car, healthcare within seconds vs several minutes. The overhyped drama sucks, but at its core, you have to give these guys credit for being able to do what they love in the manner they are able to do it.
I like the show but id love to see real street races, with car's people can actually drive. I'm no street racer, but imo what kills the whole "street" aspect, is using cars that never touch the street. From a trailer to the track doesn't seem "street" to me. I get that when you're racing at such high speeds thing's like wheely bars, parachutes, roll cages, safety suits and helmets are the safest, but since when is anything street synonymous with safe? When I think street race I think raw, gritty, dangerous and illegal, but what do I know.

In Street Outlaws, Daddy Dave and Monza are two of my favourite persons. They are calm asf!

They are racing 1/8 mile or 660 feet the 330 foot mark means half track or 1/16 of a mile
