Duuuude you guys need to address these issues way more. I think this generation needs this kind of guidance because everyone is scared from marriage (including myself lmao) when it's one of the simplest most beautiful things in life.

Thankyou so much for bringing these points. Our society needs to understand that if a man wants to quit his job and spend time with his family dont blame him. It is his right. And yes equal partnership is very important in marriage life. Both husband and wife needs to support each other.

Was talking to my fiance about this yesterday only and came across your podcast. Loved every bit of it. Helped me make him understand that it's okay for a man to take a break from what society thinks is solely his job - a woman surely can be the sole bread winner of the house if circumstances allow. There's nothing feminine about sitting back at home taking some time off and spending the time with your kids if that's what a guy wants. Marriage truly is a partnership! Amazing amazing insight.

Conversations around gender are so toxic and one-sided. not this one though. You were able to present the perspective of both genders and that too in such a curteous and constructive way that it clears the air and shows the way forward.

I feel like there is so much interference of societal norms and families in a couple's marriage. I believe if we let the couple figure out these conversations regarding equality in the union, finances and everything. Humna is right when she said mostly men in our society don't know how to work as a spouse in a marriage after wedding.

Appreciate the talks by our fave power duo!
Some points, not to be overlooked, are that by default women are given less rights (which are theirs to exercise and not supposed to be "given" by men) for the fear of men losing "power" over women, when they aren't given their fare share in inheritance, not allowed to study or work, or go out to have a life of their own. Girls are raised and even educated to "support" a man in living his life to his best. The moment girls start making and living their own life or become successful, the whole world turns against them, be it men or women, and discredits them personally. Kudos to girls who are striving to work and help our society transition into one where men learn how to be supportive to their female life partners as a team, and vice versa, because women also need to learn how they may truly understand and be supportive of their husbands!

Muzamil and Humna the conversations you two have are so thoughtful and at the same time thought-provoking. I have listened to it twice and yes I would be looking forward to such more conversations from you two. We general awaam is so often times confused and get to listen too many horror stories that happen on the extreme side and quote them as examples before taking a step as a result we make mistakes living the intermediate life. We really need to listen to such general conversations to break the bubble of fantasy and idealistic lives.
As you said during the podcast you wanted to take the conversation to the other side so please do an episode on that.
I agree with you that men/boys these days want a partner who is equal to them, independent and can have conversations with but at the same time are confused as well. They know what they want but they give in to what their parents pick for them and as a result the marriages don't work out. Or they marry the one they chose but later it hits them marriage was not what they wanted. I would want you to have a discussion on how must men be educated as well before they tie the knot.

I wish I could just address myself in a voicenote because I have so much to say and specifically when I watch your podcast it makes me wanna have a similar talk and they always make me process my own opinions and rethink and evaluate those as well, seeing you both from months now and You're mashallah this power couple that inspire other couple and even single people like me! I loved this Podcast as well and I think you should definately make more like these.. cause the tragedy of our generation is half of the people like me are scared and half of them settle for less cause they don't know that there are ways to adjust in a relationship... and there are so many problems but people just assume that there's no way of going through them and solve them and I love that YOU ARE WILLING TO ADDRESS THAT. We don't "need" couples that show how much they love each other (we or I definately love that ofcourse) but, I think its rather we need couples that are public figures who address and show people that it is possible to have a successful marriage even if its a love or an arrange one. That you just need to be understanding enough! and there's always going to be a way out of all that stereotype bullshit or the societal pressure or the fear of something going wrong. Cause being married to another individual (lets not fantasize it for a minute) is a journey in itself. Its a journey to grow and learn together! to be scared together but having the courage and mindset to work it out!
