I'm always down for some HIM. Was a big part of my playlists when I was younger and also heavily influenced my singing. They have a decent number of really good songs, so I recommend people to give them a go. Also now the singer Ville Valo is coming back after laying low for a while so I'm a happy camper 🥰
If you want good music from them look for Sleepwalking past hope or the path. Lyrics hit me so hard! Also his version of Chris Isaac's wicked game! Ville Valo is touring solo soon, seeing him in Barcelona february the 14th!

I did see HIM in concert at the Orpheum Theater several years back. They were really good. Ville sounded great that night. Glad you enjoyed this cover. I believe they did this around 2004.
H.I.M was a beautiful part of my teenage years, and it hurt me a lot when the other members of the band basically decided to break up and not tell Ville about this decision until the very last moment. It felt like a painful stab in the back. And since then, I haven't heard from him as a solo artist, but I wish him the best of luck.
Finland has a lot of great bands, especially rock\metal ones, they are experts in producing them, although they are not everyone's cup of tea. Anette Olzon (Ex-Nightwish) did a collaboration with The Rasmus, another one of my favorite Finnish bands called October And April, it's a beautiful ballad you could check it out if you want, one of these days?

Damn. I didn't know they broke up like that considering they did a full final tour together.
I saw him about a week ago. Headlines cancelled so very little people there but it was more intimate that way but he cut the set list short. But he did have a good amount of HIM songs on it.. wish he did more like pulled out an acoustic or something but he was still great.
So happy Ville is coming back with new music ❤️ With that voice you shouldn't sing only in shower 😍 And nowdays he is also sober 👍🏻

I think Ville Valo is one of the best singers in Finland! In my opinion others are Marko Hietala, Tomi Joutsen and Marko Saaresto.
Ville has a 5 octave voice, smokes the whole time he sings...never heard him hit a bad note...even when he was wasted.

To be honest I don't remember the exact year it came out but it's waaaaay older. I had hair back then. Amazing choice Eric. Anything from His Infernal Majesty (HIM) would be awesome 😎
Been a big fan of HIM since the first album came out, I love Ville Valo's voice and his songwriting style, very dark Gothic romantic songs. The covers have been fantastic as well, Ville just has a certain something in his voice that I love. You are right it has a darkness yet is bright which fits the songs lyrics, another good example is Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence
HIMs logo the Heartagram can be seen all ovver the place in the UK and Europe, people who know nothing about HIM will get it tattoed on themselves even

This was one of the tracks my brother and I used to ease my parents into rock and metal. Not an Elton John fan, but with you on Lucy. For Little Wing I tend to gravitate to the Concrete Blonde version. Unexpected live covers at gigs are like Christmas morning. There is always that present that you didn't know you wanted, or needed, until it's right in front of you and from that moment on you can't be without. The Locomotive Breath if you will....

And Ville's last name Valo means light in finnish.

Uber Cool to see this Reaction, Thanks 😃👍🤘Answer to your question: HIM: Solitary Man (Music Video 2004), it was released as a single. So this was recorded in their early years (First Album 1997 and Album "Dark Light" was released 2005, where the hit song "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly" was in).

More HIM, not their greatest radio hits but their older stuff that were really really great compared to their newer stuff. Ville Valo has also some great Finnish cover songs but it would propably make no sense for you to check them out,
OH YES was my initial response when I saw the title of this video! There are so many good songs from them and the voice of Ville is divine if you ask me so please do more HIM.

I totally get you on the different versions of songs. I'm a long fan of Pink Floyd and High Hopes has always been one of my favorite songs. However, I find myself going for the version by Nightwish from their End Of An Era show.
I only remember one song from Neil Diamond - I am...I Said. It is beautiful. H.I.M vocalist Ville Valo. We used to hang around in a same music scene. He is so polite, kind, friendly and good-hearted person that is hard to believe such people exists. Yet HIM's "love metal" was not my cup of tea. I believe this band was quite popular also in US as they sold gold there in their album DARK LIGHT 2005.

Their golden years were 1997 - 2010 - in USA they teamed up with Bam Margera (that time skate board Star with Tony Hawk etc. and part of JackAss group and movies). Bam directed some of H.I.M.'s music videos and sponsored them around as a band. They called their music style as Love Metal. Their symbol/Logo is a Heartagram, which is basically a down sided Pentagram with two upper branch of the pentagram are shaped as a Heart together with the lowest branch (can be seen painted in white in the floor in the video). They ended the band on 2017 and the singer and song writer Ville Valo now makes a solo album of non-HIM style music and goes by the artist name of VV and has released 3 songs already (also in YT). He tours USA on the spring 2023 and a lot of HIM fans have made the concerts outsold.
If U listen to them deeply, you will fall in love immediately...believe me😏👌
Shared similar matriarch autos. My mom had a 77 Mustang II, Mach I manual that I bought from her in 84, pearlescent light aqua with black thick striped side air dams. Fun car, but graduated to the muscley 5.0 liter Mustang GT in 88, first New car! Both had cassette players, no CD players yet!
they were a late 90's - 00's band in the gothic rock/metal thing but all of them were talented musicians and they have good songs and good covers
also the guitar player dated Tommy Iommi's daughter for some while, check his solo thing Danny Lioneye
I'm a huge Chris Isaak's fan... and this band has made covers of Chris ISaak 's songs, and I think they might have heard this one from Chris who has made a cover from Solitary Man too

Neil diamond had a great voice but a better writer of songs, this is different then Neil's version but they did it justice more rock God bless
Great song for sure. Not sure if I've heard the original. I wonder which version of "Sound Of Silence" you prefer. Personally I have always loved the original, but I feel the Disturbed version brings power to the lyrics. I have heard of another metal version that someone said they liked better, but I immediately forgot the name, so I haven't heard it yet.

Sorry but i know nothing about Neill Diamond or that other Artist. Only knew that Version from HIM but thanks for that fact. Greetings from Europe. It is nicht H i M. Just him. Ville Valo has even better songs.
