In PR terms, it also defuses the noise after the last race - "It's done. We're both moving on. We can stop talking about it". But they absolutely wouldn't have announced this unless Ocon had something in place. This was a mutual decision behind the scenes and the timing of announcement suited both parties.

KMag is still a risk, so why would a team pick him? By the looks of it, Bearman has the 2nd seat at Haas. Audi and Haas are looking for an experienced driver, and Yuki is a good option. Sainz will go to Williams. Mercedes wants Antonella. Red Bull is keen to get Lawson into Racing Bull but also intends to retain Ricciardo. Perez brings in sponsorship and $$$ to Red Bull; hence, he will be retained. With Honda moving on from Red Bull, Yuki no longer brings sponsorship, $$$ or marketing to the team, unlike Ricciardo. Out of Bottas, KMag, Zhou, Sargeant and Ocon, Bottas is the best option as he is a race winner, is fast and doesn’t crash a lot. IMO, Ocon could join Haas and partner Ollie, a good way to learn team work by having him mentor Ollie.
Personally, I would prefer Liam Lawson goes to Williams. A Red Bull or VCARB seat isn't guaranteed as of right now. He works well with Alex, he has experience in driving one of the worst car on the grid in 23, and he is still somewhat young so he has a lot more potential to unlock. And Logan becomes reserve driver just like how Alex was in 2021 and take his time to actually learn F1.

Imo, I don’t know. Like, none of the top teams need him. And he seems to unreliable for the other teams.
McLaren & Ferrari are sorted for next year.
Red Bull or Merc, almost impossible. As they don’t need him and he might just cause friction with either Max or George. True, they’d probably humble him. But they don’t need him, they need a reliable number two driver.
Aston, I doubt it unless Stroll leaves. And Alpine just got rid of him.
That leaves Williams, RB, Haas or Sauber.
I don’t see Williams, as that second seat is probably Kimi’s anyway. Plus, Ocon might try to battle Albon.
RB, that makes no sense as he’s incredibly unlikely firstly to get that seat instead of Lawson or Yuki or Daniel. Or to get promoted to Red Bull anyway.
    Which leaves Sauber/Audi or Haas.
Haas I don’t see as if Bearman gets the seat, they’d want a reliable experienced driver who won’t try to cause an issue for Ollie.
    Which only leaves Sauber/Audi.

You have Bearman, Antonelli, and Lawson who have all essentially been confirmed that they will get a seat. There are 11 seats available which reduces to 8 once you take Perez, Gasly, and Stroll out. The 8 seats remaining become more complicated when you consider Doohan, Schumacher, Maloney, and Hadjar could all be in contention as well, to varying degrees of probability. That all means once you include Sainz, Bottas, Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Zhou, Magnussen and Ocon you have 14 drivers for 8 seats.
My guess would be of those 8 seats on driver rating and commercial appeal I would think that:
    - Audi: Sainz
    - Williams: Bottas
    - HAAS: Bearman and Ricciardo
    - VCARB: Hadjar and Lawson
    - Alpine: Tsunoda
    - Merc: Maybe Antonelli, Ocon, or Schumacher (Bottas would be better but he won't sign for 1 year)

The reality is that ocon drove for them for 5 years (a long time in F1 terms), won them a race, his contract was up and the car is shit, he was leaving after this season either way. The Monaco incident likely just expedited the announcement. Personally, I don’t think alpine is an attractive seat, the only thing they have going for them is being a works team. But it’s clear that alpine/renault are inherently dysfunctional, which has been showcased time and again since Cyril Abiteboul departed the team. I also think Prost leaving his advisory role was a damning assessment of the team’s commitment to F1 and what is realistically achievable for them. Senior management want results now, and that’s just not how things work. You need to have an infrastructure in place if you want lasting success. Instead they hired and fired Otmar, only to bring in Famin, someone with zero experience running a racing team but was handpicked by senior management internally… he’s a yes man. He tells Alpine management what they want to hear. He can’t even take accountability for this years car being an obese bucket of bolts, instead pointing the finger on figures no longer employed by alpine. Shaking up management can only heed some many results, when the flaws are higher up.

My take right now (and always is) is that Ocon is not a team player, he can play team game as long he is ahead of his team mate. I think he will always put himself over than the team, he is willing to kamikazes himself to get ahead of his teammate. The goal to be above his team mate is to promote himself for the next team.

Other than Bearmen and Antonelli, everybody seems to forget Pourchaire. When everybody was convinced last year that he will have a seat in 2025. Drugovich, and Vesti, (Svarcman ?), all of the is good and they are still there as an option. There are multible options for teams if they want to sign a young driver who proven himself in F2 the only problem is that they are not top priority for anybody as they didn't race much in the past years.

I honestly don't think the Monaco incident was that bad, he was fully alongside; unlike K-Mag who did a full send chassis torpedo on Checo

He was fully alongside when he lunged his team mate on the first lap after being told the driver who qualifies best gets priority the other will do everything they can to support them.

I don't think Yuki to Alpine is a harmonious lineup at all. It might be at first but Yuki has definitely improved from his AlphaTauri days, and they might now be a bit close for comfort, and while he has taken steps to control his emotions massively, they are still there. And I don't particularly trust Alpine to be a calming environment especially as he will want to prove himself and prove to everyone he has gotten better when compared to Gasly.

Still expect Gasly to beat him, Pierre was horrendous in 2022 and still comfortably won the teammate battle

@@Duval-In-The-Wall probably though Tsunoda got closer and closer towards the end, point is that it might cause tension, regardless of who comes out on top in the end.

I know this comment is not really about Ocons departure out of Alpine. But with new available seat outside RB for Tsunoda, does it mean Riccardo + Lawson or there will be another pairing?

If Tsunoda leaves VCARB it will 100% be Lawson and DR
      Which sounds pretty good ngl

He needs to go to WEC and Alpine needs to sign Yuki to reunite him with Gasly

Tommy: 4:50- 5:10 this is for Ocon next year (you say "merc is good with George and Lewis") and Merc does NOT HAVE Lewis for next year; so slot is open

I don't see how Ocon gets a seat because if if teams want a fast driver they pick Sainz, if they want a mentor/moustache they pick Bottas, and if they want to take a risk they bring up a young driver
