- Truck-mounted howitzers which are loaded on a special purpose heavy-duty military truck will be the point of interest due to the high frequency of its uses in the modern military tactics. They are artillery systems used as combat support weapons. They are more mobile than towed howitzers and they usually provide indirect fire, however, if needed, they also have direct-fire capability. Indeed, bomb a tank formation from 30-40 km away with smart weapons, an entire column can be devastated in minutes and the guns are already moving away by the time they know where the shots came from

For precision, i think that is the best platform. All can be set using GPS or galileo system directly transfered by JIM LR laser scope... terrible. You press à button, you wait 5 sec, you press an other one and you are ready to fire... but it need JIM LR to do that. But i think they will send them some...

I don't think there is a ranking, or I don't think it's ranked in order. There is no way a 39 caliber gun ranking above a 52 caliber one.

As a french I put the swedish Archer number 1, then the tcheck 2, the Caesar 3 and the Zuzanna 4 for the price. Now the Caesar 1 has a very big advantage to all howitzers throughout the world, it weighs only 17,7 tons, which allows to transport it in a big plane and gives France the ability to bring it anywhere in the world. Actually the Caesar 1 is not even a howitzer, it's a canon on a truck, that's why it's so light and easy to transport by plane.The Caesar 2 weighs 30 tons, so it's too heavy to be put into a plane. Many people judge the Caesar without taking this into consideration. Another thing, the Caesar 1 can fire as far as 30 kms to 42 kms, so the protections, are useless when you're so far from your adversaries. The Caesar 2 can fire to 55 kms. So guies, don't juge only the weapon, but also it's capabilities to act anywhere in the world, if it's too heavy, it will never move ouside from it's own country !

No no no. The war between Armenia and Azerbaijan showed us that drones and loitering munitions are here to stay, and will not care about you being 30-42km away. That is nothing. And when your firing position is hit by them, you would want to be in an armored vehicle and not standing there like cannon fodder.
You can carry a Caesar 8x8 by plane. The A400M can carry a payload of up to 37 tons and the C-17 can carry 77 tons

@@nedimharacic1809 Already the last two are not the best - kamikaze drones immediately destroy them as they are noticed right away. Kamikaze drones also do a better job than artillery in terms of destroying equipment; for example, 70 km from the front, a lancet hit Ukrainian MIG29 who were far from military operations. Caesar's lancet was more often damaged or destroyed, archer did not change much the conflict in Ukraine - this even applies to pzh2000 - now everything is better only for those who have parity over the production of Drones.
It's funny that the most normal truck is on the number 1 spot when a Caeser 8x8 is at number 5, SO INACCURATE.

There is also the MGS 25 Aleksandar fully automatic with a 100m fiberoptic cable so the shells can be fired from a safer distance with INS/GPS and advanced sensors etc. But the BK 1 Perun should be even better with bigger revolver type magazines, 24 shells and 24 powder charges instead of the 12X12 like Aleksandar has plus an additional magazine that is automatically loaded(both Aleksandar and BK1 Perun) 155mm .

Nora B-52 is actually an old model now, the newest one is BK-1 Perun, it is way better than Nora and it has new projectiles that are rocket-boosted and have greater range (70 km claimed), and it has a capability to fire missiles at different times and they hit at the same time.

Nora and Archer are the two worlds best wheeled SP howitzers, Archer is better but also about two time more expensive. Brutus is just old M777 howitzer installed on truck, there is literally nothing special about this howitzer and it is not even in service anywere.
I must tell you that my opinion is that near your! 100% it's that two best howitzers in the world, but I must tell you in what part Archer have average and don't have against last model of Nora ( upgraded Alexandar MGS-25) ! Onli Archer and Nora have 2-3 the crew in armored cabin! Nobody doesn't go out for cabin to operate the whole sistem and fired from cannon until rounds is in chambers from both howitzers! First different is that Archer have 21 round opposite 24 rounds in Nora chamber! When they fired all of rounds,Nora have behind operates cabin another 24 rounds, opposite Archer. Then Archer must go or wait another vehicle and load one by one manually another 21 round! Another for me big different thing is that Archer have only two "foot" in the back of howitzer! I mean that Nora with 4 "foot" have average in uneven terrain. If we have dent or hole on last part of howitzers,Nora can use hidraulic rate to level the platform, but Archer can't do it. Because in Archer is onli rate on the back side and driver must find flat surface! Another thing is that Archer used only Swedish army! Norway army odered some number of howitzers and then annulled oder!? They're rich country,I doesn't think that Archer was to expensive for them! It must be something about Archer like howitzer. @@nedimharacic1809 Nije tačno, stara je Nora ona od 36 kalibara što se kod vas u BNT-u stavlja na kamionče do duše izđeljali su je na 155mm. Ova iz SBS Velike Plane je nova, 42 kalibra sa novom gasnom komorom, ima i verzija sa 28L gasnom komorom koja i municiju bez gasogeneratora more da pogura na preko 50km. ;)

@@nedimharacic1809 Samohodtla Perun ne postoji to je medijska patka, postoji Nora B52 na FAP-u, Kamazu ili MAN-u i drugi sistem pod nazivom MGS-25 Aleksandar. Arcer jeste bolji ali se ne isplati jer je preskup, zato je Srbija i uspijela izvesti više Nora nego Švedska Arcera. Cezar i ATMOS su poluautimatizovani i posade moraju biti van sistema dok dejstvujuj ne mogu okretati top 360%, Nora je daleko elegantnije rešenje.

BRUTUS is number one just because its American. What a pathetic channel. I have never even heard of BRUTUS before; it has nothing special about it, now that I have read about it. This comes of as a desperate attempt to appeal to Americans because they are the majority that frequent these type of channels along side Indians. 9/10 people who knows even little about military hardware would say Archer should be #1. Serbian,NoraB52-perun-Nr.1
Brutus and Hawkeye (smaller 105 on a Humvee) are cheap and light, intended as possible replacements for towed artillery in the US. They are not in the same category as the more automated and much more expensive systems on this list. While they are cool, they are mostly just towed guns stuck on trucks and cannot be operated from inside the vehicle or solo without a second ammo carrying vehicle. I don't know how they qualify as the top pick unless the key statistic is considered weight or cost. Caesar is similar but heavier and more capable.
I snorted a bit when I saw that, Brutus (assuming it actually gets bought in numbers) is going to be the best regular "traditional artillery" assuming it replaces all the M777s. But as a shoot and scoot SPG it doesn't cut it slow to set up, large crew, no crew protection, and multiple vehicles required. Like you said unless its about being suited for rapid reaction forces its a bad pick. I'd say the real number one is the Remote Controlled Howitzer 155 (RCH 155) assuming it does what claimed in the advertising.
I hope the US's slow updating of their SPG fleet is them waiting for the cream to rise to the top and integrating the best lessons learned from conflicts like Ukraine.

The expected terrain will dictate which is best. Flat land on small highways like the Ukraine speed on lower grade highways, Mountainous highways then short to have max tight maneuvering for narrow curvy roads, travel over sand, snow cold and heat exposure tolerances. Archer looks the coolest. Quick to get around.

Brutus should not even be in the list. This is a mobile M-777, nothing more, nothing less. No crew protection, no auto or semi auto loader, short range.
I suppose by re-using old M-777 it is cheap and most probably air transportable.
Swedish Archer is by far the most advanced artillery system. The Archer is capable of Multiple-Round Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) firing. It launches up to 6 shells in 30 seconds, each in different trajectories, so that all of the shells arrive on target at the same time. Crew is protected (including NBC protection) in cabin and do not have to leave firing it due to its auto loader.
It takes only 30 seconds to stop and prepare for firing. Out of action time is also as short as 30 seconds. None of the other beats this.
Serbia now was developed Perun BK1, automatic loading with 24 projectiles firing range 40-70km,rate of fire 6rpm(3rpm in first 20sec)... and that is for at least second place

Wow, the Archer should be no1. Longer range, faster reload speed, fully automated reloading and recalibrating. A place for mounting a machine gun or even a ground-to-air weapon on top. The crew dont even need to step out of the vehicle while on a misson!

In the video you can clearly see both Slovak howitzers Zuzana 155mm/L45 and Zuzana 2 155mm/L52 (which is not listed but it is having significantly better parameters).
Which actually are Czechoslovak made and used by both nations :| but dana shall be higher
@@yamatokurusaki5790 Dana is Original 152mm howitzer made in 80's in Czechoslovakia (and was actually produced in Dubnica nad Váhom - Slovakia), There is modernized vesrsion of DANA (DANA M2) produced by holding Czechoslovak Group, Which is developed also howitzers DITA 155mm/L45 and most recent MORANA (155/L52). Buts Howitzers Zuzana, Zuzana 2000 and Zuzana 2 are produced by company Konštrukta Defence (Slovak holding DMD group). So most modern are MORANA (not in service yet) and Zuzana 2. All mentioned howitzers are mounted on Tatra truck platform. (produced by CZG) Yes it seems that DMD and CZG are somehow cooperating.

DITA SPG is better than the brutus in every way, but weight. It is armored and needs a crew of just 2, has a faster rate of fire holds 40 rounds, has a longer range can fire multiple warheads, uses NATO standard rounds has GPS-guided munitions, and is faster on-road ad is fully enclosed no danger to crew against small arms.
Still Archer and Caesar are by far the vest, Dita is great too
