Dude totally forgot about the Surge! I would definitely say the Surge SS and Scorch are a lot more under stable than the Drive, and the Surge is more OS. Same flight numbers as a Wraith but generally I think the Drive is the closest to a star wraith Discraft has gotten.
@@SwankyDiscGolfI have an older beat in ESP Surge that I use for shots my wraiths are too stable for. It bombs.

@@SwankyDiscGolfI must have an oddball Scorch then, because mine has about the same flight as my Drive, but the Scorch has more glide and distance.
But how do they compare to the Franklin Discs albatross?

I think innova is the “least consistent” simply because their molds like the wraith and the destroyer have been in production for so long with so many runs while some molds are much newer.
How is a single disc inconsistent just because they offer various kinds of it? Halo Wraiths are beefier than Star Wraiths…everyone knows this, so how does the Wraith get knocked for providing variety?
Because there have been so many runs of the “same disc” throughout the years. Anyone who knows innova discs knows that certain runs from certain years are more desirable for a particular flight. Just because you have two brand new star wraiths doesn’t mean they will fly the same. They could very well be different runs and fly very differently
How can you not feel the esp over the star? One is grippy and one is slippy.

If the domes are similar then based on the height numbers the Wraith being 1.4 will probably feel better for smaller than average hand size and the Drive being 1.7 in height probably feels better for average to larger than average hand size.
Surge came the year after Innova opened the 11 speed slot as a direct competitor just like they released the Force a year after the Destroyer and the Nuke a year after the Boss.
Discraft has been trying to copy/compete with Innova from the beginning. They just never were very successful until they signed McBeth and then Covid exponentially grew the number of players.
My ESP Scorch is more stable than my Star Wraith. I think I got a wonky Scorch? I still bag it for a headwind.

You're getting way more fade out of the Wraith. Do you even watch your flights?
I’m guessing that the wraith releases better out of your hand because it’s shallower than the drive.
If you have small hands yes, bigger hands will appreciate the taller dome

Kinda weird. Between Surges and Scorches you can match discs with any kind of flippy or beefy Wraith.
Best 11 new speed yes. Best distance driver, I don't know. The Strive is very good.

They did not used to be. I had a surge for my main distance driver in Colorado elevation. Someone stole my bag out of my car and then I could never find a similar replacement.
Nothing matches the tern
The Tern is pretty fantastic, but the “Drive” is a different slot in the bag.

I recently bought two Wraiths, identical other than color. When I field tested them they typically landed within a few feet of each other and were surprisingly consistent.
Same color? If you're worried about variance in dome/parting line buying the same color will help minimize that, at least in the Innova world. Granted the inventory doesn't span years of runs. And of course if you find that run that you feel is magic, seek out the rest at all costs as it may never occur again. 😆
I'm curious to test it against all of the Surge's I own. I bet they are basically the same disc. We'll see.

Not a fan of the plastic regarding grip…I’ll stick to my latitude 64 and Innova star plastic. And too close to other discs we all bag…their late to the show ..
