I recommend Running AC unit or a frig but not TV unless you have surge protector with voltage regulator. always start a generator outside with exhaust facing away from the home. follow on instagram #tampatec #howtosetupgenerator
Stay safe Tampatec - yep I got the same generator in the shed which I haven't used in about 7yrs!, but I still ain't getting rid of it; No Hurricanes or Earthquakes here (UK) but we're still vulnerable to the Zombie attack!! lol
Paul Hicks a regular surge protector will do? I'm in a pickle right now in my geneator purchase. Non inverter generators are cheaper. Inverter units much more obviously (Honda, champion, ryobi).
Even with regular electricity still use surge protectors cause a storm will make your regular electricity unbalanced as well.. Surge Protectors should be mandatory for homes cause it will save you $1000.00s of dollars..
Hope you and your family are safe tampatec crazy how long i've been keeping up with this channel (thanks for giving me knowledge to fix things that I don't even own lol)
Man you sure are a dedicated RUclipsr making videos still. I would be out that state with Irma on the wrath. Good luck Tampa tech. Take care of yourself and family.
You have to make sure it's clean electric, I have blown out clocks on micro waves because it's not made to run computers or TV's. It has something to do with the sine wave of the power.
You need on-line UPS to fix that. Any other type of UPS offline or line-interactive won't help and will also burn. And you need to check the UPS documentation for generator compatible feature. Otherwise surge protector wont help neither.
@@DeusEx2323Thank you. I am researching this! I don't want to fry my electronics during a power outage. I am looking on getting a UPS system and your comment really helps.
@@wolfsegovia be careful as I also fried once the online UPS, forgot to unchoke the carburetor on the generator and I did it while the UPS was connected to it, so it was generating 120/130V output choked and after unchoked it spiked to 220/230 with temporary 260 may be, which I believe fried the UPS. In theory it should withstand up to 290 but failed. So, you might consider a regular generator with 12V outputs + 12V car battery + separate inverter with the wattage you need. Easier and cheaper to repair and I believe it might be more secure (never tried it but investigated after multiple trial and error and a lot of thrown money) it is also more upgradable config. Bad thing is you will need casings for the installation or a small hut for the whole thing due to exposed cables and stuff. It still might be better than inverter-generator as most are non-THD compliant or doesn't specify how much total harmonic distortion it has. They just state is electronics-safe which might not be right in many cases. Only Honda and a few brands specify that. Good Luck!
@DeusEx2323 Thanks so much! It is funny that you mentioned inverter + battery. My generator already comes with a "cigarette lighter" connector. I plan to use it with a power inverter rated for regular household electronics. For smaller devices, I plan to use the power inverter to charge large power banks and isolate even more the most sensitive electronics. I hope this works.
Love that at 41 seconds you tell which appliances it will operate. Thanks Tampatec for the tips on starting it outside with exhaust facing away from the home. Will use for refrigerator.
I would advise using an AVR if you pan on using this kind of generators for sensitive electronics like tv and consoles. The voltage has a lot of fluctuations in these generators which may damage sensitive electronics or reduce their life. Take care 👍
Hi, maybe you can answer a question for me I have a Samsung un50ju6500fxza red light flickers, open it up and my calibrators are fine which broad do you recommend to change.
These generators are meant to be used for power tools, and lights. If you're thinking about getting a generator for power outages, or a RV, I recommend getting at least a 3,500 running watt generator.
Since that generator is not an inverter type generator. How long did you ran the tv and ps4 hooked up to it? Did you notice any buzzing or tv image flickering?
The type of power generated makes a difference on what you should hook up to it. Full sign wave is the best. Some things have problems if they are run on less than full sign wave.
Very good generator l am in South Africa here by use we get generator tors like 950 omega it is a 1000 watt generator l have one and also a Suzuki 750 generator
Hey guys you can get the same type of generator at Harbor Freight for $89. It's probably too late to get it now cause most of the stores are probably be closed tomorrow but it doesn't hurt to check, if you can try to pick one up. They do work great.
Paul, First of all hope that all of your family stays safe and that you do not lose power. Also, I thought that I would let your FB watchers know that it's really not a good idea to use those cheap generators to run expensive electronics. The low wattage generators have poor voltage regulation. We(Affordable Mobile TV Repair) have seen quite a few tvs that were used in RV's and boats that were damaged because of poor generator regulation. The only generators that are designed for electronics are whole house generators. So we recommend that you limit the use of portable generators to powering fans, refrigerators, freezers, lights, etc..... another words, its ok to run any electrical application but NO electronic applications. Just my 2 cents worth! Again good luck with the storm.
To run a fridge or small stove with it, would I need an inverter? Or does the appliance plug in directly to the generator (with a surge protector in between I guess)?
Hey i know this doesn't relate to this video but I have a 2009 ford mustang almost same model as yours except mines is soft top. And idk if you have the same issue or not but i HATE how the seats dont allow me to rest the upper seat all the way back into the back seats so i can enjoy a night sky with the top down. Is there any way possible i could mod the seats to allow this??? It is manual, i would only like to be able to lean the seat all the way back. Please respond, i watch your videos almost everyday. Im a big supporter. Thanks in advance.
Dexter Lewis mine go back kinda far but mine are automatic seats so gears and motor only allow that so might have to take apart or replace mustang seats with racing seats.
hey can anyone tell me why at shop jimmy my tv is not there or really any place on the internet seiki lc-40b56 . its not broken I was just looking it up
God please bring electricity back to those affected, and especially to Tampatec because we like him to reply to our comments. When you are safe I hope you read my message. I am not in a rush. I am a diy'er. I am trying to rule out a 110v/50w ac power transformer as the source of my problems. One of the secondary outputs is 35v instead of 45v, regardless of the load. The vcr powers up but has issues. Also, I noticed the STK regulator has missing outputs. STK input is ok. Anyhow, is it safe to substitute the 45v line (now reading 35v), for a variac. My intention is to inject 45VAC into the circuit and observe the effect.
Stay safe that is the same genny Harbor Frieght sales for $89 make sure you turn the gas off if stored for while. That genny will not do 900 watts safe.
👍 I was going to say the same thing. Turn the gas off and let it run until all the gas is out of the line and carb. Prevents gunk and makes it easier to start next time.✌️
I have a TV that somebody gave me but it has three lines going down the screen and it's like it's something scratched it is that repairable and this is inside not on the outside

i realize Im kind of off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream new movies online ?
I’d probably connect a surge protector inline as well. I’ve seen plenty of tvs with blown power supplies due to them being connected to generators.
Good idea
Paul Hicks a regular surge protector will do? I'm in a pickle right now in my geneator purchase. Non inverter generators are cheaper. Inverter units much more obviously (Honda, champion, ryobi).

Best wishes to you and your family Paul
take care @Tampatec here in miami we are getting some of the outter bands since last night
Glad you got some emergency backup power.
Be safe!

The heck with that, run my AC!
If you're staying, let us know how you're doing. I'm in Bradenton. Hoping for the best.
You did a very good job explaining how to run it I appreciate it thank you for making the video
my question is how long could it run for with the tv and playstation
@TampaRec Is there a 1000watt portable gas generator that is quiet?
These generators are meant to be used for power tools, and lights. If you're thinking about getting a generator for power outages, or a RV, I recommend getting at least a 3,500 running watt generator.
You guys can survive!
U bought it from ur brother and he charged u more than amazon would of for a new one in the box, nice brother u have there!
Is that an inverter type? How clean/flat is the sine wave?
can it use for one laptop, one led tv and two led 9W bulbs
I guess you can call after you see if your place will still be there. Good luck with everything.
I'm in Jax this track is going further west stay safe tampatec hope you get through this alright
Stay safe you and your family my brother nice video
Since that generator is not an inverter type generator.
How long did you ran the tv and ps4 hooked up to it?
Did you notice any buzzing or tv image flickering?
William Ramos yes
Hi, it's is safe to charge a laptop with it?
It will be better to get on-line UPS to be safe.
How close do you have this to your house?Even though it's small i'm sure it still puts off a lot of carbon monoxide
Can it run a deep fryer?
Paul, Hope to find you and yours well and safe, your still on our prayer list. Your friend, Joel

can i play a gaming pc (500watt) on 1000watt generators
can one of these work with a ryobi 1800 power washer?
Does anyone tell me?
Good luck with that hurricane

Thanks bro!
The title should be "how to fry electronics with a generator..."
what you mean?
How much time will it run on a full tank
He said 5 hours
Hola. Muy mala idea conectar equipos de electrónica sensible a este tipo de generador. Úselo en emergencia o herramientas eléctricas.
man yr brother charged you ?? BUG IN BAG TIME..
How bout watching TV minus PlayStation...how would it play
I got the same one off eBay for $99 free shipping
I predict you will be making a lot of videos about how to fix tv's that got wet.
I saw a guy that looks like you at a Publix.
if i remember correctly the ground spike is not even hooked up on this generator

Switch a generator over easily to Gas/Propane for around 100$ Propane is always readily available and has a long shelf life.
It's 2 stroke. It'll last like 10 minutes on propane
