    Always love getting an over-wing seat, though on an MD88 I also prefer getting a seat at the engine intake

    I remember flying BHM- ATL on a Delta DC-8 back in the early 80s.

      I remember flying a United DC-8 SEA to RNO about 1982. Hit an air pocket on our descent in Reno at about 10,000 feet, it made the stewardess drop to her knees upon picking up last minute items. I was about in my upper single digits traveling with my older cousin.

    It'll be a sad day when these disappear from U.S. skies. I first flew on one of the Delta MD88's in the Sping or Summer of 1995 from ATL to NOL, I took my most recent flight on one last October 2018 from OMA to ATL on N988DL.

      I've flown that route multiple times...easily less than 30 minutes. The last time I flew that route it was about 18 minutes.

      Jeremy Greenlee So in your esteemed intelligence, you could run Delta (or any other airline) better? Flying 30-40 minutes sure beats 3 or so hours (depending on traffic/accidents, etc) on the freeway. Had to do a lot of traveling out BHM for the Army & they always flew me out of BHM to ATL to connect.

      I've done ATL-HSV a few times, just about the same amount of time. I think the last one was 24 minutes.

      Jeremy Greenlee 147 road miles and 136 flight miles actual flight time is 36 minutes.

      you have to be at the airport over an hour before the flight. Then you wati for the plane excluding any ATC delays, you fly there and then leave the airpot. By the time this is over, it would have taken you longer to Travel by airplane than by car.

    An awesome takeoff! I love the sound of those turbines as the plane thunders down the runway and then heads skyward! Great video! How long was the flight? It looked like it got a little bumpy flying through the clouds, which is pretty normal.

    Nice video! It's pretty awesome that you guys cut in front of the huge line for departure.
    BTW, how did you get the map at 0:10-0:16?

      The map feature is a part of my video editing program. Comes in handy with these flight videos.

    Why did yall get to cut the line for the runway? haha

    • @chanman4rings
      @chanman4rings 9 лет назад

      It doesn't look like they did. There was a 757 and a few MD80s in line when they first taxied to the runway. Then when they were holding short for 8R there was an A320 then more MD80s.

    How is Birmingham considered an international airport? Doesn't seem like it should be.

    • @ben_2173
      @ben_2173 8 лет назад

      you can fly out of the country

    • @water892
      @water892 8 лет назад

      They have flights to Mexico and the Caribbean from there. Just because it's small doesn't mean it can't be an international airport.

      I'm from Birmingham, and no, they don't. We have an over-sized airport for what we need. The largest we operate is a UPS A300-600F, so....

    that's not the md 88 its the md 90. MD 88 engines are thinner and slim the md 90 engines are fatter
