Rammsteins "Deutschland" is about the History of Germany and the love/hate inbetween.
Only problem is its hard to cover so much history in a 9 minutes long music video.
But there are so much hints you need to watch it more than one time to get all of them.
    True masterpice!
And there is a video called "This is Germany" by Dr. Ludwig showing Germany from a drone perspective.
    Its worth to watch.

1:30 The reason why is given in the same video at 5:33 but they failed to put one and one together. What is called Saxony today was actually known as Upper Saxony (Obersachsen) because it is situated on more elevated land (foothills of the Ore Mountains). Hence the contrast to Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) which mostly covers the flat plains bordering the North Sea coast. The latter is the place of the original tribe of the Saxons who also migrated to the British Isles in the 6th century AD (cf. Anglo-Saxon).

Lower Saxony is the heartland of the old Duchy of Saxony. Westphalia and western Holstein, as well as the western part of today's Saxony-Anhalt up to the Elbe and Saale rivers, were also part of the old duchy. This was the land that Charlemagne conquered between 770 and 800. Today's Saxony, Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz and the surrounding area, only received this name in 1423. That was the decision of a ruling dynasty at the time. The ancient Saxons are closely related to the Anglo-Saxons of Britain.

    To your questions:
    - 1:25 Two citys one entity: As ships grew larger, the city of Bremen built a new harbor closer to the sea and called it Harbor of Bremen ("Bremer Hafen" a.k.a "Bremerhaven" in the German dialect Plattdeutsch, as it is still called).
    - 1:43 The Habsburgs sold land to the federal Zurich. Büsingen was suddenly surrounded by Swiss communities and became a German enclave on Swiss territory
    - 1:50 Rivers used to be borders, but the course of rivers changes, the borders remain, which sometimes leads to strange borders.
    - Germany also had colonies in the Pacific and China
    - 4:44 Why destroy intact infrastructure? The "lamps" are gradually being replaced.
    - 7:49 Yes, offshore and onshore wind farms, Germany now gets 52% of its electricity from renewable energies
    - In the meantime 84.3 million people live in Germany (Most Russians live in the European part of Russia)
    - 13:25 In 40 years? In 75 years! It will have been 34 years since reunification with East Germany. But German history is much older, for example the idea and implementation of universal health care dates back to Imperial Germany in 1883
    - Passport: Since 2023, Japan and Singapore are allowed to travel to one more country without a visa than Germans and Spaniards, followed by the Scandinavians, Dutch, Austrians, etc.
    - 16:54 According to the last survey, 40% of Americans are of German origin and all Europeans received money from the Marshall Plan (Post War Aid). Btw. the British got the biggest chunk.
Somewhat abrupt ending.. happy holidays to you too ;-)

@@RikaMagic-px6bk & @shahinreacts The Autobahn is one of the safest highway systems in the world. I am too lazy to look up statistics but its somewhere in the top 5.
Important to note is that the average speed on the Autobahn is not much different than for example American highways for various different reasons but mainly traffic congestion. You can't go 300 if the lane is not free and its not allowed to "behave unreasonable". There is a recommended speed of 130kph, and if you have an accident above this speed you are most likely automatically responsible. Some rules always apply, for example safety distance, if you crash on the back of another car there have to be extraordinary circumstances that you will not be at fault to be responsible for the crash. And causing a dangerous crash is a quick way to lose the drivers license. There is this example of a professional driver who spooked a young mother by zooming by her with very high speed, she crashed badly. The professional driver lost his drivers license and his job as a driver as consequence.
Its actually more common to hear about crazy accidents involving trucks rather than high speed crashes from the Autobahn. But in general, it is very safe and an experienced driver should not have any issue driving around 200kph very safely, because an experienced driver also knows when not to drive as fast.
When i have to drive for a longer trip I generally try to plan it in the evening/night, because then I have a free way and cruising along with 220, listening to an audiobook is actually very relaxing and you get to your destination quickly.

Last time you appreciated the facts so here are some more to this great reaction :)
One can see that you are fascinating and love all of the information...
    1:30 *_Saxony / Lower Saxony_*
It is, because the north of Germany is the sea side and its land level is lower. The south becomes higher because of the Alps. (Explained in 5:36)
    1:54 *_Enclaves in Germany_*
I'm not sure but i think it is because of territorial belongings in the late 1800.
    2:13 *_Different cultures_*
This is because Germany was formed out of hundreds of Kingdoms, Counties and Lands. It was only Otto von Bismarck who founded Germany as a unified state in 1871. That's why there are so many castles and palaces in Germany today. Every king, count and baron had their own fortress to protect them, their family and their court. (You can see a map of all of them in 2:43)
    2:30 *_Pride of local flags_*
Generally... No. At most there is a feeling of belonging to one of the 5 main areas in Germany. North, East, West, South, Center. This is where the differences between the individual German cultures can best be seen. In the south, however, there are noticeable differences between several regions. (But sometimes you can see a different Mindset in each city too)
I need to stop commenting each question 🤣
    3:25 *_Colonizing_*
One could say that the Germans visited and colonized almost the entire world. Some countries are more successful, other countries less successful. Today, for example, approximately 30-40% of all Americans have German ancestry. The late Queens of England, Queen Elizabeth 50%, Queen Elizabeth II 25% of German descent. In South Africa, today's language is still partly based on the language of the German colonists at the time. The Germans have a very “eventful” history worldwide.
    5:21 *_Driving in Germany_*
From an international perspective, the average number of moderate to severe accidents in Germany is actually rather below average. However, that is because we Germans are very disciplined and rule-abiding anyway. We love our cars, our highway and the feeling of getting from one point to another safely with our cars. We have the best, most thorough, most difficult and most expensive driving test in the world. Due to the difficult requirements for getting a driver's license, we are very well trained in traffic and doubly careful so that we don't lose our driver's license.
    6:44 *_Bread_*
Unfortunatelly this isn't the truth. There are actually more than 3200 type of bread in Germany. This is because every official master baker has to create a new and "unique" bread during his test.
    8:55 *_Russia_*
Most of Russia is on the European continent. Large parts of the culture are European, as the most important cities such as St. Petersburg and Moscow are in Europe. That is why Russia is considered part of Europe rather than Asia. But Russia is not part of the EU, which should not be confused.
    11:59 *_Inner pig worm_*
*_Den inneren Schweinehund überwinden_* (Overcoming your weaker self) means tackling unpleasant tasks instead of putting them off.
*_Fremdschämen_* (Second hand embarrassment) means feeling ashamed of someone else's behavior or stupid action because you may feel like you belong to them.
13:23 *_"what they have done in 40 years"_*
I'm born in the late 70's and can't remember seeing any destroyed building. So one could say, they've done it in 20 years. And i love to remember this times. Without being connected like today was a great experience i would never miss.
14:56 *_"so many iconic people in just one country"_*
Germany the land of the thinker and poets. As i mentioned before, Germany has a eventful past. Maybe you are interested in watching a RUclips video about the *_german inventions they've changed the world_* There are some good :)
    15:26 *_Visa freedom_*
This information is pretty old. There are other countries ahead of germany at moment.

Thanks for the authentic reaction! The video you responded to is really entertaining, but not always entirely accurate. Even if the French claim Emperor Charlemagne (Karl der Große) as their own, this is not a question of a specific nationality in the modern sense. Or within today's geographical boundaries.
After all, Charlemagne is the ancestor of almost all Central Europeans. He and his brother Karlemann divided the European inheritance. His descendants essentially divided what is now France (France, the Frankish Empire) and the areas of what is now Germany between themselves. Which is why every subsequent armed conflict between the two major camps can be described as a fratricidal war.
They are all descendants of Germanic tribes, of course mixed with other ethnic groups over the last two millennia. Germany is called Germany in English because "geographically" it can be considered the heartland of the Germanic peoples. The situation is similar in the British Isles, where Germanic influence can be detected in their genome. Around half of all Britons have Germanic roots. According to current knowledge.
Their languages are called Indo-Germanic, which is why there are many similarities between them. I find it funny that only we Germans are associated with the ancient Germanic people.

It was the principality of the Saxons in Lower Saxony. Down on the coast to the north.
But the principality died out and the title was given to other princes.
The Prince of Saxony-Anhalt and the Prince of Saxony.
The Prince of Hannover was at one time the King of England.
Then there was the Saxon tribe, the Jute tribe and the Anglo tribe, the Anglo-Saxons migrated to England and gave their name to the country there.
Fehnbahn. This railway was built during WW1 to supply German troops in Belgium. Because Germany lost, the Fehnbahn was given to Belgium even though the country remained German left and right. Today there is a cycle path on Belgian land, right in the middle of Germany.
Austria is to blame for the complicated border situation between Germany and Switzerland. Austria conquered Büsingen and placed it under German control. “To the eternal annoyance of the Swiss,” it says in the document.
Up to date, Switzerland and Germany have not been able to agree to an exchange.
After WW2, Saarland was under French occupation and then an independent state. But this was not recognized by Germany. Then there was a population survey and the Saarlanders decided to reunite with Germany. That was the small unification in 1956, the big unification was in 1990 with East Germany.
Since 1990 it has no longer been possible for other countries to join the German state.
