Just to surf - it's great to have the stoke wherever you are.
I was born in Metairie, LA, but lived in Los Angeles for a year and picked up surfing and fell in love. A few years later I linked up with Keegan and we went surfing in Grand Isle, and it was such an epic experience. Loving what Pontcha has done for the NOLA surf community. Nick, this was so well made - mad props and thanks for telling the story.
So stoked you loved it! I'm from Northern California and couldn't believe if found surf out here. What Keegan has done is amazing and I really just wanted to capture that.
I wish the film was endless💙
Breathtaking
Thank you so much for creating this amazing film in English❤️
Not only is the topic awesome, but the doc is amazinggg🤟🤌
Lake Pontchartrain, Pipe, Cloudbreak, lake Michigan. The stoke and passion is all the same.
WELL DONE ,GOOD VIBES ALL AROUND,KEEP ENJOYING THE SURFING LIFE.
One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen!!!! A masterpiece
I'm cajun but living out in SoCal.. stoked to see you boys getting waves. I surfed Texas some when young, never made it to Louisiana. Catch a session, get some gumbo on the way home.. epic.
Exactly! Lese le bon ton roulette, no matter what
Surfing saved my life. Great documentary.
Nice job on the doc, glad to see someone pick up the torch, keep spreading the stoke! Fourchon beach needs to be re- opened to public access again, closing it was tragic loss for the local surf community
Great piece!
this is super rad you guys!! Awesome waves!🤙🏽👊🏽
This is a masterpiece that deserves way more views. I am impressed and inspired.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that :) always helps to share it
I surfed Fourchon in the mid 70’s until 1980 when I moved to Pcola. Surfed it all year round with a bunch of guys from N.O. On the West Bank. Keep it alive guys!
good video thanks . I got to surf Grand Isle in 1984 and 1994 waves breaking way out to sea and reforming dolphins everywhere fish jumpin all around me .lot of surf fun stuff
Loved the video! Good subject, good story well told, great camera work especially like the effect @12:20, fantastic music that puts an exclamation point on the entire video. A total hit with me
Ah! Mr. McKerr, so glad you enjoyed it. That's one of my favorite spots too :)
Awesome video! You guys really put surfing on the map in Louisiana 🤙🤙
Thank you brotha!
Interesting , keep up the good work guys. People who really love soul surfing are special people. Nothing spectacular. No crowd , no cliq , no photographers...just a little wave and a few friends who love surfing , having fun. I love it ! Keep it going , You guys make me proud. Surf it up from Jacksonville Beach Florida.
Damn, I thought I had it tough growing up on the Fl Gulf Coast. These guys are making the best of what they have and loving it. So awesome!
the stoke is real
Fun is where you find it. Love how this community celebrate what they have rather than grumble about what they don’t have.
Exactly! That was what I hoped to capture. So glad you enjoyed!
Love the stoke and the great efforts to surf. Makes me appreciate my local waves a lot more! The same spirit is in all of us.
Thanks for making this. There are more than a few "secret" surf spots in LA. I still check a Grand Isle surf/webcam daily.
I'd love to here some of your other "secret" spots if you're willing to share!
Keegan is my cousin and it is so awesome seeing him doing something he's passionate about👍
Keegan is a legend.
These dudes may not have the best waves, but I’m aire that they have the best vibe 🤙🏽
that shaper by the golf course! Very cool boards🤙🏽💯
Let the good times roll🤙🏽🚀
This is a great "Surf Movie"! The waves aren't the best but better than expected. And the vibe was cool throughout, I love the Lake Surfing and those older surfer/shaper guys keeping the stoke alive.
God Bless You, Mr. Hingle!
Holy crap! A shaper from St. Francisville! The world is truly ending!
Seriously, keep at it guys!
It was a blessing to find so many great characters
Super cool, I live in Louisiana and have always wanted to surf. Almost 30, thinking about buying a board and getting out there. Again; enjoyed the documentary. Awesome vibes.
link up with the Ponchta guys! they'll take you out
I'm from Jacksonville, Fl and surfing is apart of my spirit. But, I'll tell you what, I love going to Louisiana and there's waves! I'm in Guam right now, headed home in October. If I get out there hope to see you guys in the water! Great documentary..look forward to seeing more surfing outta this area!!🤙
Thank you!

Incredible video, had no idea, Louisiana really has everything man.
I had no idea either! I really loved learning about their culture and telling the story of Louisiana surfing.
Never gets old
Awesome level of stoke. Very impressive. You seem to be true passionistas. High technology new surfboard and wetsuit materials are nice to improve surfers lives. Watch have a big-'ol meal of old fashioned French Cajun/ Creole vittles with wine to reward yourselves.
Hats off to Billy Hingle, but I'm not sure he was the first to surf Grand Isle. My grandparents had a camp there and my family would spend summers there. In the early '60s (probably '63 or '64 during the surf craze of the time) I decided to see if I could catch some waves. I had a cheap old red board and the surf was pretty flat (knee high), but I managed to get a few short rides. I had never seen surfers there, but maybe Billy was down the beach somewhere.
I'm from Pointe Aux Chene Louisiana. Surfed Fourchon for years after I got back from working in Hawaii, surfed from 1999 until I lost my board during Katrina... It looks like you guys are surfing the dump surf on the beach. What I found in my time surfing down there is that there are 2 sand bars. If you paddle out passed the second sand bar that's where the really good surf is. I never thought of surfing Lake Pontchartrain but I'd love to knock off the rust and try it sometime. AWESOME video!
Respect. I surfed the Michigan lakes. Third coast surf shop. Great people. Downey California 🇲🇽🇯🇵🇺🇸🏄🏽♂️🌊
Very good work
I'm having flashbacks of surfing Port Fourchon Beach back in the 80's before moving to southern California.
Nothing quiet like being out with the gators and the oil rigs
Very nice, documentary ! we have similar waves but with easy acces, grtz from Belgium
Access is definitely our biggest issue here
that was a really awesome documentary. I got to surf the Pontch with Keegan back a few years ago, cool to see him on this!
So glad I found this. Live in Jax right now and picking up surfing. Moving back in the summer and decided to google Louisiana surfing in hopes of finding something, never imagined this! look forward to linking up with you guys in the future! Keep it up
Great stuff guys. Keep the dream alive! 🤙
Love this!!! I'll hope to see you one day on the Fourchon break!
(One comment...I think we all know that Point a la Hache is not where they circled!)
Dude, this was cool af. I grew up on Pensacola beach, live in Texas now and, work out of Fourchon running a supply boat. I've seen the jettie at Fourchon break soooo good before. Can yáll get there any more?
Yes sir! take a boat across the bayou or, as Billy did in the old days, paddle across.
Dont get caught on the beach ! Its off limits.
As a sea-side surfer of 6 decades plus ( Giving my age away ! ); I was REALLY interested in and in admiration of your Louisiana early days lake-surfing start-out ! But by the time I had heard * LIKE * fifty times + within 3 sentences; I was; like; gone ... Like ! 🤯
Those waves a much like overhere in the Netherlands.
Really really good inspiring doc!
Appreciate it David!
