You don't have to be a carpenter to realise that the door handles and hinges won't support your weight. Even if you are a lightweight that's still too much strain for the door hinges/handles.
If you don't have the money to buy a pull-up bar (20$), destroy your 300$ door completely, before realizing you'll need a pull-up bar anyway and a new door
Instead of a table inverted rows or the two chairs and elbows I would suggest the most common, easy and safe way - Inverted rows with a broomstick between two chairs (either resting on the seat or the back of the chairs) ; it is an adjustable position, you can add more resistance with a backpack (better to have it at the front, on your chest), lower difficulty in several ways (legs position), and you get a better range of motion plus a much bigger stretch to your lats and traps.
Absolutely brilliant suggestion, thanks! If anyone like me stumbles on this make sure your stick of choice can't be bent or broken with loads of resistance, and make sure your chairs are sturdy too.
Those table pull ups worked awesome in prison on my bottom bunk. yes in the hole there was a table bolted to the wall in from of my bunk. Worked great! 1st time I've ever seen anyone show these. Dips with the chairs worked great in lock down. I am a free man, served my time, and yes, grateful that I experienced everything I have in life including my wife of 27yrs to suicide while in prison. Sad, though the mind, and heart opens up to new ways of life as long as we move forward to better our lives. Thanks bro

He is working on his Physical Fitness Merit badge for BS and he can not do a pull-up at all. From watching other videos, we got ideas of how to build up to one, but we did not want to join a gym. This is perfect!! You teach how to use household items and your own body weight. Thank you. :)

Great content. One suggestion: locust pose in the yoga tradition is a wide spectrum exercise that engages the biceps, back, hamstrings and glutes. It can be done lying face down, on a yoga mat, chin extended in front of you, arms by your sides with hands reaching towards your feet, palms down. From there, try to push your hands down and lift your feet off the ground.... as high as you can go! If you can lift yourself into essentially a reverse shoulder stand... then you are ‘guru/ready to levitate/nirvana is near’ level. However, if you can barely lift your feet an inch (and hold it there) and you try as hard as you can, then you are still getting benefit to all those areas. You want to hold at whatever height you can get to, for as long as you can. It may sound stupid and cliche’ but this really is one of the few exercises where you can try as hard as you want...there is essentially no limit to the effort you can put into it, especially if you are barely getting those feet in the air (anywhere from 1inch to 2-3feet). Don’t believe me? Give it a try!

I'm sure you can find alternatives if your furniture can't hold you. I have a table that I'd be worried I'll break it. But, I have other pieces of furniture that I can use...I also have a retaining wall outside with bricks that I can use to put bands around. I also just tried some of these using a tree. Maybe you have some poles or rafters in the basement? Use your head, people. There's gotta be something you can wrap a towel around, no?
