    Hi Scott, Old video, but wondering if you are aware if a Stinkor may have been dummied up for this line? The test shot style figure has the 200X head, flat plugged respirator, with the comic 2 pack Zodac feet. Everything else looks the same. Many thanks and thank you for your dedication to recording the history of this line.

    For some reason I Can't definitively explain, the he-man figure from this 2-pack has always been my favorite of the classic he-man look. it always appealed to me with its aesthetics. maybe that yellow just gives it that extra POW!

    Thanks for covering this unique branch of this toy line! I missed my chance to get them @ TRU (Rest in Peace) & kind of kicked myself. I have the comic insert (possibly from DC's Amethyst book) & enjoyed the wacky goodness. And thanks to my local comic shop, I was able to get a bunch of the mini-posters for free (or very cheaply)- great art! Maybe one day well get to see more of those crossover sets (ala the DC in the MoTU style?).

    Hi, Sco-I mean, Spector. Recently, RUclips surfaced your channel. Being the proud owner of the “He-Man Room” and two near-complete Masters of the Universe Classics MC collections (plus more MOTU lines), perusing Spector Creative was a must. I paused, “Could this be?” I continued, “No way.” My thumb darted straight to the playlist, “It is,” I shouted, “Toy Guru has a RUclips channel!” Questions rattled my cranium. How old is the channel? Are there recent posts? “Awesome.” I’d found my workweek’s content binge. Moreover, I was happy for you. Happy to see you active, positive, and still in the toy biz. Fast forward. After consuming a few cherry-picked vids and hearing you talk shop and toss out industry terms, I was even more thrilled for you, your the channel, and your new business. MOTUC and DCUC insights aside, I appreciate everything you’re sharing. Though I do not know you personally, I always had your back during those trying and I’m sure, soul-taxing, MC years. You killed it, man. I know “it’s” a team effort. I also have a good idea, based on XP, the type of mind, willpower, and skin it takes to do what you did (for us fans and collectors) and what you continue to do. Wishing you, yours, and SC all the best. I'm just guessing but I think Hordak Vs. Cyborg would've been a way to appease/pander to the DC suits even more potently than a character like Red Tornado (which still would've been a good call for modern variant branding). It's just that DC seems to have pushing Cyborg hard for A-list status since the late-80s all the way up til now. And Hordak, having a cyborg aspect with the Filmation arm and all would've fit nicely in this "variant" toned line.

    If it’s “tough to get a retail line out there without content”, then why did Mattel never produce content? I’m genuinely curious, because they had an existing library of MOTU comics, and they never licensed MOTU to a comic company after MVCreations folded. Even with DC, they’ve had very limited content, but comics drives sales.

    • @spectorcreative1872
      @spectorcreative1872  4 года назад +1

    GAAAH! One of the greatest mysteries did not get solved in this video. I love the two packs. Got all of them but I’ve had one unanswered question for years hoping it would get answered here regarding the 2-pack Zodac. It did not get answered : (
    To me, it was obvious you guys wanted to make him look closer to what he did in the Filmation series. For example, you changed his three-toe feet to normal feet like Keldor has. Also you painted on white gloves too. Both typical characterisitcs that separates Filmation Zodac from all the other comic versions, toy versions etc.
    So here is my question: Why did you not add the Hordak/He-Ro forearms onto Zodac instead of just painting on the Skeletor forearms? You already had the molding for it since both Hordak and He-Ro had been released. Because if you did add this, IMO you would have another legit variant like Battle Armor Faker.
    Btw, BA Faker is one of my favorites in the entire series to the extent I made myself a custom vintage BA Faker.
    The Blue Mer-Man was rad too.

    I remember. this line was just weird. to start with the DC and He-Man figures are in different scale.
    and the figures are pretty much repaints of existing release that fans already have.
    overall it just didn't appeal to anyone. No offense the toy line just felt like cheap repackages for a quick buck with no passion.
    looking back at it now they seem to be some cool repaints with a gold shirt Aquaman. but back then overall it just didn't make sense for collectors.
    and I feel like it's not just me that's why the sales were low.
    If Mattel was able to actually spend a little bit money and take a risk, you get MOTU characters using the DC buck with new parts. Or DC figures using the MOTU buck which Mattel end up did do. I think you would have gotten a more appealing product

      I've always been interested in this topic as well.
      The dcu on a Motu classics buck would definitely have made an appeal to multiple fandoms. They also made a multiverse Superman. I would love to see new packs with the same scale. I've personally customized a few with very little tooling and existing parts so I know it could be done cheaply if the interest was there. I think they could also do the Motu buck with injustice characters and crossovers if Mattel decided to spend a little more on tooling.
