The motivation thing is a huge killer of cheats, I would know lol. I dev'd Tempest for 2 years then Lumen for another 3. It's just repetitive and you get bored. Arithmo was probably the biggest dev that was around for the longest. There's a few others like Alerithe and Valk (and a few others) that dev and did for a long time but they didn't sell their cheats, only they used them.
