Matthew is an outstanding young man. If only every Singaporean gen Z is like him - friendly and with a heart to serve the public for good in whatever vocation they do - Singapore's future would definitely be very bright
I think there are people like that in big organizations. Just how accessible they are to the upper management and if their supervisors would listen to the suggestions.
Nothing is more beautiful than seeing someone works with their heart and full of love, best of success fo Matthew,Taufiq, Julianah and millions of other like them all over this world
All the 3 characters featured here are ordinary people like you and me yet they found great passions and purpose for life and they go for it! I like all 3 of them. Matthew is simple and kind. He pursues what he likes and does not buy into the rat race, material success. He is happy every single day. Parents please bear Matthew's example in mind and don't stress your kid unnecessarily to go to good schools and become doctors and lawyers. Taufiq went through some mistakes and difficulty in life but he was not beaten down. In fact setbacks in life made him treasure what he has and to empathise with others and pay it forward. I respect him. Juliana is beautiful in her own ways. She can be both gentle and tough, i would love to have a friend like her!
@@BestFoodReviewFeatured If everyone has the same mentality as that then a country would cease to exist. Nobody would be driving buses or serving you at your favourite F&B place, or even collecting trash
I love how CNA portrays also people who is not public figure, because everyone is extraordinary, and we all worth a standing ovation at least once in our lives.
What Taufiq said about barbers being a male representative in the lives of boys at risk resonated with me. I'm so impressed with the barber shop being more than a barber shop.
Thank you Matthew and CNA for this outstanding story - people like Matthew keep society moving forward and we should look to take care of them with better pay/conditions.
As we watched this programme, my husband and I felt as though we were back in Singapore on hearing the sounds of the bus bells. Took us back to the happy times when we took the wonderful buses.
We are all interconnected with each other in our daily lives. We are also making a difference as well, indirectly inpacting people's lives. Good job and thanks to everyone making this video. It was enjoyable to watch.
He's living a dream i wish I could. I'm an avid bus enthusiast specifically the Durban Transport municipal buses. I remember wanting to be a bus driver and always wanting to go by bus whether if it was the main Aqualine bus or the smaller Mynah bus. However the ANC😭😭😭 messed that service so badly that i try to get any picture i can of the "new" and old buses. I just wish the service will be brought back to its former glory. I wish Matthew all the best.
Army is not about “equipping soldiers with life skills”, or doing anything for the benefit of the soldiers - it’s all about achieving the mission objectives for these commanders - the soldiers are fodder and will be sacrificed for the commanders’ survival. Hard truth.

Where do these young men drive their buses? I was in Sg early this year, and all the drivers i saw were over 50 and didn't know English. I was a tourist who had a problem with my card, but all the driver did was yell to me in Chinese! Thankfully, 2 older Singaporean men who spoke English were kind enough to help.
It depends on the which bus they were assign to and the industry is still pretty much dominated by those well above 30 odd. Those younger ones generally work for the private bus company as such Tower or Go-Ahead SG Buses SBS & SMRT does have a small pool of younger workers but its not very often you will encounter them on your daily commute. And the workforce are made up of mainly Malaysian or Chinese workers, and we do have a moderate percentage of local workers. Next time when your visiting Singapore again, instead of using the ezlink card you can opt to use your credit card to tap on the machine instead.
Actually, young men like these driving buses and taxis are few and far in between in Singapore, in part due to the toxic culture inculcated by the older generations of viewing these jobs as of a "lower class" as compared to the typical white-collared jobs. Hence most of the workers in these kind of jobs are either older Singaporeans who have been in the line for decades or foreign migrant workers.
Yes but the whole point of this is that they all have their individual lives and jobs but have one thing in common: Connectivity in their lives with the public bus transportation.
@@imranbecks yes but then might as well feature my life since I use buses too. the connection to buses is so thin as to be meaningless. only the bustaku guy's story was really interesting.

Exactly! Not to mention he is so well-spoken and eloquent
Every gen z is like him. It's the boomers, gen x and millennials who ruined the world with their greed and selfishness
Agreed.
Yes Matthew is very passionate young man whom has a bright future ahead !
i am trying to be PAP enthu too
but i have trouble knowing somebody who knows somebody thats already in the party
how can i get in?
Matthew is the type of people we need more in the society. Went for his passion and dreams, connecting people. Nice episode CNA!

We need to support more of our locals in blue-collar jobs! Jobs like these are vital to our everyday life :D
Jobs are just jobs. In today's era, we should no longer view jobs as white Vs blue collar.
So less money
